Welp, it's been almost an hour waiting for something positive to happen. No video on any of my monitors or the display. I guess she'll be heading in for repair! Boohoo.

@Mr. Fox
Considering that Phoenix has 200w and Wingman is 180w, which would you consider if I'm not interested in SLi? How does Wingman hold the OC compared to Phoenix (if both has prema bios/vbios)? Is there a considerable difference in OC headroom between Phoenix and Wingman that you would choose Phoenix over Wingman even though it's only running a single card? You also stated that the joined hsf can have an advese effect when doing heavy loads on both the cpu and gpu (on T|I)
I got around 2.5k to burn when the Pascal cards hit, and will buy from Hidevo (EVOC). What's weird is that they don't carry Wingman (only Eurocom does). -
Does anyone know if the P870DM fits in an Everki Beacon Laptop backpack? I would get the titan but I need it for Monday and Amazon only has the Beacon for next day delivery and nowhere else does next day delivery of the titan.

Damn. Just hope its not the motherboard. Best of luck.liquidbud likes this.

I've received the Thunderbolt 3/Type-C to thunderbolt adapter today, I'll test in a couple of days to see whether or not the Apple Thunderbolt Display works with it.
LOL I should have seen that coming. Thank you for making our laptops "limitless"
There's still a bit of headroom left as Meaker said, but once overclocked you'll be pushing it to the limit.
I never got to play with dual 980Ms in the P570WM sadly, but did get to play with the 10-core Xeon.
I never realized even the P570WM was able to be powered in games and such with a single 330w running a 130W CPU/2x 100W GPUs.
Looks good for the P870DM with two 1080Ms or maybe even 1080s.

I tote my p870dm in the beacon, no problem. It is a bit of a hassle to fit the notepal u3 in the main compartment, but once it is in, there is still plenty of room for the power brick, a 75% keyboard, 8" android tablet, and other misc. stuff.u07jrb likes this.

cheers. -
Which one did you buy and from where?
Would love to try it with my friend TB2 eGPU enclosure. -
The 200W card is the best version of all of them. We got to play with most of the others and not only does the core hit higher OCs as it has the most stable supply of juice, but also the vRAM hits 2000Mhz+ on almost two third of them compared to approximately only one third on the 180W model.
Don't get confused by the only 20W difference in stock spec, these monsters can consume some 250-300W once fully unleashed.
If you are not a half-time OCer then go for the Wingman as you will see decent results, but if you want to go full board there is only the PhoenIX.Last edited: Jun 10, 2016Papusan, jaybee83, Spartan@HIDevolution and 2 others like this. -

Hah! Yeah I have been CPU OC in the bios only, I have used throttlestop years ago when the core 2 duos came out but not since. Also Nvidia inspector is fine for benchmarking but at least 50% of the time the clocks don't take and I have to double or triple hit it to get them to go. I do NOT want to have to double check things every boot/resume.
That's also why I really hated XTU, every once and a while I would check things and find out my undervolt was no longer applied, really annoying. I need a reliable, predictable machine for my daily use and the more programs I have to fiddle with the more troubles I seem to have. -

The larger PCB allows for greater signal integrity on the 200W card which is why those memory clocks will be a fair bit higher. -

You really wanted a second PSU so as not to push it but it was doable in a pinch.ajc9988 likes this. -
Maybe it is time to use these two again. Works very well. Make up 2 or 3 profiles with click on the fly. XTU is trash, as it always has been. And should be avoided anyway if you have @Prema firmware or not...
-

For me I have to use it as it has voltage control where my bios does not

i actually like XTU, very easy to use and easy to change / reset values, as opposed to BIOS OC. just a pain to load into the firmware every time....
that doesnt mean that i dont support the Prema Mod all the way, just that i love it for its extra features that XTU doesnt offer, up to date firmwares and added compatibility to new hardware

I'm always leery when people say this. I remember a couple years ago asking about GPU overclocking and was told to use afterburner and RTSS or whatever it was called for OSD, and a few months later I came back and asked about some issues I was having and everyone said why are you using that? lol I can't win!
Can TS change voltage offset? I'm pretty sure it can do multipliers, that and the undervolt would be the two big things I would need to change to go from a daily single PSU overclock/undervolt to a more aggressive dual PSU overclock and possible overvolt.
I think when I checked for an updated inspector I already had the latest and it was ancient. Have you ever seen the clocks not apply? I see that all of the time, which is why I decided against messing with it this time. I don't want to find out I have been running off the wrong clocks because they were never applied properly. -

My favorite combo is using XTU to tweak and monitor but to actually lock in settings using the BIOS.hmscott, jaybee83, ajc9988 and 1 other person like this. -

I received one of these, but Windows 10 won't recognize it. Working through StarTechs support team to find a resolution. I think I might have a dud.

Are you on the stock BIOS ?
What are you trying to connect though. -
idk why, when I change a setting it keeps bricking my machine upon restart. not sure why.
throttlestop doesn't though, I think it's a much better choice compared to XTU (or prema bios if you buy from a partner) -
Stock BIOS. It won't detect the adapter by itself or the Thunderbolt 2 dock when connected through it.

Weird, ill probably get one next week. Will keep you guys posted.

Worst part is that I had it preordered for like six months because I early adopted TB3 and bought a TB2 dock. I can't even troubleshoot it any further now since I Darwin Awarded my freaking laptop. FML.

ThrottleStop does not interact with the bios and ThrottleStop does not apply any overclocking or voltage changes until after you boot up and log into Windows. I always thought that this was a safer way to do things. TS is also more efficient. Those fancy graphs in XTU look great but they come at a price. Even when minimized to the System Tray, XTU is gobbling up CPU resources that could be better used elsewhere.steberg, CaerCadarn, Prema and 4 others like this.

Yes. Throttlestop have several options for voltage settings. + You can put any multi you want. Up or down.
Nvidia Inspector work fine. Even the new MSI Afterburner can be used for overclocking(with tveak you can also put on extra voltage on gpu - up to 100mv if I remember correctly).Porter likes this. -

Can you point me in the right direction for a way for nvidia inspector to load my OC on startup? I have tried using both the "update clock startup task" in inspector, and also manually created a startup task in the task scheduler. No matter what I try it never loads the clocks and I always have to do it manually. I've been googling the issue all night and can't figure it out. Inspector 1.9.7.6 is what I am using.
*Nevermind, I finally put a 20 second delay in there and it works now. Funny how the clevo overclock program applies it instantly but inspector can't even do it in 10 seconds.Last edited: Jun 11, 2016hmscott likes this. -

Different methods and service start times can make it sensitive.
-
indeed, i had the same issue. tinkered around and found 16 seconds to be the minimum delay required for nvidia inspector to apply my ultra-powersaving clocks at boot via task scheduler

I hex edited my vbios to set the voltage curve and clock levels I wanted. It's a fair bit easier on amd cards.

Anyone noticed any wonky fan behavior? Like maybe the fans not turning on when they should. I have seen some odd issues at stock GPU clocks where it would skyrocket to 93C and throttle of course (crashing the driver too). Max fan lowers the temps to around 70, but then other times I can play on "auto" or "overclock" without issue.
I can't place my finger on this issue. I don't think it's a GPU hardware issue as it seems to be fine when the fan is working properly. I can play for hours then have problems for the next few hours. I'm starting to wonder if this is related to the other issues I have been seeing (can overclock fine one minute and the next day can only run stock clocks).
I don't think GPU drivers could have this effect but I have switched to 362, then to 365.19 both within the last couple days.
Could the "control center" app be the culprit? Does anyone but me use it and not have any issues? I like the quick way to change fans, power profiles all in one place.hmscott likes this. -
Well the thunderbolt 3 adapter didn't work. Keep getting a device not recognized error. Already tried the latest thunderbolt drivers.

That's the thing, I can't find any for it! Someone else had the same exact issue on amazon and updated their motherboard firmware and worked for them. There's no firmware update for the P870DM as far as I know.

Hmmm, might wanna check with Prema, if he knows anything. But I have a feeling we will need a BIOS update from CLEVO to get these fully working.
I might have access to a Razer core next week, will let you know if that works.Last edited: Jun 12, 2016hmscott likes this. -
I'm willing to test out some things. I can't contact Clevo but @Prema can and hopefully we can get thunderbolt 3 working properly. I'm going to ask B&H how long I have before the return window closes. I'm leaving for a week tomorrow so that already delays getting this thing to work...

@ssj92 there is an updated Thunderbolt firmware: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/p750dm-np9758-thunderbolt-3.789637/
Eurocom has it working: http://www.eurocom.com/ec/release(334)ec -
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. Something is wrong here, I'm missing a lot of things on my thunderbolt status page compared to the one in that post:

so you recommend me to revert back to the older 15.2.34.12 driver? I got that newer one from the P770DM download page -
@ssj92 @Phoenix It is not as simple as installing updated Intel Thunderbolt software. You also need the DSL6340 Thunderbolt 3/USB3.1 firmware. This is flashed separately from the BIOS and is updated from within Windows. I have (what appears to be) the firmware update for the P750DM series laptop, but I have not tried it as I don't have any Thunderbolt devices to test it anyways and would rather not brick my laptop needlessly!

Might want to pass it on to @ssj92 if hes willing to try it out.
