So, short answer is the os has more behind the scenes monitoring, etc. Even with the Spyware blocked. The only way to fix it is a custom built rom with the modules removed! The tech preview, not insider preview but before that, was stripped down lean and hungry, going toe-to-toe with win 7, trading blows. Every build, it got worse and worse until it devolved into the piece of sh1t it is today! Remove the right modules and kill Cortana (can't fully remove the module, but can neuter it with shell commands) and you'll see an improvement. ..

Interesting. If someone with some skills could make that happen with a .bat file we could launch on start-up..
-
It can have unforeseen consequences and potential stability issues and is done only once. I'll see if I can find my old research on how to do it (been over a year since I worked on fixing their first release, I went back to win 7). I'll see what I can find again, but will warn you, be prepared to reinstall windows or implement a backup image in cas **** goes sideways!

I'd love to have a look into it. Thanks for sharing if you find it. Yeah I'd definitely be creating an image prior.

does the P870DM have 3/4 point multi touch trackpad for advanced windows 10 gestures such as this one: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...e2a1242e28ac/touchpad-gestures-for-windows-10
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I believe not, it relies on the gestures built into the driver.
-
but if the driver support multi finger gesture, then shouldn't windows be able to utilize advanced gestures? -
I have tried 3 points gestures for sure. And they work. I think i mapped my 3 finger tap and hold to middle mouse or something. Not sure about 4 point though. Haven't tried that .
-

I never use my touch pad. If I do, I feel I am disabled and can't work
Real mice FTW
-
do you have to set this manually to work? aw touchpad on w10 works with multi gesture out of the box. -
I think so in the synaptic app or something.
End of the day, I have not used anything more than 2 point gestures than 3- 4 times.
Windows isn't quite gesture friendly I think. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes you can configure the set if you right click on the touchpad symbol and play with the settings

hmmm...quantum break seems to be notorious for running no so great as i can't seem to hold 30fps on ultra. oh well.

Umm ive started paying some games from my steam back log. Atm its tomb raider (2013 one) and when i select exlusive full screen option i get the bottom win10 bar overlayed and mouse pointer is not locked to the game. Dont suppose theres a simlle fix for this?
-
i think the latest nvidia drivers are crappy cos they caused overwatch to crash on both stock and oc....kinda doubt it's a hardware issue so quickly.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If its only a single title it's far more likely to be a software issue.

Do you perhaps have TeamViewer running? My laptop would do this and exiting TeamViewer would fix it. -
Well, I don't think so. I had already done all of those things and more manually using registry hacks and third party utilities. There's not much you can do for this turd OS, really. It is perma-broken at its foundation, just like the company that makes it.
I just clean installed a stripped down version of Enterprise with literally everything weird, stupid and nasty about Windows 10 removed and it did not make one ounce of difference in performance. No telemetry, no Cortana, no apps, ALL OF IT wiped out at the WIM file level and all associations removed. Zero improvement in performance and still sucks like a hoover on steroids. It's just a piece of trash like Windows 8.X and that's all there is to it. Did absolutely nothing for improving sucky Windows 10 physics performance. If I could use it for toilet paper, I would, because that's about all it's good for. If I could write down every obscene, filthy, nasty word from every language and every tongue and recite them all five times it still wouldn't be enough to express my disgust with Micro$haft's garbage.
I do like it better this way though. At least it's not crippled AS BAD and the UI isn't quite a screwed up as stock, so that's good. Thanks to @j95 for pointing me here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/66640-How-to-Make-a-Windows-10-quot-Super-LTSB-quot-ISOLast edited: Jul 9, 2016 -

I'll do that for my next ?Windows 10 Pro ISO which is the anniversary update scheduled for release on the 2nd of August
Can you please post this MSMG toolkit tweak in the Windows 10 Tweaks & Fixes thread -
Sure. Not much left on the start menu. All the bloat crApps are gone bye-bye along with that filthy slut, Cortana and all of her spyware cooties.

Fair enough. Looks like they baked in the ****tiness deep. I am considering installing a stripped down version again, but haven't yet. I'm also rolling around the idea of a custom heatsink for direct to die on my zm. Considering it is, after designing more depth to the plate, a matter of replacing the lever arm with a washer and gasket to allow for it to sit on the die, this would potentially be the best solution. Just have to see what I can do with a local coop that just opened or how much a prototype from a manufacturer would cost (may have to buy 5 prototypes to get it produced from one company I'm considering)...

Classic Shell + THIS
Use my Classic Shell XML File to quickly configure it and make it look like Windows 7 without having to go through 10s of options manually -
Classic Shell is awesome, but I still prefer StartIsBack. They are both excellent. Also grab the old Windows calculator and WinAeroTweaker utility from the WinAero web site.
Most of those tweaks are in the Windows 10 Tweaks and Tips thread. Look at the index in post #1.
This helps fix the blinding white and ugly pastel feces. http://www.glass8.eu/ and it's how I got transparency back for Windows 8.X and 10.

what is that integrity check disabler bro? why is this not in our Tweaks thread? or is it?Georgel likes this. -
Are you talking about this?
It should already be there. It takes disabling DSE to the next level. I don't have to reboot and select the option to disable DSE from the Legacy Menu with that. I can install modded drivers whenever I want to the same as signed drivers.Code:bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on

@Mr. Fox - does the P870DM improve from cooling mods to seal the fans and heatsink as done in the P370?
Also, is the Z170 PCH covered by a heatsink or left bare? -
They have a flap from the heat sink radiator that seals against the fan and the PCH does have a heat sink. This photo shows the BIOS chip (foreground) and the PCH heat sink. I've never seen the PCH get hot on the P870DM. My PCH temps are always excellent.
-
good to know, is it easily accessible?
is it thermal pad or thermal paste? do you recommend to replace the TIM? -
It uses thermal pads. End of the day since its passively cooled no point in changing the pads.
-
fuji 17w/mk does make a difference though -
OK look at it this way, sure the pads will conduct and transfer the heat faster. But where will it go ? There are no active fans cooling it. It all stays there. Ultimately the temps will remain the same. Unless that heat sink is changed to something else. More or less the drop in temps wont be worth the cost.

m.2 drives - i have a spare slot for one and i would like to make use of it...any brand suggestions?
i probably don't intend to do any overclocking though i doubt the OC i have done would have caused any permanent damage. -
ok thanks
@thegh0sts - 950 pro? -
If you need help OC'ng the processor hit me up tomorrow. Or check with @Phoenix if he can help. He has a lot of helpful material around that will get you started, but they need further fine tuning because every processor is different and there is always room to drop voltages and in turn the temperatures.
As for the M.2 Drives, i love my 950 Pro's ( i hate RAID) and i do have a 850 Evo M.2 As well. In normal use there is barely any noticeable difference between the 2. -
ok cool, a 950 pro 512gb would be good to do some game capture.
-
You could also go with SanDisk X400. Compared to the 950 Pro it's much cheaper and Performance is not that far away either.
IIRC @Mr. Fox uses them and was satisfied with these. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It depends how much space you need and your budget. If you need the space the x400 is a great way of getting it.

Make sure you do your research on AUSTRALIAN warranty should your drive fail. As I said in a previous post, even "elite" brands like Intel can screw you over if you live in Oz. The ACC will cover you only so far (if you can even be bothered going down that route). A number of the cheaper brands sold down here have zero direct support options in Australia, meaning you'll need to take it back to the place you bought it (assuming they are still around - it isn't uncommon for a lot of smaller online computer companies down here to come and go overnight). Also consider local warranty vs buying the item from overseas and importing (meaning the most you get is 1 year local regardless of what the actual warranty states). All of this is pretty important when you see items advertised as "5 year warranty" etc.
I ended up going with the 950 Pro, because Samsung offer a 5 year local warranty on the drive, and they allow you to return it to a local Samsung service center here in Australia for any warranty claims. You pay more for the 950 Pro being a new tech, but I think it's worth it when you factor support in. If you don't like the idea of cutting edge NAND / NVMe tech just yet, maybe consider the Samsung 850?CaerCadarn likes this. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There is the sm961 as well but it is an OEM drive so the warranty thing comes into play again.
-
Thank you for pointing that out! Didn't thought about that.
My equipment mainly consists of second hand hardware and they never failed me. That's why I don't care much about warranty issues. -
I went with 850s, primarily becuase they were so cheap on amazon at the timebloodhawk likes this.
