But 3000 pts makes difference, especially if the price is the same.
I had some problems with AW and gtx980m.

Well, I use an application called SVP, what it does it, it runs with MPC-HC to make your 25 or 29FPS videos play at 60 FPS. The smoothness is unreal, movies come to live and after watching movies with SVP, you would never use anything else.
Now, I setup SVP to use GPU 1 for the video in MPH-HC and use GPU 2 to perform the smoothness / framerate speed increase, that's where I noticed the microstuttering. this is an example where videos can use SLI. -
I could see how that would be a problem. Does SVG not work if you have only one GPU?
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
it does offcourse, but then it is a very GPU hungry app and running on a single 980M is much worse than running on a desktop 980 or 980M SLI (albeit with micro stuttering for the SLI option)
PS: It's not SVG, it's SVP (Smooth Video Project)hmscott likes this. -

SVP is neat but should not persuade you to dismiss SLI completely because of micro stutter. If proper support is there for the game or application SLI simply can't be beat. I've been using sli in every computer or laptop I can since sli has been available. If I'm not mistaken even back to the voodoo 3dfx days. I have personally never had a real big issue with games I play or have played. If there was it was usually fairly easy and quick to fix. Id rather have sli and be able to get a crap ton more performance than not have it and suffer. It's easily turned off if absolutely necessary.

Definitely agreed. Though I been noticing the lackluster effort in SLI/CF support for games now.
Still waiting on an answer for broken keyboard or at least a refund for the first advanced rma keyboard(which eurocom confirmed received) and also unlocked vbios. For now though, I can at least game decently.Last edited: Jan 27, 2016Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I'm using 2 overclocked GTX 780 in SLI for almost 3 years now on my desktop and love it, as most times they feel like overkill for my 1080p TV.
I'm really hoping that the SLI 980m perform close or better. I almost went for the Desktop 980, but when I saw that the SLI 980m could come close to my desktop I choose them in a blink of an eye.
Also, regarding some posts back about WOW performance, all online games have the CPU as the bottleneck as it need to process all the server data it is being sent to you constantly... you can see that easily in screens full os players. Your GPUs aren't even being much used, and you fps isn't that high. Then when you're alone your fps skyrocket. Also, all Blizzard stuff has problems with interface overlay softwares (like all of the ones used to measure fps). On some computers as soon as you turn them on, the launcher crahes, or even worse, it dials GPU clocks down to 2D mode, and you could think that is throttling...hmscott likes this. -
Anybody having issues with 3DMark not recognizing the Graphics Cards? I updated to the newest version v1.5-915 and the newest Systeminfo v4.41.563.0 and suddenly it won't recognize the Cards for validation. It says Generic VGA Cards or something. In the Run Details it lists them correctly but not for validation.....

Don't it recognize only some specific driver releases? Maybe this one isn't recognized. -

well I just checked and in both 361.75 and the one I went back to right now 359.00 it still recognizes my desktop 980 just fine
Could it have anything with your SLI setup? Can you try uninstalling everything and reinstalling again, what I mean by everything is, 3DMark, sysinfo, and the driver via DDU to ensure it gets rid of all registry remnants.Last edited: Jan 27, 2016Sebastiao Liparizi Neto and RFE3 like this. -

Yes! Sometimes (and more often on SLI systems) you need a clean install of GPU drivers for everything work well.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
I always clean install by removing the old driver using DDU regardless if it was SLI or not. This way, I ensure that I have a super clean setup.
90% of the issues I see on this and other forums about people complaining is they were lazy or didn't know about DDU so they just install the new driver over the old one and check the CLEAN INSTALL option thinking it is a clean install, when in reality, it is a really messed up install.Sebastiao Liparizi Neto and Mr. Spock like this. -
That's not really the problem. I have 10 different drivers installed. It's usually user error more times than not.

I am going to be trying out a new bios tonight on my Mythlogic machine. We are trying iron out the CPU throttling. The good news is @GTVEVO has been working with me comparing his Eurocom version.
He has no throttling doing the same testing as me. So essentially it's something between the Prema bios and the modified version of it that Mythlogic uses.
This is going to help Mythlogic get there bios to optimum performance. I am kind of being the guinea pig but I want to help the cause for everyone and myself. Plus I know Mythlogic stand's behind their work and they have been nothing but helpful!

BTW remember when I was logged into your system and I took a snapshot of GPU-Z. I did that just to check my VBIOS on my Desktop 980GTX and mine is the same like yours
0 Throttling though, my Eurocom Sky X9 came preinstalled with the PREMA BIOS and stock VBIOS for the GPU.Firebat246 likes this. -

Oh and 1 difference with my current Sky X9 with the desktop 980 vs the previouos Clevo P870DM-G is that when I installed the Control Center on the Clevo P870DM-G with Dual 980Ms in SLI, there was no GPU overclocking icon in the taskbar, the utility could still be launched manually though from the folder where the control center was installed. With the Sky X9 system though which has the Desktop 980, using the same version of the Control Center (Control Center AP v5.0000.0.35), the GPU overclocking tool is always sitting there in the taskbar

Iam still confused :/ It is so hard to choose if the price is the same... Mr Phoenix what was your out from the box performance ? firestrike for example ?
thanks guys for all your suggestions thats help me a lot... My wife just approved new setup this evening, so I am ready to place an order.

I've posted my results earlier. The same 970m SLI setup as yours, also Generic VGA cards listed.

1) Which reseller are you ordering it from? I got my Eurocom Sky X9 from HIDevolution. Even though they only have the barebone Clevo listed, they can also get you the Eurocom Sky X9 and their global warranty will cover shipping costs back and forth should you ever need to send your system for repair. Their quality control is second to none.
2) I don't overclock here is the out of the box scores with no throttling from the CPU even at stock settings since I didn't go with SLI. single desktop 980 FTW:

I didn't have this problem with my previous Clevo P870DM-G which had Dual 980Ms in SLI. Seems it only affects the GTX 970M? Very strange. -
Now i am also on the fence between the 980M sli, or 980.
If egpu is truly something that will be supported in the future with this clevo model, getting sli or not won't be a big deal to me as i can upgrade its performance down the road. Or if pascal cards will also be supported with this model... Hmm...
Ive been reading as much as possible for about a week before making my purchase, good thing too because originally i was going to get the 15 inch model but decided i wanted more power hehe...
Also, do mythlogic builds have cpu throttling? Are they using a different bios from prema, because as far as i can tell they use the prema mod?Last edited: Jan 28, 2016 -

Gtx980m sli -- pcspecialist
Gtx980 ---mysn
I can see there is les than 2000 pts between gtx980m sli and single gtx980
For untouched system...
Another thing I am courios about is how do I sell this gtx980 if I would like to upgrade this laptop in the future? This isn't mxm standard card.Last edited: Jan 28, 2016 -
What about no throttle & Prema for the US?
-
They will double tax me for laptop from USA
-
With a single thunderbolt 3.1 I don't know how far things can go with the egpu but its new, if there was a system right now that we could use I would purchase one so I am in the same boat and can't wait to see what comes out this year.
Pascal is a ways out and promises have been made so the chances of it being the same MXM support are pretty good as in really good.
To address the Current Throttling the Mythlogic machine reported, keep in mind when the P870dm-g was first released this was one of the major issues identified hindering high performance. Once identified it was addressed and corrected in the Prema EC and Bios firmware. Mythlogic is a Prema partner shop but also their own store and reserve the right to make some of their own tweaks so it does seem there are a few differences between the normal Prema firmware from Eurocom and the Mythlogic firmware. Regardless this circumstance is with an individual throwing an abundant amount of stress on the CPU and GPU at the same time that only two games seem to show. For example to replicate the instance two stressing benchmarks had to be ran at the same time really trying to bring the system down to its knees.
Here is the great thing, all parties involved jumped on this issue straight away to get it replicated and the owner was sent a new firmware already to test......this would never happen with a normal company. In most cases you would wait a week if you are lucky or month to receive an updated firmware to address any issue.
The bottom line here is to say with support like that no one should hesitate to purchase from Mythlogic as they have demonstrated that they are in support of our community and all the efforts going into this system.Last edited: Jan 28, 2016TomJGX, hmscott and Firebat246 like this. -

thanks bro i didn't know what to compare it against since all the people here over clock -
Well I'm leaning more toward Myth due to price. About those 2 games though... I believe they were WoW & FFXIV ARR. This still concerns me though, as FFXIV ARR is one of the games I put most hours in.
-
Thats understandable but if I had to guess I would say that this is a problem on several machines not just the P870dm due to how the windows OS and chipsets try to balance power and how the game uses the components. I would say the issue will be fixed simply because mine doesn't experience it and its the same bios so its just a setting tweak that needs to happen with Mythlogic's version.Last edited: Jan 28, 2016

I couldn't have said this better myself. This a thousand times. I was up until 2am on the phone with Mythlogic. There was absolutely no rush and we did alot of testing. We are still working on it as last night proved to be more testing than a permanent fix. However based on what we saw we think the problem has been identified and I will have more updates to come.
Don't mean to keep you on the edge of your seat but I don't want to say anything conclusive yet.
Bottom line is Mythlogic is going to get it working and that's going to trickle down to everyone else who orders through them. Good news.

Actually just to give an update. This only impacts (it appears) people who have a RAID'ed system, as people who don't and have P870DM-G from us, have the full blown BIOS and don't have this particular issue, so its really only a small subset of our users that we are seeing this issue, but we are committed to getting it fixed of course, but we have lots of customers that don't have this specific problem =)

I've run into another oddity, I wanted to run DDU to do a clean Install of the Nvidia Drivers and the computer won't boot into Safe Mode. It will F8 into the Boot Screen but when I select any of the Safe Mode options it loads the Win7 Welcome Screen and then shuts down. I've used the msconfig panel and checked the Safe Boot option but that only results it in an endless crash and reboot cycle that is extremely difficult to get out of. Anybody else had a similar issue?

Did you use the automatic "go into Safe" mode option by running DDU in normal mode? It should prompt to go into Safe mode for you.

What is the downside of getting a 4K screen but sacrificing G-Sync? Am I better off just getting the 1080 screen with G-Sync?

Anyone have a issue with no sound from the headphone jack? I seem to not tget it to work, realtek or x-fi drivers don't change it. Today I use the logitech 966 headphones with a extern usb soundcard/wireless dongle. but I wouldl ove to use other non wireless aswell.. Where should I start to look for answers?
So far tried to reinstall sound drivers and checked the earphones on other sources!
Nevermind, I had to use "the speakers" but plugg inn the phones... dam I'm stupid =)Last edited: Jan 28, 2016 -

My 2 cents about 4K
How does anyone in his right mind buy a 4K screen laptop? -
I tried that also and it it gets caught in the Boot, Welcome Screen, Crash loop. I used all of the Safe Mode options in the Advanced Boot Options Menu and none worked,,,,,It's almost like Safe Mode isn't there. I could possibly try a Repair Mode and see if that fixes anything.hmscott likes this.

Throttlestop's voltage options doesnt seem like its doing anything. Is there any reason why @GTVEVO?
-
If you are too far out of the scope there will be no affect, what clock speed an voltage are you trying to run?
-
I am running 4.4ghz at 1.25ishv @load. I want to lower it to 1.2v at load. Playing with offset doesnt seem to help with that. I didnt do anything in the bios.
Stock voltage is like 1.2ishv but TS immediately rise to 1.25v. -
Stock runs a voltage of just over 1.2 at 4.4ghz but your VID will register about 1.26 , realize this is the difference between the request and the regulated measurement. A negative offset or a static voltage from 1.2 should take as long as you have the option checked to save voltages immediately in the FIVR menu.
-
Sorry, I was referring to VID measured from TS and HWINFO64. It seems changing offset have no effect on VID.
