I use the prema bios to setup my min and max vars then I perform all my alterations with each overclock profile in TS. This tool is simply amazing and can save you a ton of time when testing out multiple clocks and voltages.
-
Love the work That Eurocom is doing with this EUROCOM Sky X9E,Really stepping up and carrying the baton where Clevo felt short.Making this amazing machine truly worthy of enthusiastic status.I guess we have @Mr. Fox @Prema and this community for bringing it all together, seems like the craziness is just getting started. It's all beginning to feel like what we'e doing currently is the simulation before the actual run.
-
Prema mod lets you setup max/min voltages??? Nice!
-
it lets you set min or default clocks and voltage and then a max overclock multiplier but not a max voltage as it steps out automatically. It does allow you to offset voltage at any level also without affect CPU cache voltages.
-
I see. So the min/default clock is used to prevent too high overclock leading to refusal to boot from bios. So TS is much better than xtu in terms of overclocking?

Without a doubt YES , TS is much better then XTU. A few reasons why regarding the SKY X9
1. With XTU once you install you can not uninstall otherwise it messes with the EC and fan control on the SKYx9 so be aware. If you install it leave it installed just don't use it. If you uninstall it you must reinstall to get your fan control back. I recommend not installing at all.
2. With XTU if your system crashes you loose all your settings, if you have profiles they do not work right. You have to uninstall and reinstall XTU otherwise you end up with compound values and misleading information if you aren't careful.
3. With XTU it locks your CPU and CPU Cache values/voltages and makes it more difficult to achieve stable high overclocks.
Because of these limits this tool is not longer useful to me because it will just cause issues, you can use it to monitor thats fine but I do not make changes in XTU with the SKY X9 of any kind.
Use ThrottleStop, its a great tool and it will do everything and more than XTU. Its safer and your settings will hold, its is an all in one tool of wonder once you learn how to use it. -
How to safely remove xtu? Reinstalling the os?
-
At this point that would be the only way I know, I haven't diagnosed all files and registry changes involved with the XTU install to see what is shared between the XTU and HotKey software causing the conflict.hmscott likes this.

When I installed XTU, my fans would always run at max blast no matter if I changed the fan profile to automatic or not. Uninstalling XTU didn't help. I had to reinstall the OS to fix it. Never installing XTU again! I'd rather run stock than use XTU -
I don't feel like reinstalling my OS, though I also don't have the fan issue yet...
Now for some issues with wireless adapters. I haven't yet updated to the new Killer WIreless Suite, but the changelog I saw stated less connection drops on Skylake based systems. I assume this is also when the chip is under stress/load? I had random disconnects when downloading files for prolonged period of time, but no issues on general use or gaming. Is this still an issue after the update?
The Intel 8260 AC however has consistent ping spiking that makes me puke every time I use it, but has better download stability (ironically). If anyone can get this fixed (I have done various fixes to keep maximum power already), do send me a PM if possible.hmscott likes this. -

Hi everyone,
First and foremost, let me say I just signed up in the Forum, and I've spent the last week reading all the 345 pages until here.
It is clear this is an awesome forum, and even before I had the chance to talk with you guys, after reading everything I feel already sympathetic with many here =) .
My system is an Eurocom Sky X9 with:
-6700k
-2x GTX980m SLI
-a single 128Gb Samsung PRO 951 NVME SSD for OS and I have a 250Gb Samsung 850 Pro here at home waiting for it for game intalls.
-For content the 7200 1Tb HDD Hitachi Travelstar.
-Also waiting for it at home there is 4x8Gb of 2400mhz Hyper X RAM modules.
- Dual 330W adapters with converter
I'll be using Windows 10 at it, with all the configs and Registry tips I've read from Mr.Fox during those 300+ pages haha.
Regarding that system, I have some doubts:
My "budget didn't allowed for the 275USD option for the Prema Bios (which was the reason I chose Eurocom at the first place, but I only knew that AFTER I asked the price Match from Mythologic which had it included from the beginning). But I'm not very concerned with EXTREME CPU overclocks. Anything ranging from 4.2 to 4.5 will do fine for me. What concerns me is the CPU throttling everyone talks about when utilizing SLI. But Eurocom tolde me, that despite it doesn't comes with Prema Bios installed, it also don't have the Clevo Stock Bios. It actually has what they called a "stable Eurocom Bios" that offers "limited overclocking". I don't remember any of you mentioning something like this, so, do you know anything about it?
If I don't mind loosing warranty (I live in Brazil and there is no Eurocom here anyway) Can I have acess to flash Prema Bios, as My system IS Eurocom?
And about Prema's vBios for the GTX980m Overclocks past +135mhz on core?
Back home I have a Desktop System I made 3 years ago with a 3930k running at 4.7ghz 24/7 without a blink of instability problems, ad two reference GTX780 runing 24/7 each with 1215mhz core and 3300 mhz on memory (1215-1235 @ mv) on air and they never get warmer than 75C.
I know the Sky X9 won't touch the 3930k, but i have hop that it will game better with a good overclock for 24/7 use of the SLI GTX 980m.
Thank you very much, and for all the outstanding information I had the opportunity to read on this forum so far!
Best Regards for everyone!

Hi. Do you actually have your machine already?

Hey!
Oh no!
I'm waiting it to be shipped sometime this week. Then I need to book a flight to Miami to fetch it and come back to Brazil =P -
So, keyboard still not fixed, didnt get gpu vbios, CPU drop down to 2.4ghz in cinebench, and Throttlestop is apparently not supported. Lovely.
Edit: Dropped down to 2.4ghz in wprime as well....
Reinstalling windows....Last edited: Jan 25, 2016 -
you might aswell send it back to eurocom, reinstalling won't do anything
-
I am thinking the throttling is probably a bios issue. I will go in there and poke around a bit later. The window I need reinstall.
As for sending it back, I really dont want to do that at this point. I dont have anymore time in regards to that.
CPU Issue fixed. Prema sBios is awesome and have so MUCH amazing options. It is worth it for sure! Although some weird issue with UEFI boot happened.
@GTVEVO, TS is saying its incompatible.Last edited: Jan 25, 2016 -
I was going to say if it was not built yet I would suggest a change to a 250GB drive for the OS, but if it's already been paid and such... never mind.

Question for this thread. I know this is basically a double post, but I wanted no quote replies in this post. PM me if you must.
What is this I'm hearing about $275 for the Prema sBIOS and vBIOS for Eurocom? Is it not the default BIOS, or a free-to-request feature, like it is with Mythlogic? I have not read through every post and I won't bother trying, but I seem to remember a while ago Prema stating he had no knowledge of his BIOS/vBIOS requiring extra payment to Eurocom and that he wasn't making anything extra off of it. I like to know EXACTLY what I recommend to people, especially those not currently using NBR.temp1147462323 and TomJGX like this. -
@Prema said that the BIOS shouldn't cost extra.. However seems Eurocom haven't got the message from him or are just ignoring it still..Not surprised by this behaviour from Eurocom..

This should be interesting....because @Prema is saying the right thing. Since he does not own the bios being altered. That could bring up quite a few laws into question....Speculation of course....
-
So I was right. Prema DID say that his mods should not cost extra, and I remember him speaking to Eurocom on behalf of at least one NBR member to get the BIOS/vBIOS updates done for free (though the machine required sending in).
So what's really going on here? Is it free only if Prema says something? Is it free only if a user is a confirmed NBR member, similar to how you (used to?) get $$ off mythlogic orders if you are an active T|I elite member (I can't find this on T|I anymore)? If so, then fine. But they aren't stating this, and it doesn't help if I recommend a machine for someone ELSE via Reddit or any other forum, as the price I'm working out in my head that might be competitive ends up being a rather expensive standard model that you might as well honestly buy from Sager if you're going to do that.
And if that's not the case, then what is the case? First I heard someone claim it was $200 for the Prema mods. Now someone called $275 and hasn't gotten his/her machine yet, but is sad that paying for the mods wasn't an option? What's the real situation here? Do half their techs and/or sales reps not know what they're doing? Are the mods by request only? Shouldn't the mods be standard as a selling point for choosing Eurocom and a stock BIOS/EC/vBIOS be by special request (for whoever knows what reason)? I cannot figure out the logic here. I'm all for recommending a company that has shown a desire to be all for the enthusiasts, as we honestly don't have any of those in the laptop world while MSI and EVGA churn out Lightning and K1ngp1n editions of midranged and top end cards generation after generation, but the company needs to be in good shape with their orders. Whatever their policies are, they must be consistent, and accessible to prospective buyers.2bad0 likes this. -

I guess that the extra cost is for the warranty. As Eurocom sees the Prema Bios as an Overclocking feature, they want to warrant the extra taxation the components will get.
Anyway, they would only install the Prema Bios for me if I paid the extra cost. But on Mythologic it was free. I had some problems at Mythologic, and they would take 20 bushiness days to build my system, and on Eurocom it took like 2 days. Then I chose Eurocom only knowing that they would charge extra for the Bios after I have placed the order already (and had my price match on Mythologic)... -
Might have been said before, but can I use TS on stock bios aswell? I mainly use XTU for undervolting the cpu, or just trying to keep it cool at stock speeds.
-
Right I was always told the bios it's self would cost too warranty the product and cover shipping if you had to return for installation. Your machine is there so if I was you I would pitch an offer to get it while they have it and be done.
As for Mythlogic I am seeing examples of their machine current throttle when the GPU gets involved just as the stock clevo bios did. I believe they are working to get it lined out so it's not a show stopper and they do not charge extra plus their price always wins it seems if you don't mind waiting for a timely build.
Regardless both companies want their customers to be happy and support our overclocking needs so what ever you choose just communicate with them your concerns and vaild points to see what you can work out.

Where did your machine come from?
Edit: Seems like your cpu issue was addressed.
I did not try TS on the stock bios and since its locked down I do not know if it would work as I assumed it would since others use it without issue on any machine brand. What CPU Are you using? You are using the latest version from unclewebs throttlestop thread right?

Eurocom with prema sbios. I will check again on version.

they charge extra 200 USd to cover the warranty since they know people who use the Prema BIOS probably want to overclock. So if you were to agree to pay, then your custom Prema BIOS will be covered under warranty even if something bad goes wrong. -
Sebastiao Liparizi Neto Notebook Consultant
As I thought.
But in cases like mine, where my budget didn't allowed for it, and I wouldn't use the warranty anyway living in Brazil, can we have access to the Bios without warranty being the system from Eurocom?god1729, temp1147462323 and hmscott like this. -

you have 2 options, contact Eurocom and tell them you want the BIOS but don't need the warranty since you won't use the BIOS warranty or even system warranty. Tell them the only reason you went with Eurocom is to have that BIOS, it is not fair to charge extra if you don't want the warranty
Second solution would be till Prema releases it for the public. -
I would like to correct my statement here to ensure nothing is taken incorrectly or out of context, the Mythlogic system seems to be running well and its very possible only a certain application or an option inside this application is causing the issue so until more testing can be done nothing should be defined.Mr. Spock, hmscott, Firebat246 and 1 other person like this.

I am going to second this statement. While I am seeing current limit throttling in World of Warcraft... GTVEVO sat with me on the phone and we went through some rigorous testing on firestrike with custom settings everything maxed out to push the gpu and cpu and saw no throttling. We then loaded up witcher 3 max settings and again it held a firm clock. I am not sure what is happening in WoW to cause current throttling but I am going to be testing for the rest of the day. Also I will be in touch with Mythlogic to update them on what we are seeing. My temps have been great and we are definitely learning more every minute.
A shout out @GTVEVO for all his time spent with me! This community is absolutely fantastic. More updates to come! -

WoW can be an odd beast in how it applies its load. It does tend to be far more CPU bound than GPU bound.

Turns out the mystery isn't quite solved. I saw the problem come back in FFXIV as well. Same exact situation. So now it's time to tweak some things with Mythlogic to solve the problem. Obviously it's not just one game. MMOs seem to be a good test with how much they can stress the CPU/GPU.
Crazy part is we could not get it to throttle with firestrike no matter what settings it was on. 4k...firestrike extreme. Just didn't get the laptop taxed enough. But once a bunch of people show up on the same screen in game.. Boom current throttle city.
Will update when we find and solve the issue.

I'm not current with this thread, but seeing as CPU throttling is being mentioned in regards to WoW, I thought I'd chip in and add that my machine (which is an older model but still similar), also gets pretty hot during MMOs. In my case it's GW2 and I can get over 90 after prolonged periods in highly populated areas. This is with undervolt at stock frequency. In the winter. So probably gonna see some throttling during the summer heats.
But yeah, MMOs in general are very CPU demanding, which makes them a perfect real world test since they also tax the GPU to a certain extent.hmscott and Firebat246 like this. -
Can you try 3Dm11 also?

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/10860591
CPU multipliers at 45x and gpu oc +130/+50
No current throttling on cpu the entire time. The only time I had a benchmark throttle was combining the FFXIV bench WITH throttle stop 1024 bench. Otherwise it throttles in game with FFXIV and WoW.
-
I think your scores with Oc hardware is similar scores tested of @Mr. Fox but with stock hardware https://biosmods.wordpress.com/2015/10/21/sky-x9/3/
-
The numbers seemed to check out based on what I saw for all the posted scores. I don't think they were too off of Fox's runs of similar OC. I was comparing as did my testing all day.
But come later tonight I will be testing a new bios so fingers crossed.

Hi Guys
I decided to sell all my AW eq and Iam going to buy clevo...
Please tell me which one I should take
Gtx980m sli or gtx980 desktop 200W ?? I need hassle free laptop for gaming... And best performance at this moment. I can get both laptop for nearly same price so money is not a problem.
I've red almost everything here but I still can't choose. I would take gtx980m sli version becouse can get extra gpu and better performance but performance in games is more important for me than benchmarking. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
Let me save you the trouble, I had the Clevo P870DM-G with 980M SLI, I hated it, the laptop throttles more at stock settings due to the extra power needed from both graphics cards, secondly, I could notice microstuttering in games and even in video playback if I am watching a movie. thirdly, SLI support has been bad recently and it seems that game developers are not interested in supporting SLI well.
Finally, now I got a Eurocom Sky X9 with a single 980 (Desktop version) and I am much happier, no microstuttering, games play perfectly at max settings, and I noticed a new feature called DSR where it puts the game at a higher resolution than your native screen's resolution then downscales it, so you get the benefit of the sharper image of a high resolution but on your same native resolution. I didn't notice that feature was available in the 980M
In benchmarks, the 980M SLI get a slightly higher score, but in real world usage, the 980 Desktop serves you better. No hassle!moviemarketing, DreDre, unclewebb and 2 others like this. -
Amen!!!
Thanks I want to play games without hedache...
Xmg u726 will be order soon

Personally I would go with SLI. Not fully up to speed with this throttling issue, but understand there is an XTU config that fixes this written by you Phoenix?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p870dm-g-review.784082/
I did have throttling issues at stock, but reduced the voltage to the CPU and it doesn't throttle now.
Only have 2 problems in 3.5 years of SLI gaming (most recent was Rainbow Six Siege). Both had workarounds in nvinspector. I notice when SLI is not enabled as the FPS drop is noticeable. I hear a lot about people hating on SLI but I love it. I would obviously chose a single card over SLI of they had the same speed, but 980M SLI gives you higher FPS than 980 desktop.
Maybe you will like the current crop of games with a 980 desktop, but in 2 years you may have wished you went for SLI.
You can compare real world speeds at the bottom of this page. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-980M-SLI.129389.0.html
Go to the game and expand compare. You will find 980m SLI is 10-30% more FPS that 980 desktop.
Not experienced microstuttering. I didn't even know videos used SLI. Maybe I am too old to notice. -
FYI, the difference stock to stock is about 3000 pts in 3DMark firestrike or about 22% overall score wise. DSR is a feature for any NVIDIA video card setup it just doesn't always show up because their drivers have a mind of their own at times.
As for throttling, the stock vbios on any NVIDIA card has tight power requirement and limit when taxed. As for micro-shuddering I really have never seen it with my SLI setup but a powerful single card will also be less headache as two as always.
Some want raw power and some want absolute single power, I am grateful these are the choices we have to make.
