Another failure, about 7 minutes in, this time using the original drivers (DDU used). GPU temp maximum was 76 and CPU 80.

Was using automatic fans but the temp wasn't that high, seems to me like a power or hardware issue, not really temps.

    Hm. Support ticket time?

Not the first 980m going to hell. The last tryouts would be a re-install of OS. But probably a hardware fault.

Thank you @Mr. Fox for allowing me to have this piece of art, your old little legacy beast :). I'm really happy to own something from you, specially the El Cazador with all special BIOS/vBIOS from @Prema , your time and efforts on it is Priceless, along with the beautiful red color that you paint it by yourself.

Enjoy it my friend. I'm happy that it will have a good home with you. It has been a really great system. You're going to love it. It's packed well enough to withstand a nuclear explosion, so it should arrive to you looking all nice and pretty as long as customs doesn't do something bad to it.

Pairing the oem 8 gb with the 16 gb probably wont work, theres a good chance they are not compatible.

So the 2x16 Kingstons don't work together?

Also which slots are you trying?

oem 8gb and each 16 gb work perfect, but if install 16+8 gb or 16+16, or 16+16+8 - not POST bios. working only with one of 16gb, 16gb, 8gb. Try many combination in four free slots for ram - no results.
16x16 kingston not working together. :(

you are probably not installing them in the correct slots.

First, only install RAM in matching pairs otherwise you won't operate at DDR speeds and will operate at Single Channel mode

    so 2x16GB is better than 2x16GB + 8 GB

    There are RAM slots 1, 2, 3, 4

Try installing the RAM in slot 1 and 3

if that doesn't work, try installing them in slot 1 / 2

refer to your laptop manual to know which port is which, usually they should have the number near the slot

I installed in RAM SLOTS in many variations (1,2 2,3 3,4 1,3 1,4 2,4 ) - no effects. 16x16 gb not POST. Black screen. Single 16 gb working well but when install second 16 gb in any slot - Laptop is no longer go POST.

pabrobai eta brat, reset your BIOS to defaults, save and exit, then enter BIOS again, then shut down

    now try the RAM again

Also, try to search for the memory profile and change it from Default Profile to XMP 1 or XMP 2

Where is this profile ? (Xmp 1 or xmp 2). In standart bios (not prema ) this profiles for ram are visible?

Ok. I try default bios setup and then restart and change ram.

Something is going really wonky with those modules then, they seem to dislike the timings of each other.

About the bioses, is there a difference between a g-sync and non g-sync bios (not vbios)? I finally have time to update by bios but can't really spare any donations for a prema bios. I found some eurocom bioses but there is no indications of g-sync or not.

While we're at it, is it written on bios what gpus are 'allowed' (for a lack of a better term). I have a DM but I know my 980m is for a ZM machine. I hope they didn't use some special bios to make this work.

    About probem with ram.
    Problem is solved.
One of two ram modules are damaged. I send back it. And seller sent me another. Now is fully worked in dual channel and 32 gb memory visible in win7.

    Thanks for all.

Good to hear that all is fine now.. In such instability cases, the issue is usually with the modules first.. Would always try swapping for different ones before suspecting something being wrong with the laptop..

Yeah a everyone's wondering this. Here's a thread about it:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-ryzen-possible.801836/

The gist from how far I read was that it probably won't happen this generation. Maybe if next if AMD gets good traction and wants to get in the high-end gaming laptop area.

I really do hope something happens in the next 2 years, I think I can hold out til then.

About holding out, has anyone tried the MSI 1060 on this machine yet? Looks like its the only one that can fit without major chassis modding. I'm seriously considering it when I get the time and money and confirmation that it could work.

its a pity what no prema unlocked bios support for old versions clevo as p7xxDM/DM1-G.
may be is possible to buy it?

I read what happened to Premа. It is very ugly and should be punished. Now I understand why there is no BIOS support for the latest laptops. One person has destroyed a lot of life including the author (Prema) of unblocked bios for laptops and video cards.
Many times i use bios from prema and I was glad that there is such a person to give the opportunity to overclock a laptop for maximum powerfull. (sorry for my bad english).

i wish good luck for Prema and his work.
Maybe once Prema surprise us with new Bios/vbios updates...

Unless it has identification on it then it can be very hard to see where it has come from. Can you contact the person it came from and ask? Have you checked over the machine for a sticker?

You could try asking the store if they could lend you a hand as a gesture of good will.

So I'm looking to upgrade one of the mechanical hard drives in my P77xDM-G.
I can see one the bays has a lot of depth but can anyone confirm that the central slot can take 15mm 2.5" drives?

The manual does state 9mm only but it looks to have the space there, I'm just unsure of the connector orientation on those drives or if I've missed something that would cause issue.

9mm only for this one. The NP9570 could get away with him a single larger depth drive but two normal height drives would always give more space anyway.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm using all available ports already but after seeing the 4 & 5TB options for 15mm drives it seemed like a justifiable jump, as much as I'd love to bump up one of the M.2 SSDs the price is just too high for me.

I was hoping if I ground down the cover it might squeeze, current drive comes out at 10.5mm with the plastic sheets. It looks like there would be 5mm in that holder type arrangement that could go, but still if the orientation of the port is wrong I'll just end up disappointed.
