What do you mean by matching the desktop parts?

Hi, If I decide to use liquid metal on cpu with one you guys prefer???
coollaboratory liquid ultra or thermal grizzly conductonaut and is it ok to apply it on gpu aswell?

It means the performance is similar, you won't see a degrade in performance compared to the desktop counterparts

If a desktop 1070 can output to a 5k monitor then so can the mobile versions in our machine :)

Most of the guys on NBR use CLU. I personally only use CLU and I like how it stays in place better than Grizzly Conductonaut.

I use Conductonaut, as it has a higher thermal rating. From trying both CLU and Conductonaut I found no difference to how liquid they are. I have used it on both the CPU and GPU although you need to make sure you have a good flat heat-sink with good contact, and if not possibly get a shim. Also some people have added sealant around the area to stop the LM from running out. I've only seen this happen on the systems I've done if you use to much LM

    Hello all.

    I have a P775DM3-G with a 6700K and a GTX1080 and i have some problems with the temps.
I use Throttlestop to undervolt the CPU and have one profile that i use for play games. That profile is overclocked to 4.1 and undervolted -170.9 mV and the micro is overheating. With that undervolt, how i have 80º-85ºc or 85º - 90ºc (depending the game)?, i have enough space to exhale hot air and the laptop is placed over a cooling stand so, i can't understand this temperature even the CPU is delidded and the thermal compound is the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut.
If i play games, the temperatures are between 80º-90ºc but when i try to stress the CPU, with Prime95 the max temp is up to 97º, with Aida64 i have to stop it at 99º, with the bench test that provides Throttlestop, is under 70º (¿?)... and another thing is that the fans don't run at 100%, never.

Any ideas ti fix this issue?

    Regards.

Sounds like your heatsink may not be flat so isn't making proper contact with the CPU.

If you want to set the fans to 100% hit 'FN+1'

I applied Grizzly liquid on cpu and gpu very carefully. Put back all together. Power on laptop starts fine. First test fails. Black screen. 3dmark. Clevo p775dm3 6700k, GTx 1080..... Aby idea?

    Hello.

Yes, i know that FN+1 is for top speed fans, but isn't possible to do it with the CC?, in automatic mode, never runs more than 50-60%, in Overclock the same and, in custom mode, don't let me push more than 80%... the speed fans control of the Control Center is very limited, maybe another tool?.

I have to check the heatsink but, don't know if i do this will avoid the warranty, will do?.

    Regards.

what liquid? Grizzly Conductonaut or Grizzly Kryonaut? And if Conductonaut where? I hope only CPU DIE -> Heatspreader, cause the heatsinks aren't good enough for liquid metal there, on GPU Side and CPU Heatspreader to Heatsink you should use Kryonaut or IC Diamond.

Grizzly Conductonaut I applied it on gpu and cpu aswell CPU DIE and Heatspreader. Did i broke something doing this? After fail in benchmark I have to power off laptop then when power on black screen. Didn't boot up. Fan full speed in 15 sec I would say. I have removed lm from cpu and gpu applied Ic 7 but still same problem.... No boot. Black screen only.. :(

Maybe fire up HWiNFO64 and show us some numbers? If yoo cant start your machine, open up and see if you have spilled with liquid metal.

double check very precisely, there is a good chance some liquid metal got over the GPU, or Mainboard or even CPU socket, that's the mess now :( just for the future never ever use Liquid Metal on uneven and unoptimized heatsinks like these on the P775.

What you can try too is after your inspection is start the notebook with "FN + D" held down, it should load default bios settings IF the black screen is caused by some bios settings, you can let it go after you see the "Default Values loaded" message.

Finally can say this is the best thermals I have on the Automatic fan profile.
Did a re-paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and ended up with 5 degrees less on average.

I'd have to disagree. I've put Conductonaut on quite a few P775 laptops and others have used CLU with no issue. What you have too be careful of is not putting to much on and to be careful when applying. I found my temps to be much better than when I used IC Diamond or Kryonaut

Pretty much, you put on a small amount then see if everything makes contact, if it doesn't add a bit more. Once you've done it a few times you get to know how much to put on and you don't have to remove the previous liquid metal, just add a bit more if needed.

    You're a TDI fan? :p

With Clevo\s better don't use metals unless perfect contant or modifications and better use enough than too little.

You generally cannot do too much unless you really try to. Just do two lines in X, about the thickness shown in most videos and you should be fine.

When there is a risk of imperfect contact and wrapping of the heatisnks, just be better safe than sorry.

well i tried that with my older p771dm and my pre RMA p775 and i was never fortunate enough to get a good enough heatsink to let Conductonaut work as expected, and tbh i didn't want to add that much of conductonaut either cause i wanted to avoid the mess, so i just opted for kryonaut instead and works pretty damn well too. It's ok tho i never see over 75 °C on GPU/CPU side anyways.

Not come across it myself. All the ones I've done with the 6700K CPU have not had an issue with LM. Only done 2 with a 7700K, and both work fine with LM, although I do think the gap is bigger than when I had 6700K's in those same machines so am getting some shims to see if it makes a difference.

Yes, wrong EC version, you are trying to install EC for P775DM3 on your P75xDM2. It will most probably brick your notebook. Can't fix a bad EC flash.

I'm glad you noticed. So did I. Hence why I didn't install it.

That's the BIOS version Eurocom support sent me when I asked for the new BIOS for my X4E2 P750DM2-G. I've got to say these folks are a pretty awesome group of mouth-breathers.

I'd say it's in their best interests to rectify this situation immediately. As in yesterday.

tbh, I've never heard of applying LM in the X way, that's a regular TIM recommendation. As far as I know (granted, my knowledge is not KungFu and my LM experience is zilch) one applies LM on both sides and in a thin layer.

Please can anyone chime in? I may be balls to the wall but I'm not reckless.

I'm noob with this. I applied lm on cpu and gpu both sides before aswell sended to service they replace gpu card and send it back to me working then I applied Ic diamond 7 on gpu and cpu both sides (delid). Was working fine even high demand games like Bf1 max temps 75c on gpu and cpu I decide to try drop them using LM Grizzly conductonaut again! Applied on gpu and cpu(cpu dellided) start up fine. First test 3dmark fail in few seconds. Power of power on and wont boot up. I love this machine beacuse of power. I had 3dmark score arround 21k and firestrike score arround 18.5 with oc cpu and gpu. I'm so stupid doing same thing twice when first time failed and sended to service. Won't touch LM again once someone explain me where to put it lol. I read that lm should be applied only o cpu Die but i read it after I mess up lol. I hope this time I'm going to be lucky aswell if not ill have to spend xx to repair my babe :(

As soon as I get my Der8auer delid tool I'm going to town on my P775. But I'm still on the fence as to using TGC or CLLU on HS-IHS and HS-GPU. Some say CLLU is less runny and therefor better, others say it's about the same and doesn't matter.

I'd much rather learn about the insulation tape/foil method that the resellers use to prevent leakage.
Until then I'm looking into using a thin open square slice of sponge to use as a dam and using surface tension of LM to trap any runoff.
I like to be safe but I'm ballsy enough to try LM.

That seems like a very incomplete statement. Beginners of what? Yoga?
Would one not have to begin something to no longer be a beginner?
How does one gain any experience if not by beginning?
It'd be way more useful to actually say something useful and not try to be all knowing but nothing saying.

If you are at all not comfortable doing the basics like adjusting thermal pads, using regular paste or stripping down the system then you need to learn to do these first. You should then have an idea of the risks involved and idea of how much is too much etc.

If you are not sure if my statement applies to you then you are a beginner and you should stick with the regular materials for now.

Are you even reading the same thread as the rest of us? Have I indicated anywhere my discomfort with any of the matters you mention? I don't think so but please quote me if I did.
I am quite versed in just about anything and everything computer hardware related, except LM.
Please get of your high horse and either be useful or silent.

Like I said if you feel comfortable with the basics then fair enough (note I did not directly quote you so as not to single you out) but my post was directed at the beginners because I am starting to see more dead systems from inexperienced people using liquid metal.

Realise that a lot of beginners read through these threads and some which you guys never see don't even post where as the resellers do ;)

I applied thermal non conductive paste in past many times, LM I applied twice but in wrong way on gpu,cpu in and out (delided) and that course the issue. Apologies for English.
I cannot find any link to movie how to apply LM on clevo p775dm3 if there is any please can someone link it. Appropriate for any help

Yes that's not even touching the fact that experienced people need to realise to treat liquid metal and thermal paste differently.

You may not have singled me out per-se, you did however seem quite clearly to respond to my messages and I doubt anyone would see that differently.
I agree that some people should not even think about using LM, but a fair warning aside this is not very constructive. It would be far better not to try and scare people off and just help them.

I'm sure you too have at one point taken the leap into LM territory, why not share your own experience and pitfalls.

I agree with @Meaker@Sager that LM is for highly experienced computer "geeks" that completely understand the risks involved.

I would say if you have at least successfully delidded a CPU using a razor or the vise "technique" in the past and use methods to ensure your heatsink is leveled, have at it. The delidding tools out there made delidding so easy, beginners are destroying their computers left and right.

I also mentioned I only use CLU because I feel Grizzly Conductonaut's is a bit more runny than CLU and my comment was dismissed. I have used both for the record.

@Xaiver2612 experience is too common now.

I made some pictures before i put back everything together when i applied LM Grizzly conductonauts. Is that this too much? there wasn't any leak from cpu or gpu after i fail test on benchmark .

PS. I delidded CPU using Razor few times already in couple of different machines P775DM1,DM3 and P751DM2 successfully with no problems at all

Yeah, this is too much. And You shouldn't paint it all the way out to the edge.

I use only 1 small dot for cpu and the rest on heatsink i did not applied more . Anyway looks like i need more experience to get . I'll stick with IC diamond 7 again when i get it back .
My another question is there point to replace themal pads for better quality and lower temps then stock clevo thermal pads?

It does not hurt with good pads, but the important thing is that they fit perfectly. Should not be of concern.
