I can imagine them not wanting to give out the customised bios in an easily flashable form for obvious reasons. As always only update the bios if you have a specific need to.

    Bump for the above.
    2) how much is the discount HID offers for NBR members exactly?
    3) which is the best way for me to get in touch with HID and Eurocom. I live on the other side of the planet and am not comfortable with emails(Rather talk/Skype but would mail if it's really recommended).
Also would love to know opinions on p870dm vs p775dm(not 1) & p750dm. Just personal views (I know the specs)

    Here you go:

    http://www.hidevolution.com/contacts/

    Ask them about the discount.

The P870DM can take 2 GPUs in SLI (M verison) or a single 980 GTX (Desktop Class)

Remember, if you opt for an international warranty plan when ordering your machine with HIDevolution, they cover shipping costs both ways should anything go wrong with your system.

    See:

    HIDevolution's Warranty!

Also, for the P870DM, they now offer the Prema BIOS free of charge so that would save you $200 USD in addition to your NBR discount on the total order which you can use for other system upgrade or to simply bring the cost of the machine down. You will also receive the Prema VBIOS for any GPU free of charge ;)

They use very fast shipping with excellent rates BTW. I got my system delivered to Dubai in 24 hours for $170 USD only

Thanks for the link. I've been on the forum and this thread since it began months ago so I already know all about HID from all your posts(I'm pretty sure you would have noticed by now ) so please people be specific in answering my questions. Saying it again "personal opinions between the mentioned models".Inside info on these barebone's internal hardware not shared previously anywhere on this subforum/known tech websites works too

My ordre went to ceg because they where cheep. But not only where they cheep the coustemer support was great. The system only took 7 days. And 3 of them was for waiting for the wire bank transfer to go though. So for now I'm happy with them. Just bad they don't have the prema bios

While looking at http://www.hidevolution.com/hidevol...uilt-to-order-desktop-replacement-laptop.html noticed that in the configurator they talk about the speakers being Onkyo and on the nice illustrated pictures below they talk about Foster.... so.... ummm... is it Foster or Onkyo.
Given the fact that the Onkyo is not on the laptop anymore I tend to believe that we have Foster speakers... am I right or.... wrong?
I am asking just out of curiosity... It's my turn to be curious George now if @Phoenix does not mind :)

u know what i find strange is that clevo use to use compal EC or h/e u spell it, which same with dell alienware means u could use hwinfo fan control on dell/clevo laptops back in the days. now it seems thats all changed and hwinfo is strictly for dell/alienware.

is there software fan control for this or just have to fn+1 like all clevos

So, my beast, er... I mean laptop arrived this week. The Sager NP9870-S is now "in the house!"
    I thought it'd be bigger.

Just kidding. It's huge, but awesomely so.

Pretty stunning what it can do though... To me, it is fully a desktop in laptop form, rather than a "replacement". Nicely done Sager/Clevo.

Although I just mentioned that it is newly "in the house" (or "hizzy" for those of a certain generation), what is all of your favorite case/bag/vehicle for taking this bad boy "out of the house" when you so choose... We're taking a vacation next week and I want to bring it along... Yet I don't want to bring a full sized steamer trunk like in the olden days... ;)

As always - y'all rock, and I appreciate you!

Yes there are fan shortcuts and different profiles selections in the hot key app still.

The Hot Key app takes into consideration only the CPU temp which is a _major_ issue.... So even if, you can indeed set some profiles, some fan levels, you can't really use those profiles while gaming... and because it's mainly a gaming machine I find the app and the profiles useless.

Let me give you an example : I've set the quiet profile and set the fan to start spinning at 60% when the CPU hits 55C... and I start a game... let's say WoW, or GW2...
When I start the game the fans are very low... maybe 10-15%, the machine is extremely quiet... the CPU temp is climbing extremely slow to 50C... the GPU goes 5 times faster towards 80C... thing is... after a while... say... 4-7 minutes the CPU did not reached 48C, instead my GPU is already at 81C... and baaammmm... suddenly both fans burst at 80% because, most likely when the GPU hits high temp numbers the App enters the warning zone and ignores the profile you set and tries to deal with the heat fast. After it cools down some it turnes the fans very low again till the GPU hits 80+C and the... vroooommmm again for a few minutes.

    What I would have liked:
I would have liked the app to be able to monitor both, CPU and GPU temps and spin the fans according to the temps and the profile it's in.. I play old games, old games that do not stress the CPU or the GPU and at times I enjoy some silence while playing some old games... and it's not possbile

Let me put it in another way... I would love to be able to decide if I want my fans at 40% and the GPU temp at 75C and the CPU at 55C instead of an app deciding for me that the fans should be at 70% so that my CPU stays at 44 and my GPU at 51C.... total useless fan noise for some ridiculous/useless low temps.

Had to get it off my chest because I am so disappointed by the fan (noise) management in this laptop when it comes to software. The hardware is great, the noise is very good for the hardware it cools but with some little help it could be so much better.... arrrghhh

Those pictures are not made by HIDevolution, they seem to be standard. Look at the Sager website here: http://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP9870-S.html

    Same thing

    They are Onkyo speakers ;)

I use the profiles while gaming all the time and notice lower temps on both cpu and gpus. I am sure we would like better controls but its not easy to change them as special programming tools are needed to edit the sections involved.

I have ran several tests and I have noticed it to work taking into account all 3 components not just the CPU. I will revisit and ensure thats the fact on my machine.

I just ran GPUz and limited my CPU down to 3.5ghz and kept temps around 45c while tested a single GPU and while the GPU would climb to 60c only the single GPU fan increased in speed. The CPU temp and fan was not taken into consideration and never moved while CPU temps stayed static just as my tested did in the past. All 3 components are independent for each fan in my case, my slave GPU side ramps up faster than my primary card all the time depending upon the game.

    in this link it says:

2 Built-in 2W Foster Speakers and a Subwoofer, tuned by SoundBlaster

I am surprised, so even Sager is saying they are Foster speakers.

All I know is that with the Soundblaster processing they sound amazing, I think they might even meet or beat the GT72

I am not saying that it is easy but I've had 3 laptops so far with the same app Clevo P650SE, P751 and P870 and it never worked as I would have liked... and it's been 2 years now... I would have hoped that they fixed it or developed it further...

    To give you more info:
    1. I set the app to the Quiet profile
    2. Fan speed : Custom
    fan start temp : 55
    fan stop temp : 45
    full fan speed : 55
    2. Power conservation : Balanced

With these settings when I play WoW for instance the fans, all 3 run at extremely low speed, I'd say around 10-20% until the GPU hits 80-84C then the fan go instantly at 80% (very loud) a few minutes till the temp drop then the latop is ultra silent again for a few minutes... I would have liked the fans to run constantly at 55% like I;ve set them when the temp hits 55C (CPU or GPU, who gets to 55C first). The CPU never gets to 55... maybe it gets to 50 but extremely slow even if it is known that wow is pretty CPU heavy.

It might be a issue at my end, can't say for sure, but so far I've never seen this app working as I would have imagined that it should.

If you do ran some tests please keep me in the loop
    Thank you !

I turned off everything except bass in SB. Then I used the EQ to make the speakers sound better.

The compression from Crystallizer and Surround was killing sound quality, sounds much better now. :)

Usually not, the EC needs to have the relevant hooks in the firmware.

    The first 4K GTX980M-G end-user, yes! :)
@Mr. Fox has been testing it with the 200W 980-G

@ ALL 4K AUO user, this still requires you having g-sync GPUs...but yes it has finally been licensed and is ready to roll. :)

Yep. I'm definitely a witness thanks to Prema! :D So long as you have G-Sync GPUs (I bought the 4K panel and EDP cable afterward and upgraded to it myself).

BTW, I noticed you added the new RAM to your sig! How is it? Would you mind sharing your timings and bios settings if you've had a chance to overclock to 3000MHz? Whenever you have the chance, anyway.

I noticed you overclocked your RAM to 2800 MHz. When I do get my RAM, do I simply need the XMP profile to custom then choose profile 7 or what?

Or does it run at the rated speed automatically?

So far I'm still a bit of a noob at setting RAM timings but for the overclock I did it's really simple. I go to the bios and leave the memory ratio at 133, I then set the dial below it to auto. The default being 10 (i.e. 10x133). I set RCLK to auto, and another option to auto which I don't quite remember but it's towards the bottom. I'll update with an image of my bios settings in a few moments. Sorry if I'm not much help. I still don't know how to use XMP and when I load up the intel overclocking utility I don't see an option for XMP. I have taiphoon burner as well but don't really know how to load anything from it yet. XD

    UPDATE:

    Here it is: 2016-03-12 05.21.40.jpg

Everything else reverted to default because of being set on auto but notice the QCLK is set on enabled which allows it to overclock to 2800MHz automatically upon reboot.

Do you know if there was a hardware chip already installed or is that not required anymore ?

If I'm not mistaken I think mobile g-sync only requires the GPU having the chip. Only desktop monitors require the module built in for it.

There is no magic "chip" it's all firmware & driver...

@Phoenix I updated my prior post just in case you haven't seen it yet. Also added a screen from HWiNFO64 to show the RAM running at higher than rated speed. (1400MHz Dual channel)

Well, really it's all part of the eDP standard, the drivers/firmware are just properly allowing the use of the feature.

I thought all you needed to do is set the XMP profile to custom then change the memory ratio to 10.

Also, why are you running your CPU at a reduced clock speed of 4GHz brah?

Still messing around for optimal settings before overclocking the CPU again. To be honest I tried your 4.4 GHz method from the overclocking thread but my temps were really high and I kept experiencing freezes when the offset was at 115 - ( eventually got it stable with lower and lower offsets). When messing around with RAM timings I got a few non-boots so I had to reset CMOS on several occasions, lol, so I lost my settings. XD Just haven't gotten back around to re-applying the CPU overclock because I want to get the RAM to work at a higher frequency first since that's what's giving me the most trouble at the moment. Once I do that I'll more than likely overclock the CPU again. :)

So i tested the Killer 1535 and the Intel 8260 side by side on 2 Different P870DM-G's, and the Intel seems to be working way better and faster. It could just be the Merlini's firmware on my router though, so dont read too much into this, just what i observed. I have the ASUS RT66U
