Hm. Looks like the Gelid GC-Extreme didn't last long. I'm gonna do another repaste, and if it wears off in only two weeks again, I'll probably switch to Grizzly or something else.

Its my understanding the issue exists in the latest firmware more so than any others. They can find it pretty easy if they load up the
10503 bios and 10506 ec and run the firestrike combined test.

Guys, i am a little bit embarrassed to ask this question but i have to ask, how do you take off back panel. I wanted to have a look at the heat sink, but i cannot figure out how to remove the back panel. Is there any trick to it?
PS> I am no stranger to opening laptops, but this one beats me.

How are you getting so high graphics score with 1 VGA? I own a P775DM3-G with the same VGA, however with the same GPU clock my scores are around 21700. Did you do some tweaking?

Pull all 9 screws, then pull the bottom cover starting with the front.

yeah, no other trick. It's scary at first, because its stuck pretty good, at least on my last gen p870, but a good tug, once all 9 screws are off, is all you need.

Sorry for the late reply...altering a BIOS would violate the copyright...we do not do that. At the same time, we do not get the BIOS from our friendly competitor Sager.

Those are stock graphics scores. These scores were the first part of a two part review of the P870DM3 (stock versus tuning) but I never got to the second part because I returning the machine. I told XoticPC the single GPU performance of this machine, out of box, was impressive but I didn't pay for a single GPU, I paid for SLI. Whoever ends up with this particular computer is going to have a beastly out of box machine that's limited. I could only imagine this machine coupled with Prema's magic...

So I've been away for a bit I apologize. From what I'm reading about Prema bios and vbios is that if I didn't order this option from a reseller I am basically out of luck?

Basically, you are. That's one of the reasons why I'm returning my current DM3, so I can get it from a Prema Partner. I guess you can try contacting Prema at his website with a nice donation but he's a busy man and his partners/resellers will come first. Your best bet if you can still return your machine, is to get one from an official Prema Partner.

Mine doesn't appear to do this (so far as I can tell). Running Firestrike gets up to 90W and my combined seems normal at 7400 - http://www.3dmark.com/fs/10631674. Let me know if I can provide any other info that would help you troubleshoot. My machine came from LPC-Digital, so really from Sager then.

That new Blade Pro has me laughing whenever my employees talk about it. One of my employees, Jeff, is actually going to buy one and I can't help but wonder if he really understands what he is buying. My entire crew saw both computers I have (P870DM-G and P870DM3) and most of them scoffed at the sizes. Is slim that important for a gaming machine?

For the record, I do use a Mac Pro for work and so does the majority of my staff (an odd XPS 13 here and there).

DO NOT upgrade your Bios/EC to the current version from Clevo, otherwise, you will suffer from what I and @GTVEVO are suffering from...throttling.

Findings are...The new ones are in fact messed up. Some of them are missing FN+D command. This is why you can not reset the nvram unless you pull the battery.
How many can in fact use that command?

Well, i got a copy of the version of my bios on my machine (Given to me from Sager). It's two files. The bios and the first EC. The one that controls the power an fans. And FN+D works. The second EC is for keyboard lights and some other things that are not detrimental to the operation of the laptop. And of course it is Sager branded.

Has anyone tried 1.05.03 BIOS, 1.05.06 EC? They are available on the XMG support website for their XMG U727, which is the same as the P870DM2/3 right?

    Hello dear brothers,

Has any experience with the Nvida Insepctor 1.9.7.7?

I am particularly interested in certain functionalities.
    Undervolting and fan settings.
Does this work well with the tool?

    Hello all,

after reading the last posts i decided to give it a try.

so i just made an account and wanted to say thank you to @XMG for providing a good bios on their website, using Sager p870dm3 here.
I just flashed it, and overclock sticks, even on linux, no need to use extreme tuning tool anymore nor bios mod at least for me.
Ram ocing is unaffected, running at 2800mhz, ratio 100 and multi 14 :)
I also see intel speed shift pointless on these machines. and rarely ever for it to happen that windows mbr/bootloader is set on another drive, dont find myself disabling drives at all, tho it just looks fancy that it is there with prema. :D

    Thank you again.

P.s: logo looks cooler than Sager :D

edit to add: to undervolt in bios, set value over 1800, eg: 1801 = -1mv, mine is set at 1830 which means -30mv...

ha, u basically touched upon the only two functionalities that are NOT given, even with a Prema Bios :D overvolt, overclock, underclock, thermal limit, all that is possible. but not changing fan behaviour or undervolting ^^
