I seriously question the realistic chance of shoehorning one of these into a full monitor. I dont think its safe/or a good idea.

HEHE, its upto you.
I jerry rigged my own Cintique'esque graphics tablet with a display from my old Compaq laptop using a Wacom Intuos 4. The bloody thing worked like a charm. Until i had to take it apart to move, and someone (aka. my sister) sat on the display

All I'm waiting for is swapping out my 980m sli for 1080 sli or 1080m sli. Give me that and I'll be happy. I even have a credit card put aside unused for when it's available.
-
Don't some reseller provide 0% APR financing option?
-
Maybe? But I'm going to get them though who I originally got my laptop from and see if they will buy back the 980m's... or I'll sell them on the side. I am considering getting a silicone lottery 6700k as well and have them install it with the new gpu's.

You can get a ready made controller off of eBay bebe.

So I'm possibly ditching the bastard Alienware 18 and acquiring one of these to rejoin my Alienware brethren, some questions though:
1. Is it fully unlocked? (Prema, you and I will need to talk...I have some of my own BIOS mods I would like to share with you provided it is AMI Aptio format)
2. Skylake CPUs...I'm unfamiliar with all of these models. What will work in here, and is there any preferred model or extreme edition? Can we run a CPU delidded? I have a IHS tool I use on the PS3, can it be used on this CPU too?
3. How is the build quality?
4. Go for G-Sync panel or the 4K AUO 90% gamut panel? -
1. If you get one from a prema partner, yes (and i believe that is the format he uses)
2.no extreme edition, delidded is fine
3. Excellent
4. Preference

1) Fully unlocked from Prema Partner Shops
2) They can be delided using a razor blade, should be able to use the IHS tool.
3) Build quality on the P870DM is good. Not as good as the Alienware M18x but still good.
4) Even the AUO panel supports G-SYNC now so it all comes down to your choice. -
Ok, sounds good..just gotta mull over the trade details.
Anybody have interest in dual booting Windows and OS X? I think with the AUO panel, it will roast anything Apple offers, and I will be needing @Prema BIOS as a base so I can add my specific DSDT and CPU patches to the BIOS, assuming I can reflash it back myself without a hardware flasher -
-
I'd have to go over it with him, whenever he has time. I hope that one guy didn't ruin it for everybody, I'm a developer too and hopefully he's willing to engage in conversation
-
I know the zm had the options and ability to use osx. I'll be getting a vanilla copy of the new version in a little over a week and the compatible Broadcom ngff WiFi card for native support. I can point you to were the settings are likely at, but since this is a different model. .. Meanwhile, i know Yosemite added Haswell support, but don't know if El capitan added Skylake or not (new to the os). Might pick your brain for help setting up...

More like needing to patch a specific register in the BIOS so that when AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement tries to alter C-state, it can without panicking or having to patch the kernel every update. Also more DSDT edits can be done and flashed on the BIOS level to have to avoid finagling with the bootloader options, always cleaner to do it at the lowest level possible. I assume since El-capitan was introduced prior to skylake, kernel support for the Skylake CPUs was introduced in a later update, so find the most updated image you can
-
June 13th is the new release, so el crapo, as it has been called, will be in the past and Skylake support assured. But i do hear you. This is my first venture with the os, and bootloader, so it is all learning for me.

be prepared for serious headache, OSx86 is not for the impatient. If/when I get a P870DM I will publish a guide with needed fileselectrosoft and ajc9988 like this.

I love learning and becoming frustrated setting up and troubleshooting computers, so it sounds just up my alley.

Hi guys you are my last chance...
I got frustrated becouse of the witcher 3. I had AW17 with radeon 7970m and I could play TW3 on med/high settings. But on my clevo with single gtx980 this game looks terrible. I just tried hundreds different settings and nothing helps. It runs on uber settings but picture quality is very grainy it looks like some kind of neting is on all textures. It is easly to seen when you run in forest. Iam waiting for replay from cd project red but it takes to long. Anyone from you had or has the same problem ?Attached Files:

My first install had some really jacked up textures, but after a deletion of the folder then a verify game cache steam reinstalled the game and i have had zero issues since. -

I was thinking a re-install would be worth trying, and thanks for pointing out to verify the game cache. Otherwise, do you know what Nvidia driver you might be using?
-
Thanks a lot guys for your sugestions... I've reinstalled it onec I did't tried game cache so will do that this evening. As far as I know my brother has the same problem on his desktop gtx970.. I'am using 362.03 drivers

Hi guys,
Do you know where I can buy a y-connector? I was told Sager no longer produces them.
Regards,
Mark -
Sager never made those connectors, cevo does.
You can check with RJ Tech or Eurocom or HIDEvolution. These 3 I'm sure might have it.temp00876 likes this. -
Thank you for that

Did you hear that from Sager directly, or was it from someone else? Just curious. It's been a little bit since I've asked for one. -
Hi Pat,
I asked the Sager distributor (Helix) here in the Philippines. They told me Sager does not manufacture it anymore.
Regards,
Mark -
I'm pretty sure that the adapter was manufactured by Chicony (like the PSUs) for Clevo, but it was only ever intended to be used with the P570 chassis. I would have thought that production of this part ceased a while ago, because Clevo wouldn't have asked Chicony to continue with any adapter production runs once the P570 was end of life.temp00876 likes this.

Im confused is the y adaptor the one that allows 2 psu's to be used?
-
Thanks, that would explain why Eurocom still has them.
Yes, it is the one used to connect two PSU's together. I need 660W because I'm tripping at 4.8Ghz using my 330W adapter
-
Ah, wasnt aware if you could use 2 psu's on the p870dm

We have a small number left as well and I expect that they can also be purchased through the respective Clevo service centers (one in the UK, one in Germany and one in the states).temp00876 likes this.

I bought mine off amazon and went back to buy a spare but they didn't have anymore. I haven't really needed mine yet as even overclocked I seem to be fine on one PSU. They are nice to have for sure, better buy them up quick! lol

What problem are you trying to fix with the flash?

just out of interest.

Then don't as you have nothing to gain and if something happens could brick your machine.

it works or not?
Gesendet von meinem SM-T810 mit Tapatalk -
It works, only if everything about the system is the same, but why do you want to even try it. There wont be any difference, since stock BIOS's are pretty much the same.
On the down side, if you mess up, your reseller might reject your warranty saying you flashed the wrong BIOS its your fault (rarely happens, but why take the chance).
And what if you need to send in your system for warranty and you cant flash the original BIOS back ?Last edited: Jun 8, 2016 -

yes you can -

@treffnic Just to echo the above comments, yes it is fine to use one of our EC/BIOS if it's a newer version but as other people said if you have a specific issue in the future then it's best to talk to the company that you bought the laptop from before updating. Please be aware that we have different versions available on the driver download page so you need the correct one i.e. with or without G-Sync

So basically, the P870DM officially is supposed to support a single 330w adapter but it works for us that already have it since Clevo didn't limit the power delivery?
hmscott likes this. -
I doubt even by default a single adapter can handle 2 x 980M's. I have not really measured their draw, so i might be wrong.
-
At stock clocks/volts, a single 330w adapter can power 2 x 980m SLI and the i7 CPU.
-
They actually did limit it, but I may have....ahhhm undid it for your Prema Mod versions...

So will the 1080 Desktop variant as well as the 1080m SLI variant sporting only one 330w brick?
hmscott likes this. -
Since I'll be likely swapping out my 980m sli setup with the 1080...im already set up for dual psu. So glad I opted for it. Just hoping these will be compatible with our machines.
