    ?

The 2560x1440 120hz B173QTN01.x panels were reseller/factory options on P870DM, maybe not on initial release tho. Requires the same upgraded eDP cable as the 4K IPS panel

I'd avoid 01.0 and go for newer revisions btw, lots of people reported banding issues on that one.

1440p doesn't sound too bad if I can get it for a reasonable price.

I think I still have the EDP cable I bought.

Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk

I noticed the 1440p screen option is for the Non-G version. I might grab it and see if it still works even though I don't have g-sync anyway. The boost back to 120Hz might be great again.

Thank you all guys, your answers made me thinks about P870DM-G (980M 8Gb) vs n950kp6 (1060 6Gb)...

the P870DM-G has a bit of upgrade potential which is good. I think I might pull the trigger on a 1440p screen and see if that works but it's a bit of a gamble though.

EDIT: 1440p screen order placed *sucks air through teeth*

yeah of course the MSI 1070 works, otherwise I'd be selling my laptop already.

my screen has been shipped it's just a matter of waiting for it to arrive. I can live with 1440p.

    Hey Guys,
I just received my P870DM-G with the GTX 980 but I have a big problem. It says, that theres no Audio device beside the high Definition Audio from the NVidia GPU. There is no Realtek Audio Adapter in the device Manager. So there is no Sound coming from the speakers.
Does anybody know this Problem oder have a tip concerning this Problem for me?

1440p screen and 4k edp cable if you can find them.

EDIT: I was on the verge of reselling my 4K EDP cable after the last attempt to buy a 4K screen. Besides, there's probably about 1-2 current gen games that I could do in 4K *cough* Forza *cough* comfortably with the GTX 1070 while all other games are 1440p at best.

So I'll stick with this 1440p screen purchase and hopefully it works...cos it should if Eurocom was offering it.

I ordered a 1.2 rev so not the 1.0 rev.

Any non standard panel will disable G-sync.

1440p is a great resolution to game at.

I already have gsync disabled because of the 1070 not being compatible.

Would this affect the later revisions of v1.0 panels that the P870DMG originally supports for gsync?
    E.g. B173QTN01.2, B173ZAN01.1

It could be tied to the GPU and mobo since you need all 3 to recognise and talk to each other. So I have a feeling 1440p panels would work but no gsync and I am ok with no gsync.

Got my P870DM-G yesterday. i hope there will be a bios for an Intel Core i7 7700k. It´s a really good notebook. Good to see this thread and some nice modifications. Mine is equipped with 2 GTX 970M and i think that i will upgrade these 2 cards to 1x GTX 1070.

I haven't been on this forum for a while but I'd though id come on and say what a great laptop this has been. I normally get a new one every 2 years, but this one still has another year in it I think. I got the 980msli and it still able to run all games at max or near max resolution.

Did prema ever end up releasing his bios? Last I saw someone screwed him over and I think he was talking about not releasing it after that.

Edit: I have a big problem... i wanted to use a egpu system. I connect my new HP Accelerator EGPU System but nothing happens. I heared that my Thunderbolt Controller Firmware was to old, so i updated this via premas firmware update. After updating the firmware the system does the same. Nothing happens. Can you help me ? Is the P870DM-G not usable for egpus ?

Looks like the PM981 (EVO) stacks up well against the 960 Pro even surpassing it in random I/O-read/writes.
