How are you liking the setup? Games load good?

Anyone know if you can make the backlit front cover randomize like the backlit keyboard? Also soundblaster doesn't work on my PC anyone else having this issue?

you don't usually find SanDisk SSDs on any reseller's site, they usually have Samsung, OCZ, etc. -
He's correct, I got mine elsewhere, scan.co.UK for a ridiculous low black Friday price, £150 I think it was, for a ssd of that size!
-
Rest in piece for me then, I really went overboard with the budget
I'll see maybe to add a 256GB one
-
I do something similar 480gb 2280 SSD x 2 in Raid 0 (1tb all games) / 500 gb 850 evo all OS and what every I need / 2tb HDD for overflow , backups, video & photo editing.
4tb portable external for full backups and anything else.Mr. Spock, marios50, Johnksss and 1 other person like this. -
Same, but a more budget version: one 128 gb SSD for OS (didn't bother about exact model tbh, a few seconds difference to load OS is not a big deal) and a 500 gb (EVO 850) for games plus a 1 TB HDD for storage. I like to have my OS and data separated, also after testing games on HDD I added the EVO 850 (initially had only 128 SSD+ 1TB HDD). IMO, SSD for OS and games is a must, the difference is really significant. For example, in open-world games HDD causes small stutters when it loads textures for a new area, with SSD load times are so low that it's unnoticeable. You can go with 250-500 GB SSD for games if you are limited in your budget - still worth it.

Yes, absolutely... you know it. I'm just about fed up with Windows 10 and it's extremely crappy physics performance. It's a crime how bad it is, and it got even worse with TH2. I'm probably going to just wipe it out this weekend and set it up with W7/8 dual boot. I cannot put up with much more of what a sucky OS Windows 10 is. I finally ditched it on the Panther as well. I got sick of seeing my 4930K at 4.5GHz perform like a 3920XM at 4.5GHz... just ridiculous. The folks in Redmond that are responsible for what a piece of crap it has turned out to be need to get fired for their inexcusable display of incompetence.
Sorry for the rant, but this kind of stuff really chaps my butt.Last edited: Jan 14, 2016Ashtrix, Papusan, CaerCadarn and 3 others like this. -
@Kpaxx where have you been for the last year...that's my ooooold v1 Mod...well looks like going retro still gets the job done.
That's a very good result especially for using 1.13v...

First run with Prema vBIOS, +135/+350 (unfortunately, don't have stock BIOS results to compare).
Any ideas why it lists my cards like that? Bad card ID? -

That was my exact thought but I did not know if that would be too much around here.

So what is your backpack for this massive beast everyone? I need somethings that sturdy and can also carry a lot of textbooks/notebooks/etc in the same backpack. Preferably with a different section for them.
-
Purble Place (included with Windows 7) has several children's games bundled in it, and one of them is Comfy Cakes. I know this because my grandkids (kindergarten and second grade) like playing Purble Place.
Good question. Having been an Alienware guy until recently, I always enjoyed the Orion and Vindicator backpacks. I am going to guess something like the Everki Titan backpack would be one of the best options. -
Ei guys any news about sli 980 and release date of prema bios?

That is an awesome looking bag. I added it to my wishlist once i get my Phoenix.Mr. Fox likes this.

When I get a Phoenix that is most likely what I will get as well. A lot of Alienware owners with 18" monster laptops have them and like them a lot.

I looked in the rain forest and found nothing but good reviews. 311 of them. They have a good reputation. I have never used a backpack. I have always been the wheeled leather case kind of guy. I was thinking of going with a shoulder bag. I think this may have changed my mind.
-
Ergonomically, nothing beats a backpack. Until recently, I spent the past ~10 years traveling about 60 to 70% for my career. Wheeled cases and shoulder bags will take their toll on you because of the horrible body mechanics. I also have a bad back and ended up having surgery. Both before and after the surgery, I found the pain much less using a backpack. It kept me walking with a straight spine, which was a huge plus. Of course, I was still dragging a suitcase most of the time, but normally just from the terminal to the car, but the backpack was with me all day.
Those were some good times. Lots of insane overclocked benching on hotel room AC units... got some of my best scores like that. The units under the windows are perfect for that. An ironing board can be adjusted to precisely the right height to set the main chassis on top of it with the intake vent placed directly over the outlet grille on the AC unit. I really miss that, but I absolutely do not miss airports and airplanes. That part of the deal was both unproductive in terms of time loss and miserable. I swear the airlines must have secret profiles that help them identify the biggest guys flying so they can be sure they all end up crammed into the same row. " Ah, Mr. Fox just logged in... hurry, block all the good seats and make them look taken before he finds a good one." The TSA-friendly feature on the Alienware Orion backpack was a real Godsend. It sucked that the Vindicator does not have that feature, so it stayed home collecting dust in the closet. -
I am certain that the airlines have a malicious goal of cramming above average people into seats meant for small children. Every time I fly the seats seem to be getting smaller. I have used a shoulder bag for a while but it is getting old. Unfortunately the business world frowns upon backpacks. I am thinking of snubbing my nose at them.
I have this visual of you hunched over an ironing board with ear muffs, gloves and a parka so that you can sit there and overclock.
It is really scary how we can be so enthusiastic, doing things we would never imagine so that we can post that score. Male egos....

I haven't heard of any date on a potential 980 SLI version, as of yet. You might be able to reach out to Prema about that, unless someone else maybe knows on a date for it. -
Hunched yes, but parka, no. I am a polar bear and love cold. Everyone at work says my hotel rooms are as cold as a meat locker. I turn it as cold as it will go and leave that way until I leave. There are getting to be more and more executives toting backpacks. I think a lot of them are getting older and figuring out it's better to feel good than to look good, regardless of what Fernando has to say about it, so they are saying screw the leather case and messenger bags. My boss is ready for retirement and even he uses a backpack.
Me neither... No word yet on when that might be available for purchase. I know it's tough to wait when you don't know if or when something is going to happen. I really hate that, too. -
Of course, gotta have the lowest ambient temps to overclock more.
I'll add a vote to the Everki. Even toting around like 20lbs, it feels like (almost) nothing, which is saying a lot cause I'm a small person. It's well-made and comes with a lifetime warranty, and the exterior doesn't scream "steal me, I'm expensive!"
For what it's worth, nobody bats an eye when I wear it into the office, but I work in the tech industry so YMMV. -
-
I use the Everki with mine and it's the best backpack I have owned yet. Worth every penny.

Ill give them a nice review. Bought 3 PC's from them and had no problems. You can change your mind mid build (which I did 3 times) and its easy to do. You get a decent warranty (think it was 3 years parts and 1 year parts and labour) and can pay a small amount to upgrade to better warranty (3 years parts and labour). They give you updates of your build as it goes along, (picking, building, testing, QC and postage) You also get DHL deliver so a 1 hour time slot. I got a standard build which took 7 days but it was the run up to christmas but you can pay for faster build if you want it faster (5 days and 3 days). I got a 3 day build for my last Clevo and got it in time). For over £400 I would have thought it would be a no-brainer? You could get your warranty, do a fast build and still have £300 to do whatever. Personally I would go for an SSD rather than a HDD. I haven't used HDD for anything other than backup for a good 5-6 years now.
Doesn't matter where you buy from for it to count as an company expense. I bought mine through the company and got the 20%+ off. As long as you have a receipt.Last edited: Jan 15, 2016marios50 likes this. -

so from which reseller did you end up ordering your P870DM-G?marios50 likes this. -
99% going with MySN, just have to finalise some details with the company bank account or might end up using a credit card, need to work that out.
Didn't you order yours from Eurocom? -
I got mine at PCS as well - nice price, but with disadvantages. First - their build time is comparatively long (took 3 weeks from payment to unpacking, though it was in a busy period, usually lower), you can order fast build, but it'll cost more. Then their first level support is not too good - response time is low, a few hours, but for couple of technical questions I had to repeat it as the person didn't understand what I asked and gave some standard answer. Nevertheless, I consider it as a little inconvenience. Build quality is good, I got two GPUs with identical ASIC (don't know if they did it on purpose, but still a nice thing), and the paste job they've done for my laptop is very proper (paste amount and spread, still changed though, got used to repaste right away, but was surprised).
Overall they are very competitive with other resellers. -

I got robbed here in Dubai by 2 Russians. They are my previous P870DM-G. HIDevolution is being very helpful. They are cancelling the 3 year warranty on the stolen laptop and will transfer it to the new laptop that I will buy from them saving me 600 USDtemp1147462323, USMC578, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -
