    @GTVEVO

Why does my CPU clock drop to 4 GHz on all 4 cores during a Firestrike Benchmark even though ThrottleStop is running? I had no throttling at all in AIDA64 System stability test and wPRIME

Sounds like some sort of power throttling between cpu and gpu possibly. You upgrade your bios recently?

    1.05.03 Prema BIOS.

I am in a cafe though so I only took one power adapter with me. Will try with 2 adapters when I get home

Maybe platform power limit? If 2 adapters dont fix it, try it with power limiting off.

My throttlig during Prime 95 happened due to termal throttle only it seems. And it droped to 4.2ghz. I was not using TS (it is intalled but didn't had it running).

It may be because of the power limits. I imagine that a bad sillicon will draw more power (hence its higher heat). Isn't your power limits afecting it?

I meant it as you turned a bunch of power limit down from the maximum amount. Try it with them at their previous values.

If it didn't throttle with a cpu only test and did once the GPU was involved its going to be more of a system power relation or throttle like we seem before prema fixed it between the Ec/Me and Bios firmware, I don't see two adapters to cure it.

Everyone has kind of went a bit nutty in this thread so I can't really pick out and say where things went south. What I can say is document and start over and test your base and retest to find the issue.

Nope, increasing the power limit / Turbo Power Max didn't help, gonna try when I get hope with Dual Power Adapters and see if that fixes it

I apologize if this comes off wrong, but the thread is starting to lose a little bit from its title. I like the posts from Phoenix regarding getting in his SL CPU,or talk about heat sinks, 4K LCDs, M.2 SSDs, multi-PSUs, etc.

But when it comes to screen shots or settings for XTU, Eurocom/Myth based Prema BIOS, Throttle stop, etc., does anyone else feel it is time to start a "Overclocking the P870DM/Sager NP9870" thread so the information can be found more easily rather than lost in this thread?

If it's just me, I'll gladly shut up.

We have a saying in Syria (where I'm originally from) that says....

"The little stone that doesn't impress you at first sight, can bang you real hard"

I don't mean to bang noone but what I am willing to try :D

I am expecting a virtual cookie from you once I get it and do my new overclocks. Heck I consider it a big accomplishment reaching 4.4 GHz on all cores on one of the worst overclocking CPUs that I have had! :D

Totally understandable and I also agree with you, a single thread dedicated to overclockers, XTU/BIOS settings will 1) make it easier for others to find the info they are looking for and 2) make this thread cleaner as it is now filled with hundreds of posts about settings and overclocking.

    LOL!

Also, it'd be nice if Charles or one of the other mods could move some of the OC posts into there. That way it would be easier way to find once I need it rather than try to remember is was around page 450 or so (out of 937) come 8 months from now.

I'll therefore very much be interested in seeing a "Overclocking thread"

So, anyone have a recommendation for a good backpack for this thing?

(Or even just a carrying folio/bag/case of some sort)

Looking for one that will hold the laptop, the power brick/cable and a mouse, at the very least.

    Thanks.

Look no further than the Everki Titan if you can afford it.

I can vouch for it from personal experience like many other members here as well.

My laptop just arrived (and then I had my awesome wife deliver it too me at work) and my first impressions are HOLY S*IT THIS THING IS MASSIVE) I took great pride in showing it off around the office. Only downside was that they installed Windows on the Raid drive and not the 1TB drive like I wanted them to but no biggie I'll fix that myself.

Oh dont worry , I'm making an Image of the windows installation that it came with and copying that to the drive that is in my old laptop, so It will be exactly the same as it arrived from the shop. Just with my SSD having windows installed not my RAID array!

AS of yet I don't see any light bleed, or dead pixels but I will check in more detail when I get home, just setting it up at the moment (its going to be a long night) as for the packaging again I cant say as I had the wife open it and deliver it too me but it was safely wrapped in plastic and the screen was well protected. I will say though what surprised me is how quiet and cool its running (to the touch) admittedly i've not pushed it yet , but at idle its ridiculously quiet!

Be careful! Or you gonna end like Mulder & Scully from the X Files - in a basement. :D (Just joking).

Yesterday I have ordered P870DM from Hyperbook. Great guys btw.
    The config is:

    QFHD 3840x2160 IPS 8BIT | i7 6700k | 32gb 2400MHz (64gb in future) | Single GTX 980M | Intel Wireless-AC 8260 | Samsung EVO M2.0 250GB + Samsung EVO M2.0 500GB + Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000 1TB | PSU 330W |

//I won't be using this notebook as a gaming laptop but as a workstation, that's why I have ordered QFHD display and single 980M (my programs doesn't support SLI/CF and I would have problems with selling 980 in future). <preventing strange questions>

I'm excited about this little monster. :)

This should have happed a long time ago. Good job @Phoenix. Hope the migration happens fast. Saves a lot of time, specially for newbies. Personally, taking the sheer volume of p870dm overclocking posts and hardware variations, I feel a dedicated overclocking thread complementing each owners lounge would be better rather than a combined one. Better still would be an overclocking subforum under Clevo holding threads dedicated to each set of similar models.

i'm confused. i thought i read in here that its easy to just order a gsync fullhd screen and swap the 4k with it. now i've seen that there is different bios (non gsync and a gsync version and also in bios it says under mainboard: non gsync version. sooo, is there two different mobis or does one have to install the other screen and just flash the other bios?
    cheers guys

Yes only if you initially have a non G-sync card to begin with. A G-sync GPU should work with all Displays with the feature enabled depending on screen comparability, not sure about this though.
