+100% wouldn't do it myself but it's his laptop so I don't gaf or judge it

Besides, modding stuff into the aux power ports is good info for other hard mods down the line should others wish to try them ;p

dunno why but green is the best. green seems to go well with me since it's the colour associated with one's birth date.

so somehow i got stuck with green so gonna make use of it lol

    anyway... back to laptops......

What do you guys consider bench stable for an OC?
I use AIDA64 CPU+FPU+cache+memory stress for temps and TS Bench 1024M for volts as it seems to be the most sensitive for BSOD.

A nice stress test wPRIME v1.5 [Run as adm, Select 8 threads in Advanced settings and fire up 1024M].
If you want test with higher cpu temp in Aida64 cpu stress test... Check only the box with stress FPU and uncheck all other boxes (will give a higher load on processor).
Stable is when everything work alright for your use. In bench, work or gaming.

    sacrilege!

Personally I just use whatever benchmarks I want to benchmark in + whatever games I game in/play. If I can do all those things and it's stable it's stable. If it never BSODs, thermal throttles or gets errors in all my usage scenios then that's perfect. I don't require to run it for 24 hours in a pissing contest :)
One of the harshest things I occasionally do is real word use in Handbrake.

Personally I stress test 5~8 hours in RealBench with maximum system memory selected.
So far it's been good for me, didn't get any CPU related BSOD or power lost during heavy gaming and work.
There is a suggestion list that I like in the Skylake Overclocking Guide on overclock.net:
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1570313/skylake-overclocking-guide-with-statistics

    overclock.net.jpg
It really depends on how you use the machine, and the tolerance that you can have for BSOD or crashes.

Hey guys, I'm still having issues with my colors, just wondering if yours is the same? My blue LEDs dont seem to be bright enough and get overwhelmed by any other color. The Sager support guy wanted me to set my colors to 3 parts, from left to right he wanted Blue, Red, Green.

Max brightness with regular room light
    https://goo.gl/photos/9AoCJqx75W2YHvTB7

Lowest brightness with regular room light
    https://goo.gl/photos/2NXvBQNzK2PQdWak7

Max brightness and no lights on
    https://goo.gl/photos/D89rK67godk7By8s5

Lowest brightness and no lights on
    https://goo.gl/photos/Sv2GAopcmUiHnDqBA

As you can see it's not very blue and its more a purple which seems like the red is dominating the blue leds, or rather maybe the blue leds are not working correctly it seems. Using the .50 version of the control center. Is that for everyone or is it just me?

I believe prema has them listed over at tech inferno, otherwise there is a single screw near the CPU heatsink under the main cover and then a hole next to the CPU heatsink to push through to bring the keyboard up (it's secured with magnets. Gently pop it up (with the screen open) and you can look at the cables.

I dunno not *everyone* is scared of mods and it's got power on it's side. People watching the market know they will not get any change from 3000 for desktop i7 + 1070 + 17 inch + your other stuff.

You'd probably get more by selling as much as you can separately (half your ram, the 950s)

But it would be a loss that'd make you cry in any case...

You already enjoyed modding/upgrading your P870DM, you have some benefits for yourself, but the resellers got more advantage than you, maybe they should help you to cover some of that cost and support you to get a new machine, I would do that if I was them.

Still getting bloody throttling from somewhere.

Throttlestop shows the limit as "EDP OTHER"
HWinfo shows as 'yes' under both
"IA: Electrical Design Point/Other (ICCMax,PL4,SVID,DDR RAPL)" and
"RING: Max VR Voltage, ICCMax, PL4"

If this ICCMax is the problem since it's common to both throttle issues in hwinfo, how do I raise it?

If you reset everything to stock and it does it then reflash the BIOS/EC as something might have got confused in the firmware.

If you see the BIOS screenshots I posted everything follows those values (except PL3 time window which Phoenix sets below the minimum anyway)

It shows up as "Current Limit Throttling" in XTU... I thought this issue was completely removed by Prema bios? hmmmm

Try reset the BIOS, re-flash BIOS and EC, then try your settings again, I faced some unusual behavior with my BIOS, sometimes the settings not applied, sometimes even after reset I got wrong values effecting the laptop whole performance and I need manually set the default values, make sure that you have the latest BIOS version from @Prema

    Magic!

He bought my P870DM3 which had that 3K 120hz/5ms panel, he didn't like it that much, so he put that screen in his older P870DM and used the screen on his P870DM to swap it and put it in his new P870DM3.

Be smart, be like bloodhawk

color wise and clarity, yes, smoothness and gaming overall joy, the 3K 120hz/5ms

What would I choose if I had to pick only one? the IPS 75hz FHD GSYNC one, the colors are more vivid / text appears sharper

I had the same problem before when I was having my overclocked 970M SLI, I tried out everything within my knowledge still couldn't solve it.
At the end @Prema helped me with a stronger EC to cope with this.
This problem was discussed here before:
    https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/2442-biosvbios-mods-prema-mod™-stock/&page=143
Mr.Fox also made a video about it:

I saw that vid - though I disagree with his contention that 'performance isn't affected', my IBT throughput at 4.6 with throttle is lower than what I get at 4.5 with throttle or 4.4 without.

and thanks for the thread link. Maybe the guy I bought this off didn't flash the EC, only prema bios... Anyway Prema made a BIOS+EC for me to try and get this 4K panel flawless - so I'll try that when I can :)

I'm itching to do a mod to this thing... but time, the rx480 not working, a 1070 non-sli being not a huge amount better than 980m sli, the 1070 sli version not working on the internal panel of the one guy who's tried it, plus a huge backlog of games I still have to churn through (what a chore)...

A pair of 980Ms is still doing fine for FHD/QHD gaming, and they can be overclocked to 1202~1290 MHz for core and 5500 MHz for vram for stable use. That might bring you some extra 10% performance and compensate some SLI scaling inefficiency.
According to rumor, Volta might come earlier. So maybe wait and see what NV will offer next and if MSI will still make the standard board for 1170 or so...
I am dreaming Ryzen 1800X with RX490 crossfire in a Clevo machine. :p
