You could try it with some SSD adapters, or a piece of wood or something else. ;)

It was the cost for the M.2s rather than the fit.

    Hello,

This has recently started happening to my laptop.

During normal computer use it's fine. The issues occur when the GPU is under heavy load for 5 to 10 minutes, doing gaming or benchmarking.

I installed premamod into the bios on the 11th of this month, but I've no idea how to remove it. I'd like to so I could rule it out.

It could be your brick over drawing is is getting weaker due to a component failure.

I have encountered the same problem before. It is likely related to Prema vBios as restoring the original vBios fixed it in my case.

If unlocking power draw getting a power meter and checking usage at the wall is highly recommended to keep an eye on things.

If prema offers a modified BIOS he usually offers the stock file on the listing.

I get that when overclocking. First couple times it happened was when I was stressing and finding good overclocks a year ago when I installed Prema vBios.

But weirdly enough, I've been running stable with the same overclock since then but recently I've been getting what you're having intermittently with extended gaming sessions.

And the problem is that I can't recreate it on purpose. Running Valley on max 8+ hours with same overclock is fine and future mark benches are fine as well as 8-hour sessions. But sometimes it will randomly crash like that within 2 hours of gaming. Temps are in check with max below 75 C.

Now the only thing I've done in past months is switch to Windows 10. Now this I won't blame on windows as I haven't found a concrete evidence of it causing hardware performance like this. I would like to get a wall meter to see PSU draw but for now lowering OC or running stock doesn't cause any problems.

You don't need a massively accurate one so a wall meter should be really cheap to pick up :)

Black screen and EC beeping = overheating and/or weak GPU MOSFETs.
Make sure the thermal pads are making proper contact with the MOSFETs of the MXM board as the unlocked vBIOS pulls a lot more juice under load than the stock version, so often bad paste jobs or weak components only come to the light of day with the mod...

    Interesting!

Well either way, I returned the laptop under warranty and they restored the original bios and replaced the graphics card. All is well now.

Can anyone confirm what´s the latest version of the BIOS and EC firmware for the P771DM-G?
I saw this versions but i´m not sure, just need someone to confirm this:

    - BIOS https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P7xxDMG/P7x0DM_B15.zip - v1.05.15
    - EC https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P7xxDMG/P7xxDMx_E04.zip - v1.05.04

My BIOS version is the 1.05.09 at this moment

I also want to my Thunderbolt detect eGPU´s, but i can´t find the updated firmware for this, any tips regarding this matter?

This is because i´m having refresh rate problems on my external monitor, it only detects refresh rates like 119Hz, 143Hz in game, i don´t know why, cause in desktop is 144Hz or 120Hz; i was using 3 days ago an Asus PG278Q, and tested also a VG248QE, and none of them gave me this problem, now i use the PG278QR and it´s been a headache cause at 119HZ in 3D, the monitor shows the Nvidia Red Warning saying it´s not a 3D compatible monitor.....I also notice lag with G-Sync On, since Nvidia updated their drivers from version 378.66 i can´t use other version than this one or else i get pretty much lag and games become unplayable.......

I really need some help here, i don´t know if someone had this problem before, if yes, please say something

    Thank you in advance

time to update my sig, sporting a very nice sample 7700k running on @Prema beta bios mod :D thx again to our resident clevo wiz! still getting to know my way around all the new options and figuring out stable clocks and voltages on this cpu.

    what i can say already:
    - dimm voltage is finally adjustable! higher ram speeds, here i come...
    - validation at 5.3ghz and cinebench at 5.1/5.2 ghz
    - running this setup delidded and using gallinstan between die and ihs. what is that you ask? its the main component in clu, only at 10% of its price. cooling potential is the same! so check this out:

    clu = 9€ per gram
gallinstan (purchased on ebay) = 9€ per 10 grams, with cost/gram decreasing the more you buy (available up to 250g packages, lol)

next step: prime95 stability testing for 24/7 clocks n voltages ;)

    cheers! :)

The stronger IMC on the 7700K will help mostly with memory clocks :)

Having a problem with the Nvidia drivers for my 980m 8gb gcard. Anything past the 378.92 driver released in march makes my fps drop to about 8 for about 10 seconds when using a 2nd monitor. This happens whenever I open a game, and about every minute in game. Sometimes happens without anything open, but about every 30 mins. Been using the 378.92 driver reliably, but the computer keeps updating the driver automatically somehow, even though I've tried to block the driver from updating in every way that I could think of. Got a NP9758-S. (i7-6700k, 980m 8gb, 16gb ram, 256 samsung ssd, 1tb hd,windows 10,15.6" g-sync screen). Looking to either troubleshoot the new drivers to make them reliable drivers for my comp, or to find a way to stop my comp from updating the drivers.

Hi guys. Unfortunately, due to a heavy rain, my Eurocom X7E2 got wet, and try hard as I may to dry it, inside and outside, it will not turn on. The power button briefly flashes white and disappears, while the power LED on the front edge of the laptop (the right side LED) flashes twice. I will probably leave it to dry somewhere, perhaps a dessicator or something, but I fear that there was irreversible damage done. Thankfully I backed up everything just last week, but I will need it for daily work. Any suggestions? I should have enough rice to do the rice drying thing...

ouch, that sucks. lets hope that trying to turn it on didnt actually fry anything in there. best thing to do before attempting to dry it is to disassemble it as much as possible, thus increasing the surface area and improving the drying process.

There will probably be charges involved and an enormous amount of waiting time since I'm sending it from the UK. Very frustrated now. If something is fried it probably will require a whole motherboard being replaced. It's such an expensive issue urrgh.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I can't do anything on the shipping time back to Canada, but even if you don't have individual laptop insurance you can usually claim for damage like this on your general household contents insurance - would definitely be worth a try!

ALSO DON'T TRY AND TURN IT ON WHEN WET AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

If your machine gets wet you need to strip the entire unit down (as in down to removing the motherboard from the chassis) and place the parts in something like dried rice, remove all batteries as mentioned above.

Also there are water proof covers you can get for bags which are certainly worth considering.

If in doubt wrap the machine in plastic supermarket bags if you have to go out.

    IT'S ALIVE!!!

I did strip the hell out of this lappy, and dry out everything I can. As I work in a chemistry lab, I have the luxury of compressed gas supply (compressed N2 gas, which is, obviously, dry). That helped a lot. I did, embarrassingly, forget to remove the CMOS battery. That, I suspect, is the cause of the bad attempts to reboot the computer because everything was already dry but any electrical points that may trap water (e.g. CMOS battery, USB/audio ports etc.) will screw you over. Hat tip to @Prema for that. The successful reboot also mentioned a bad CMOS battery thing, but that could be due to power cycling...?

Well, since this is a very important learning lesson, I will take a while to drop some points here.

The rain was fairly heavy, very heavy for UK weather but normal monsoon rain for tropical countries. My bag is an Everki Beacon, which is water resistant but not waterproof. When I arrived at my workplace, the top of the bag was open, whether by accident, negligence, or poorly zipped and eventually opening up under the heavy load.
    • Always put your zips on the side, not the top!
    • Get an extra laptop sleeve, because that helps to drain any liquids away. This is important if the laptop bag does not have a waterproof lining or cover, such as those from the Everki Titan etc.
    • Water resistant =/= waterproof!
    • 2.5K quid is a pretty penny to learn any lessons the hard way, and thankfully it was but a close shave.
    • Condensation arising from going from a cold to a warm place is a good way to kill your laptop.
I did also get my first try at removing the guts out completely, right down to the MB. Did make the usual mistake of having an "extra" screw leftover... However, since I have to do a repaste this weekend, I think I'll be fine.

The keyboard is best removed by sliding a thin minus-head screwdriver along the top left edge of the keyboard after removing all the keyboard screws underneath. I don't recommend the poking method. The tiny clips around the edges that hold the keyboard in are spring-loaded so the screwdriver method is good here. The magnets (holy mother, are they neodymium magnets??) are bloody strong but they're located on the right side below the keyboard (around the enter key area) so the upper left should be your point of access, then keep going clip by clip.

I've set the fans to maximum to dry the guts out fully just in case there's any little bit of excess moisture around.

A shout out to @Eurocom Support and @EurocomTechspert, your reply via email have been very prompt and I thank you for that. I will monitor the laptop, and if it's stable after a few more days I will confirm via email to close the RMA. I did not get a chance to giving glowing praises to Eurocom, so I want to take this chance to give them what they deserve. They have been very accommodating to me when I made my purchase of this baby, and it has indeed met my expectations. There are a few musings about the laptop, but that's from the design by Clevo so no fault at all from Eurocom. I'll leave them below here.
    • I carry this laptop to work and back almost everyday (because I work almost everyday, life of a Ph.D...), so that's 30 min walk each way. Get's heavy at times, but a good bag helps. I can stuff everything I need in my Everki Beacon, and still have space for 4 L of milk and more! (but it gets really heavy that way). I've walked for 1 h with this laptop, brick etc. in this bag and it's still reasonably comfortable, so investing in a good bag goes a long, long way.
    • Mind the short plug contact for the power inlet into the laptop. It is not shorter than the standard power plug most DC inlets use, but because it has a larger diameter it will have some more give than usual.
    • The audio ports are very stiff to remove any audio jacks. Good, but a bit too good hahah!
    • Max fans are... wow... loud and too high pitched for me. It's really like 1.5 hairdryers.
    • Touchpad... gods... it's too big for me, too many accidental taps. IMO it should be moved to the right a bit more so that WSAD won't interfere with mouse movement due to palm contact with the touchpad.
    • Those touchpad keys. Too much travel, and a bit too soft response. Not liking it. Sticking to my G302.
    • I get annoyed with the right button because it sticks into the number pad. I'll get used to it.
    • This is a very comfortable keyboard to type on. Very, very comfortable. It is a little bit to clean though, all the sticky grime that gets onto the edges.
    • I get through the battery in about 2 hours doing CPU intensive stuff. It's about right I guess.
    • Last but not least, the screen. The 3K TN panel is GORGEOUS. Sure, no IPS colour reproduction, but it's pretty good to me. Horizontal viewing angles are good, with some colour distortion (yellowing predominantly) but still very readable. Vertical angles are not that good but definitely not unreadable screens. I have no bad pixels, banding or screen bleeding (maybe just a very slight bit, but essentially none), so I have been very lucky here. At 100% scaling, a standard size 12 font is just about too small for me, but 14 is good; 125% scaling will do the trick for most people but even I can live with 100% scaling. This screen is a pretty penny, but every penny worth spending.
Let me know if you want to have more of an idea about the computer. I don't frequent this forum so much these days so forgive me if I don't respond very promptly. I don't benchmark so no number porn for you all, but I can give a very fair judgement about the practical aspects of the laptop. Again, kudos to Eurocom for this wonderful laptop and the service you have provided.

That requires a 7 series CPU and 270 series chipset so the 170 models and below do not support it.

Hi guys, in my country, Clevo P750DM got a 50% discount (i think it is the store last stock).

I have question though. I'm planning to get it and install a M.2 LTE module on it. I already read the service manual and it's seem easy enough.
Only one problem, there is no SIM Slot?? I checked the service manual and there is no mention of SIM Slot either on the external ports / connectors or on the motherboard.
And as far as I know, no m.2 lte module comes with built-in SIM slot.

    Please enlighten me guys.

Yes it would need a sim slot from the factory to be able to do that. If you are adding it in later it most likely wont have that.

On Clevo P750ZM, there is a full-size SIM slot underneath battery compartment. Is it the same with P750DM?

Owners of P750DM, could you please confirm this?

its a factory option. the space for the SIM card slot is definitely there (i have a fully functioning one) in all cases, but its up to the vendor ordering the machines from clevo if they decide they actually want the required hardware there or not. so best to check with the shop first before u buy!

Thank you for the answer @jaybee83 . Btw, I look at your sig and you have Intel 7700K installed. It's plug n play right? No bios upgrade / mod needed to install new CPU on it as long as it still use LGA 1151 ?

physically and electrically its totally compatible. however, with the stock bios ull only see a black screen once u intall it ;) ull need to flash a PremaMod Bios first on your current skylake cpu and then swap in the kaby lake model. the mod is still in beta and has a few kinks here and there to iron out. it already works wonderfully though! :)

    Hello,

I am Jorge from Portugal and I very recently bought a XMG U706 (P771DM-G). It is a really cool machine and a lot better than my 5 years old Toshiba L750.

I opted for the i5-6600k (i7 felt a little like a "waste" of money due to some heating problems I've read... Yeah I know it can be undervolted but I didn't felt having that hassle, plus the i5 does everything I need).

I am not much of a gamer, however, I do a lot virtualization and software development/testing, so the GeForce 970M is nice for me.

Another reason why I picked this model is Windows 7 compatibility, it runs very stable (I'll probably move to 8.1, or Linux, when 7 goes out of support). I can't stand the Windows 10 issues.

I've also bought this computer originally without any HDDs and placed them (640GB + 750GB) myself since XMG allows that (good DIY videos btw) and I have a collection of 2.5" 9.5mm SATA HDDs.

The only issue with this particular laptop is unfortunatelly the screen... I cannot question the quality of the image and display colors are truly perfect... But there's a dead subpixel on the screen (green led is dead). It is not visible on the BIOS because that part always has blue text on it, but webpages with white background, I see a tiny magenta dot on the lower right about 2 inches from each side.

I only received this machine yesterday, so I could return it (I believe, on the 14 day testing period - All I'd need to do is email XMG support). My question is, is it worth the hassle and are there any zero dead pixels IPS displays and how much are my chances of getting a perfect one?

so is it a truly dead pixel (black) or just a stuck one (anything other than black)? sounds like a stuck one to me, go ahead and try this website here to "unstuck" it (click on "fix my screen"): http://www.flexcode.org/lcd2.html

let it run for a while and then recheck if the pixel is still stuck :)

    Thanks for the reply.

I've ran it for 2 hours but no change. Basically, this subpixel problem is not spotted when image is black, blue, red or magenta, but if there is a green component (example: white, cyan), it will show.

Alezka computers will be having a P750DM2-G sale this month.

I will mainly be offering straight up discounts, on customized orders, my intention is to really customise each order, with options not found traditionally or directly.
i.e various panels, if you got a build in mind, or different WiFi options like 18260 which are 802.11AD (successor to 802.11AC) 3x3 1GB WiFi cards, or special pastings or usual delidding, undervolting, or overclocking, special profiles, maybe setting up TPM for encryption for extra protection, or configuring the laptop as a server or virtual machine setups..etc..

If you have a project in mind, I want to help, feel free to send me PMs or we can chat here etc...
I am not out of the thinking of custom heatsinks or capacitive touch sensor buttons modding, or special vinyl wrapping, or like making low pass filter transducers out of available 2.5" HDD space, etc... if you can think of it, I'd be happy to try it.

I think these Clevo's have a lot of potential and they are not reaching it yet. Lets change that !

    Worth a shot right !

Hello folks. I've been trying to eek some more performance out of my NP9758's 980m, as I've become quite enthralled with Playerunkown's Battlegrounds but it really stretches my card to the limit. I've achieved a stable +135 MHz OC (wow!) and am itching to see how far this card can be pushed.

Does anyone know if Prema's vBios allows for a higher GPU OC? I went to his website searching for the answer but it seems to be locked down.

If the answer is no, it won't, then, disregard. If it's possible, however, does anyone know of a legitimate way to get his modded vBIOS? I will gladly pay/donate for his work, I just can't seem to figure out how to do so.

Earlier in this thread he stepped in and suggested he would 'help out' folks who PM'd him. I didn't do so at the time out of some perhaps misplaced sense of impropriety, not wanting to ask for a 'free' service just after it had been released to distributors. But I tried to PM him just now and apparently am not allowed to do so. Anyone know what's up?
