i saw that but you'd need...

    1. an SLI bridge cable
    2. 2 x 330w PSUs
    3. a PSU converter box

cos 1 x 330w PSU isn't enough to power it in SLI mode.

then you'll need to get 2 1070s with an SLI connector. do a bit of case modding and card shaving to get it to fit.

would be interested in seeing how that turns out!

Befor that, I just want to make sure there is no 1080 will appear suddenly within few weeks, that's why I asked @Prema to give us any information can help us to decide. 1080 even one card will be better. Hope that he can give us the answer soon.

the red line is what you would need to cut out in order to fit the slave GPU and it's not that bad since it doesn't even contact the motherboard and you won't lose any mounting posts.

installing and removing RAM sticks might be a bit tricky but not bad as there should be enough space to pull the arms away from the modules.

@Meaker@Sager said that the MSI 1080s may have the dies shifted a bit. A 1070 desktop is as powerful as a titan x maxwell and having 2 laptop 1070s is still pretty good.

the slave GPU doesn't completely touch the RAM modules and you still have a bit of space to remove the modules so you can still use all 4 slots nicely.

I see this in the web page of eurocom:

RAID 0 - for maximum performance; 2x M.2 PCIe / SATA are required; NVMe SSD are not RAIDable

That's not true, I had 2x 950 PRO NVMe SSDs installed in RAID 0

you just need the Samsung 950/960 Pro/960 EVO NVMe Driver v2.0 (INF) otherwise the SSDs / RAID Array won't show up in the Windows setup / partition selection screen

well, if eurocom did it then i should be able to do it.

will be trying j95's modded drivers (he stated that he added support / there's already support for the MSI 1070) to see if they work.

Because Alienware have a bad reputation for selling low quality cards
Because AW cards generally have problems in Clevo laptops with the missing EC signal thing
Because who would pay for two of them when they're last gen tech and a 1070 is the same-ish price and more powerful for less power

I am surprised no one tried in the DM. Maybe everyone who could, knew that Pascal was coming soon, and wanted to save their pennies.

Lol @ " VR ready" though. Not since Nvidia shifted the goal posts to Pascal minimum...

The problem with those cards was heat. We need better heatsinks to take care of the heat.

Also you will have to modify the 980M heatsinks since the cards are longer and have additional components that need cooling.

for a moment i thought you were talking about the 1070 but then i realised it was about the 980DT.

that shouldn't be a problem with the MSI 1070 since it uses slightly more than the 980M and you get 50-60% more GPU power. When mine arrives I'm just gonna do a minor OC to match the desktop boost speed and hopefully get better performance because of that extra cluster.

EDIT: The dream here is to see if it's possible to do 2 x MSI 1070s in SLI with the P870DM-G (G1) / "Gen-1" with a bit of modding. We've already outline the possible internal structural changes and issues with regards to spacing between the master and slave drives, which are pretty minor and i think it is possible with 660W power input.

EDIT2: I wonder if i can get a decent amount for the 980 LOL

I think you don't need to cut out the wall completely but just cut out the top half of the wall that's next to the slave GPU. that can be done with a dremel, sandpaper, steady hands, and a lot of patience.

Oh man, probably from trying to reinsert the gpu. Must have bumped something to break the contacts in the slot.

There goes the warranty... Oh well.

Might have to go to eurocom and buy the part there and hope the reassembly is easy.

This is bad news, I'm sorry for what happened to you we were waiting for you to give us your experience with the 1070, now you have another problem to fix 1st.
I lost my 2 980m GPU'S in a tragedy accident with CLU leaked on their boards. I'm thinking to sell the whole machine because of that, or waiting to make sure that I can upgrade to any new Pascal's
