yep, said to have been sent and takes 13-20 days and August 10th is the last date of the delivery window. if it still arrives after i dispute i'll keep the dispute open till it's resolved.

 

Good idea as you only have a certain window for a dispute if it's ebay, not sure about Ali.

 

i plan to dispute if it doesn't arrive by August 10. After August 10 I'll file for dispute, and I'll keep it active until it's resolved (even if it does arrive outside the window).

 

Good idea. I got stung recently, eBay part marked sent didn't turn up for the first time ever, contacted seller and started a dispute, they said they'd send another if i closed the dispute. The alleged replacement never came either. Only a $5 part tho.

 

I just want it to arrive so I can do the upgrade.

About year ago I purchased Clevo P870DM-G with i7 6700K and GTX 980 8GB on board (desktop versions). Windows 10 Pro x64.

PROBLEM: Since the begging I was using it with external 144 Hz monitor Acer XB270HU connected via DisplayPort and since the begging there's an issue with random signal loss. Usually screen of my XB270HU goes black for few seconds and then comes back (at that time blue light on monitor goes orange which indicates no signal), sometimes it flickers black quickly and then returns. Most of the times when it happens I can hear the Windows "device disconnected" sound. This issue is so random it can happen 3-4 times a day or once every three day. In some cases the side effect of that is that when the screen returns from black maximum refresh rate available is only 85 Hz instead of default 144 Hz. To fix the refresh rate issue I have to turn off monitor, unplug DisplayPort cable, plug it back in and turn on the monitor.

Problem did not occur for 2 weeks when my Acer XB270HU was plugged to another PC.

Problem does not occur on my Samsung TV which is plugged to my laptop via HDMI.


What I've tried already:

1. Changing cable. I've read a lot about DisplayPort cables and I've learned that long, bad quality cables can cause issues like that so I've bought the best and the shortest cable available on my market (I'm from EU). I've felt like it reduced frequency of the problem but it may be the placebo effect because it's so random. Recently I've bought another, supposably even better, certified by DisplayPort organization cable "Accell Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable". It didn't change anything, the issue still occurs.

2. Installing newest NVIDIA drivers with DDU in Safe Mode.

3. Format C:, new fresh system.

4. Some "magic" tricks found online with pluging off monitor and holding the power button down for 30 sec.

5. Setting all possible options to High Performance.

6. Changing DisplayPort slots on my laptop.



Nothing helps It is also not related to any application, it can happen during gaming, watching movies or browsing the Internet. So I figured out it must be hardware related, problably video card.

I've spend a lot of time searching for a fix and only recently I've found by accident someone on EVGA forum with exactly the same problem as mine. He claims that changing his GTX 980 vBIOS from the old version (84.04.2F.00.80) to a newer 84.04.31.00.83 provided via email by EVGA support actually FIXED his issue. My current vBIOS version is: 84.04.88.00.2E
My GTX 980 ID is: 10DE 161A

I know it's not possible to flash my Clevo GTX 980 with EVGA's vBIOS, but I would be ecstatic after all that time if my issue was also as easy to fix. I've searched online, but I couldn't find any newer matching vBIOS on techpowerup.com or anywhere else. Obviously either Clevo or my reseller does not provide on their websites any type of vBIOS, but I've e-mailed them today and will see what they respond.

I really don't want to return my laptop although I still have 2 year of warranty but I will do it eventually if nothing helps.


Anyway, I was wondering guys if any of you ever had simmilar issue? Or can help me? Or just provide information about vBIOS version of your GTX 980 from yours Clevo P870DM-G?

 

Nope havent had this issue, i was running 2 x 144Hz 1440p ASUS MG279Q monitors off of my P870DM-G and no issues at all.

How ever i had a similar issue on my Benq SW2700PT 1440p monitor hooked up to my desktop. And the only thing that helped was a new monitor.

Your issue might be different, but i would not rule out a defective monitor, unless it works perfectly fine with another system.

A friend was having exactly the same issue as you are with the exact same monitor hooked up to his desktop GTX 980, he ended up returning it and getting an ASUS IIRC.

 

I forgot to add problem did not occur for 2 weeks when my Acer XB270HU was plugged to another, much older PC.


There is something strange going on with that GTX 980 + Acer XB270HU configuration :/

Hey @LoneSyndal, I was the user that had the same issue you are having.

Prema was able to make a special bios that did indeed fix the issue (at least the issue of windows detecting the GPU)

It's registering as a 0870 I believe in windows, but the special bios made it come out as 0871.

I did have flickering issues when loading, even while loading from post, the black screen with the "PremaMod" logo at the start. But during windows and such, no flickering at all

Really weird how @bloodhawk had no issues whatsoever with his machine. Made us believe that the Origin's version had some weird EC originally or something

 

I have it installed in the DM1 right now and its working normal as usual.
Prema might know whats up but im not sure why it would do this for 2 x exactly similar configs. Specially since Prema's mod updates the EC as well .

 

if i get the approval for my Canadian PR I might have to get a slimmer laptop and sell the DM1.

EDIT: After 15 working days the tracking number for my 4K panel still didn't work so I've put in a dispute to get my money back.

 

I pretty much in the "sell the P870DM-G" mood.

 

I don't think I'll get that 4K screen. the latest arrival date is august 10 and it's already august 7 where I am.

Noone will do anything until max delivery window is finished. They may even tell you to wait a bit longer.

 

What's the main problem is the tracking number is a complete dud. after 15 working days it still doesn't work.

I even had to get help from the aliexpress sub-reddit and they suggested to lodge a dispute before the buyer protection period runs out.

What makes it worse is that the seller I bought from is no longer on aliexpress, their store page just 404s out.

Aliexpress buyer protection is another 45 or 60 days or something isn't it? I forget it's been years since I had to lodge one

Smart sellers use proper tracking for more expensive things. If theres no proof of delivery all the onus of loss in transit is on them.

I always find 17track.net to get the most tracking info even stuff the carriers own tracking doesn't show

ePacket and EMS for me have always had tracking events show from seller lodging it. Your seller never sent it. Did a runner. Alibaba will refund you though. Eventually.

the seller proposed no refund because they claimed it was still coming....I wouldn't be complaining if I was given a legit tracking number.

EDIT: I refused their proposal of course because the tracking number is still not working so I'm going let Aliexpress decide as I just cannot accept the seller's proposal on principle.

 

It would be different if it was stuck in local customs and was showing, but if they can't provide proof then it's on them.

 

They did not provide any other proof of shipment. I keep stating that the tracking number is fake and they repeatedly state to keep waiting. It's already August 8th here in Australia and there's 2 days left and I am not holding my breath that it will come.

Wizards ltns... Quick question.. I effed up the right GPU on my laptop along with the sli cable. Can i buy ANY GTX 980m from ebay or wherever and install it... The "Awesome" place i bought my laptop from doesnt provide this card anymore because they moved to the newer clevo model "Awesome support"

At least for my P870 and 980 desktop version graphics (Yoo can only use a single 980). Why should it be any different with a single weaker graphics? If that's what you have.
