I think @thegh0sts meant that a laptop with less power can manage the work while @ParallelTwin sent back his P870 for new firmware. Not that he don't need more power than what a slimer weaker laptop can do...

Ah, That makes sense. I keep forgetting that the Prema Bios can't be flashed by the user anymore, due to someone's shenanigans. I admit that it would have been a nice feature to have on my unit, but I won't lose any sleep over it. With any luck, mayhap Prema will release the bios/vbios to us once a new flagship is out... :)

The bios should be available when the new model is out.

Edit: i meant that more as a request than an announcement.

    @clevo-extreme you hear that? ;)

Also @Prema, what's the best timeline for the 1080M? Will there be any chance of it fitting in a standard MXM slot like in P771ZM? :D

    Doesn't matter to me :p
I have barely used the keyboard like 10-15 times .

But yeah, that's me being selfish i guess. I really don't want to have to jump through hoops just to upgrade the GPU.

If they use the same keyboard, which sounds like they would, I am switching to a whole new brand with a proper keyboard! I keep going nuts every time I wanna type on this piece of trash tiny keyboard!

Just been observing the thread and have been awaiting the 1080m and desktop edition official/paper launch announcement. :) Been super busy (military stuff), so all I've had time to do is skim posts and give likes. I'll be gone even more until September, which is likely when the new models/refreshes should hit the market I'd imagine.

Anyway...Glad to hear the p870dm refresh will be the same chassis (which means I won't necessarily need to exchange/sell my machine towards a new model, just sell the graphics cards or talk to my reseller about the difference I'll have to pay for 1080m SLI since they'll essentially be the replacement for the current. I have a good relationship with them so this is everything I'd been hoping for at the very least. :)

Tell me, do you know if a 4K G-sync @120Hz (IPS, AUO or TN) panel is on the horizon for the P870DM-G?

But logically, there aren't any other better laptops on the market. And the keyboard is kind of a small drawback considering that this system offers :D

And IMO there are much much, worse keyboards out there. Actually the only keyboard I have liked better was the GT80 and that was mechanical. Every other gaming laptop I've had was mushy feeling with flex while this keyboard feels solid. I know Lenovo business class laptops are known for great keyboards but I don't have any special love for my work laptop, just feels like a normal keyboard to me.

I have tried the Alienware 18 and even the ASUS G751JY keyboards and they feel way better and easier to type on as the keys are not so close to each other like this one it seems all squashed together and you have this empty black space all over the place, what a waste

Hello everyone... It's done: i ordered my P870-G + 660 Watts from EVOC, Prema Bios included, few minutes ago...
I'll need some help for installation of NVMe SSd in Raid 0 and first booting with Win 10 Pro
By the way, also need your evaluation with the Bios settings i pre-ordered:
    45 x Multiplier and ( -30mV ) Core offset ( i7 6700 k Silicon Lottery delidded 4.7 Ghz Tested )
    UEFI Boot
    Ram settings: 99 Mhz x 27 with DDR4 HyperX 2400, for a 2666 Mhz attempted.

Telling Hide Evolution i attended this forum gave me a rebate that pays for an external DVD player.
Next time i buy a Porsche, i tell about you, who knows ?

Congratulations! The EVOC is the best version of the P870DM!

I have the same laptop also bought from HIDevolution but it's a Eurocom because at that time, they weren't a Prema Partner so I asked them to get me a Eurocom Sky X9 just for the Prema BIOS

I then also upgraded to the faster 3000 MHz. G.Skill RAM and a factory delidded Silicon Lottery CPU rated @ 4.8 GHz (equivalent to 4.5-4.6 GHz on a laptop)

Please ensure you put IC Diamond thermal paste on the CPU and not Liquid Ultra because of how the heatsink is designed, liquid ultra doesn't make good contact between the CPU and heatsink so IC Diamond is better as it makes better contact.

A lot of the heatsink is uneven/warped. Don't waste your time and money on other paste than ICD. Or prep the heatsink for Liquid metal!!!

Yes, you need to be very careful with CLU when applying it, otherwise it could short something out and its probably not covered by warranty on that.

If you received a good heatsink... Go for Liquid ultra. I have very good results with Grizzly Conductonaut. Same good results if you prep a not so good one(not a very bad one). None conventional paste can beat Liquid metal!!! Also Liquid metal pads from CLU can be a good choice on uneven/warped heatsink with some prep. Don't give up before you have tried all choices.

Yeah I've got an absolutely unacceptable gimp of a Heatsink I'm trying to RMA with Xotic right now. Don't know how this thing got through QC.

Totally agree though. Regarding pastes the choice is easy. Liquid Metal Ultra.

@thegh0sts ICD is probably one of the best conventional pastes. It doesn't scratch if you let the TIM removal solution sit for a while and break it down.
