Yes, the Razer core is quite scarce now. Have you checked the PC devil box? It looks nice too, not sure about performance.

It has not been released yet.
And with the way most of these cases are being delayed there is something else at play here. Otherwise there is no reason for things to be as delayed as they already have been. And then the whole Thunder 3 boxes suddenly becoming unavailable.
Some Intel/Apple licensing BS going on .

He wasn't able to fit it in because the card is too long for the the chasis.

Doesn't fit. 122mm from slot to tip of the 1080, 112mm from slot to the bottom case in the P870DM. You can probably make it work with a case mod, since the P870DM3 case basically looks similar with that piece removed.

And that reminds me, where's my DOTA2 cookie?

If you include photos of the card being installed to the slot that fits the new heatsink (overview and location its making contact with the chassis), I can get a better idea of what I will be dremeling out and so on.

EDIT: Also I've heard of the new card using a different connector for power, would this impact it at all? @Prema

I don't have a DM2 heatsink. But upon thinking about it more, it may simply be sufficient to remove the motherboard, install the card, and replace it. The offending piece is pictured below. I don't remember how deep the plastic goes and don't have my P870DM with me at the moment, but it looks like the card may fit underneath. You will definitely need a power cable adapter though, and that may not even be enough depending on the exact specs.

I tried to update my NVIDIA drivers to the latest 372.70 and now my secondary GPU has been disabled in Device Manager and gives a Code 43 error, my display is currently running on the iGPU. Has anyone encountered this issue with their P870DM-G? Mine just came back from the repair depot at Clevo about two months ago for a GPU replacement. Ugh!

The iGPU is physically disabled, meaning it cannot be running on iGPU. Some at this or that caused it. Either way, you need to disable automatic driver download and install, boot into safe mode, run DDU, then boot into Windows and install the driver. This driver should be downloaded before starting the process. If you are running a modified driver, you must doable driver signature enforcement before installing the driver. Hope this helps @liquidbud.

    3. boot into safe mode and run DDU and remove the video drivers for both intel and nvidia
    4. open windows computer properties> advanced system properties>hardware tab> device installation settings: do not allow windows to install hardware drivers.
    5. reboot into to normal mode and install your nvidia drivers.

You can do the part about the device installation first if you want DDU to reboot immediately after finished.

Ok. So, this is from the Nvidia boards, so grain of salt (users not Nvidia because they don't give a **** and don't provide support...). Some people have this with sli and it having a driver conflict as it applies one driver to one, one driver to another. This is why it worked for some. Others solved it by removing the battery and power cord and draining energy from the system by holding down the per button after. It is unclear, but doubtful, they removed the cmos battery as well. Others did a usb Linux boot, manually installed the driver on the Linux usb, then it supposedly was gone on Windows, which makes no sense unless it is something on the card flipped out corrupted and is fixed when installing the driver on Linux. So, those are the initial things I'd try. Potentially turning off Windows driver install. Disable and uninstall driver adapters while in Windows. Pull battery, cmos, and ac to reset all (write down your bios settings). Safe mode and DDU. Repeat cmos pull. Then boot and install driver. May take time, but it does all except the Linux based solution...

I'm so angry. I bought P870DM-G last February with i7-6700K, gtx980, nvme drives, costed me EUR 3700. Now, can't upgrade GPU with new Pascal cards :-(, also PS4 just puts out a new console that has GPU as powerful as GTX 980 for $400. Four. Hundred. Dollarz.

    WTF.

Gaming laptop is dumbest and stupidest idea ever made in brain.

I will never be this dumb again.

    SRSLY.

    PS4 Neo = 4.2 TFlop

    RX 480 (same arch) = 5.8TFlop

    RX 480 = roughly GTX 970 performance. PS4 Neo = 27% slower than GTX970.

    GTX 980 = 20% faster than the 970.

    Using the 970 as a base, PS4 Neo = 0.73, GTX 980 = 1.2

    0.73/1.2 = 61% of the performance of a GTX 980.

Yeah, that's really bad luck! I feel with ya!

Clevo screwed us all by doing this without having a hint on that. Very customer unfriendly!

It's like buying a car: the first time you get in it, the car looses halve its value. That's why I never ever would buy a new rig....

    Check yourself: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2621/geforce-gtx-980. GTX 980 FP performance is 4.6 TFlop. PS4 Pro is 4.2 TFlop. 4.2/4.6*100 = 91%.

If Tflops represented actual performance in games, AMD would be bulldozing Nvidia. I mean, unless you're using a PS4 to mine BTC? Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Not to mention the 6700K CPU destroys the PS4 Pro's Jaguar CPU and these Clevos have at least 16GB of DDR4 system ram, in addition to the GTX 980's dedicated 8GB of GDDR5. The PS4 shares it's 8GB of GDDR5 between the GPU and the CPU.

It's not even close in terms of overall performance.

Worry not. Do you really want to be playing 30fps garbage? Even if the new machine can pull 4k on medium...its going to be more of the same 30fps garbage with heavy blur and input lag to hide the hideous frame rate. Eww.

    They'd be mortified lol.
I mostly drive and it usually stays home.
I had an internet guy come do an installation once and he was pretty impressed with the m18x r2 that it had HDMI in.

This is true. The average person has no idea about PCs or PC gaming. Even when it comes to games - graphics don't sell games to kids like they do in the western cultures.

There is a extremely small niche' who are likely reasonably hardcore. I noticed Japan buys the second most amount of Rockit Cool Deliders lol - extrapolate what you will.
Fortunately hardware is mostly ubiquitous and I can usually get what I want locally. But any expressive computer culture itself is mostly relegated to Akihabara together with Anime geeks and console lovers.

The problem I have with PCMR is they'll celebrate 60 fps only because they're winning against a console but not take a stand if a games is locked to 60 fps on PC. See the problem there?..

It's more a a problem with the fresh console converts. In any event, I only care because it's that attitude that let's Dev's get away with putting out gimped rubbish.

Interestingly it draws large parallels to a big part of the laptop e̶n̶t̶h̶u̶s̶i̶a̶s̶t̶ scene too. I'm sure you can all connect the dots ;)

    @CaerCadarn

Yeah heaven forbid anyone say BGA is a fail in high end machines without some emotionally immature person taking it personally, having a tantrum and spamming the 'report' button. Best keep such hate speech welled up inside.

It's a little like school teachers aren't allowed to give 'F's for' Fail' on report cards now.

Sheesh.. Waiting for a new machine to come feels like an eternity. My wife's 10" Levono hybrid isn't going to hold down the fort much longer.
I got Max Payne 1 running at 60fps and HDMI outted to my monitor... Now there's an achievement :D

There's always a chance of that happening. It's disappointing when it happens and turns toxic. No will ever agree on everything but without reason and discussion we're all non the wiser. I'd sooner infractions go out to people who aren't prepared to put on their big boy pants and engage civilly, rather than threads get shut down.

There is certainly a debate to be had, it was just started on the wrong foot by a certain group. We need constructive feedback which I am trying to give :)

Sorry lads. No go without a case mod minimum. Card falls right on top of a screw hole that goes all the way down.

Clevo created their Dm1 models the wrong way from the start or they designed DM1 the way to screw us. Interpret this as you will!!

Well that sucks, waiting to see if Clevo offers us upgrade kits otherwise I'll probably just beef up the desktop after selling my P870DM.
