Premevo P870 mmmmmmmm premium evolution
-
Are there any more information about dimensions of the case of the P870DM beyond these ones:
428(W) x 308(D) x 45(H) mm
From the look of it, that notebook has a strange shape. Im curious

I have one in front of me, which figures do you need?TomJGX, moviemarketing, steberg and 2 others like this.

Is it possible to share specs of the unit you have?) Run some tests, you know..
-
Thx for answering my question, this was fast!
Im interested in the width and height of the front and back:
I saw in other pics, that the notebook has a strange conical shape if you look at it from the bottom. If you look from the top, it doesnt. Prema has a good photo in the other forum (dunno if im allowed to use it here)
Edit: Oh wait, i actually found a similar pic from XMG
-
Who me, I just have a latop in one hand and a a micrometer in the other
Of course! We published photos last week, I have it for testing now so I will post up what I get done. Seeing as we have already done NVMe and other stuff, main focus is on GPU (GTX 980 here we come) and overall performance. I'll try and get it online before the weekend!TomJGX, moviemarketing, steberg and 6 others like this. -
From desk to top of the front lip is 43mm high, from desk to the back part where the hinge meets the speaker grill is 48.5mm high.
It is a pretty regular rectangular shape, just tapers in a little at the rear. That photo from techinferno and the XMG U726 one are just warped because of the perspective of the photo!
P.S. I have a prior engagement tonight, will catch up on any further questions tomorrow and then benchies to follow later. -
You have a hot date? Niiicee...TomJGX, ssj92, CaerCadarn and 2 others like this.

Sup thx for the infos!
So it just differs 5mm in height from front to back. Does the handwrist scratch the frontlip, when you type?Last edited: Sep 30, 2015 -

Ahhh yes, the unfortunate nda... but Im looking for a guess, like this month or next or 2016... I've been wanting to buy a top of the line sager for 8 months now and I can definitely wait but I'm just curious if it's going to be next year or not.... I have bad eris so what I've really been waiting for is a 17.3" screen in 4K... and the other upgrades are great too like the desktop 980 but will that make my notebook a loud lap heater?

Models with the 980 in it are supposed to have improved cooling, compared to their 980m counterparts, to handle the increased demands from the desktop card. Since they aren't released, there really aren't any numbers out there on it. But I would assume it is going to be hotter, just don't know to what amount.
As soon as NDA is up, then I'm sure you'll hear people talking about it. Just stick around here or check your preferred vendor's site.TomJGX and Chansen-Institute like this. -

What I can say is that this Owner's Lounge was started way too early....
However I too am excited about this one!

can you even daisy chain the converters?

why not specifically binned fury x2 in sli? then you can have quad fire on a laptopLast edited: Oct 1, 2015

Didn't know they were making a 18" model, do you have model name or link to rumours?
-
theyre not, wingnut was just expressing a wish
@octiceps: thats why he said "binned"
if youre already a stickler for correct wording, do it right

Pshh. When has an owner's lounge for a clevo flagship system started on NBR less than a month before release? =DMr Najsman, TomJGX, moviemarketing and 2 others like this.

I am aware of 4 "owner"...only wish that would include myself!
@XMG give us some benches already!

To be fair, the P75xDM owners thread was created way to early, it led to so much anticipation that it almost imploded! The P870DM owners thread was started around the time that Nvidia press released the GTX 980 and they used a Clevo chassis, so yes it's well before the actual sale date but it was already in the public domain
Maybe they should be only be converted into the "Owners" lounge when the products actually start shipping..

Mythlogic's site obviously
Its surprisingly cheap.. I was expecting to pay an arm and a leg.. Only going to cost an arm
@mythlogic Any chance you can give a timeline on when they will start shipping?
Someone needs to come up with a really cool Phoenix logo/wrap for this laptop.. I am useless as a designer
-
-
Hahaha.. I was so excited I immediately scrolled down to the GPU section without even reading anything else
EDIT : I figure I should get a second opinon here.. I mostly need this as a demo platform for VR.. My current laptop is 8265-s which has Optimus
So is the desktop GTX 980 going to be enough or should I be going all out and get 980m SLI? Its definitely above the min specs.

980m sli, or wait for an sli 980 mobile version as suggested by Prema (not the 200w beast, but should be more powerful than 980m).
-
I am having the same problem deciding as you. But after checking and reading on benchmarks and OC performance. I am more inclined to get the 980, the 980m sli is about an extra £250.
More importantly when games do not scale well with sli, having slightly above single card performance would put me off 980m sli vs. 980 OC. I feel like 980 OC is plenty for 1080p and can handle 1440p. I think I also read somewhere that VR does not scale well with SLI, which is another incentive to possibly opt for a powerhouse single card setup and also get a better deal in the process.Last edited: Oct 1, 2015 -
From what I understand the 980 sli version is only coming in the MSI Titan for now. It does look tempting but I am sure it is going to be far more expensive than a 980m sli.
That's what I had thought before as well but there's several new features in the nvidia drivers for supporting VR. The most important one being that each card will render to a separate screen. That could bring serious performance benefits I think because a 980m will easily keep up at half resolution. -
If that is confirmed then perhaps it would be worth it. However for me I do not think I will be into VR this gen. So for me the conundrum is for strictly single display gaming, most likely at 1080p.
My current set up with 680m sli last me until now, some games like witcher 3 cannot be maxed anymore, although it is still close to max. I figured it was time for me to upgrade, I want a system that can stay with me for at least 3-4 years once again maxing games at 1080p. So the question is 980 vs 980m sli vs waiting for pascal.jaybee83 likes this. -
Sweet!! Any word on QFHD/4K.displays for the Phobos yet?
-
I already have a DK2 which was working pretty well with the 780m until the latest SDK killed it
Totally worth it in my opinion. And well.. gives me an excuse to upgrade as well
@mythlogic Just to confirm, from what I have read the 980 desktop may or may not be possible to upgrade depending on what nvidia releases, but the 980m sli will be the usual mxm and can be upgraded?
Also, what does the Power Converter box do in this option - Additional AC Adapter (330W) and Power Converter Box Required for CPU+GPU Overclocking? Do I need it if I have no intention to overclock at all for a 980m SLI + 6700k? I will probably add in both M.2 drives and at-least one hard drive.Last edited: Oct 1, 2015 -
it gives u the ability to run two 330W psus in parallel, thus giving you 660W total power for overclocking your system
running everything at stock you should be fine though:
2x100W 980M SLI + 91W 6700K + ~40W rest of system = 331W
and thats only if you run applications that MAX OUT every single component in your machine, which pretty much happens....like never
edit: corrected my arithmetics

haha, thx! was writing it while doing some data analysis here, so my head wasnt really in the game
-
Looks like the P870DM is using the same 15" keyboard.
-
Anyone knows if there will be a single gt980m option with a SLI upgrade possibility?
-
thatll likely depend on the shop ure buying from, if they include that option in their configurator. otherwise, theres always asking nicely

u mean they only have the lvds instead of the edp?

They offer the ips screen. Don't know if that is the edp or lvds though...

Hey, Myth, any word if P775Dm is released during the same time frame?
