interesting, this P870X seems to be the kaby lake refresh of the DM2/3. it sports three(!) instead of two pcie m.2 connectors, otherwise everything else seems to be identical...

no surprise its so expensive! 6TB 960 pro and 4TB 850 pro *lol* without storage it would be like 8k cheaper at least :D

They don't want anyone to actually buy it as it's not SOP to sell a pre-production sample.
Just advertisement and breaking more than just one NDA right there...

Could anyone comment on the 3K 120Hz screen on the 870DM3 Clevo??

Is it high quality and does it show the lines? (visible on AW17 and Aorus X7)

    Thanks for help!

It works fine for me. It also works for 980M on my P750ZM. The memory OC is limited to a pathetic +300, so that part sucks. It needs to go up to at least as high as NVIDIA Inspector does to be useful. Being able to watch the GPU temps on your phone or tablet screen is a nice feature though.

The the Flexiaccess app that I really want to work and cannot seem to figure out why it does not is this one:

    https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/Thread-HwReceiver-HwTransmitter-Android-App?pid=12732#pid12732

I want to be able to use my Android phone or Kindle Fire tablet with HWiNFO sensors instead of OSD. But, I cannot get it to work.

@Phoenix - why don't you try this app and see if you can get it working. It looks awesome, but I cannot get my phone to talk to my PC using this app even though Flexiaccess works coorectly.

Nah, brah, Clevo did not do that to us. We do it to ourselves by wanting the best. I remember when people that bought the M17xR3 and M18xR1 got all bent out of shape when the M17xR4 and M18xR2 were released. That's just how it goes. Remember, tomorrow never comes. If you're waiting to pounce on the best you will be waiting forever, literally. There is only today and today's best. Blink twice and today's best is obsolete. That's just how it goes.

The nice thing is most of the time new tech isn't actually compelling enough for anyone to get too terribly excited about it. The jump to Pascal was worth it, and will be more so once @Prema sorts out the vBIOS cancer problems to stop it from behaving like an NVIDIA product normally behaves (meaning totally spastic).

I thought about waiting for the next gen and decided not to. I had the cash, the price was right, no debt incurred... might not have the cash if I waited until Kaby Lake. That's much better than rolling the dice on an unknown. As I grow older and wiser I find my appetite for risk has largely evaporated and I'm done with early adoption. That used to be exciting when I was younger, but now I try to limit my exposure to getting screwed by jumping on shiny objects that turn out to be trash. I prefer to observe others spend their money first and see what happens before I open my wallet.

Speaking of Prema BIOS, when will the P870DM3 be final? I find 0 problems with it. I think it's best if we get it out sooner than later as there are many awaiting to have it who bought from a Prema partner

It's working great for me, too. That's totally between @Prema and his partner shops. With me being on a need to know basis and not needing to know, that's the best answer I can provide.

How about a new over clocked run with timespy @Meaker@Sager ?

Reason being is because I still have not done the mod yet. And from what i'm seeing, it's not yielding enough of an improvement. I want to be wrong here!

There is only one QHD - Gsync 17'' panel currently, they are all the same. They do show some horizontal lines if you are analyzing up close, if you can't live with it just don't get it go with a different 120hz option.

Thank you all so very much for the well wishes and prayers. I really mean that. I may not have been a part of this community for very long but I feel like you guys (and gals) are already family. I don't want to further distract from this thread about the wonderful monster that is the P870DM2/3. I am up here every day and I will continue to do so, helping where and when I can.

One of the ways I was thinking of giving back was creating an interactive manual/OC guide style app for the P870DM1/2/3/etc. While I am putting it on hold, I'll keep you guys updated on my progress when I start working on it again. Of course I want to gain the knowledge and advice of the veterans here (i.e. I will be contacting several people to ask if they want to add their valuable OC's secrets and non-secrets for an AIO app that will be offered for free).

LOL this is hilarious.... I think @Mr. Fox said it well enough.. No point being but hurt about this and anyways is 1 extra M.2 slot and 7700K worth the grief? Don't think so IMO... You have a beast, something which will last easily for 4-5 years... So just enjoy it!

as if @Phoenix would keep a system for that long....

besides, one could just slap in a 7700K into the phoenix 2 and call it a day :) an additional m.2 slots wont do jack, especially with two 960 pro´s in raid already saturating the pcie 3.0 4x bandwidth....

The question is... Will the refreshed P870DM(4) with Kaby lake and new chipset support 3 fully speed pcie M.2 ssd's? I mean pr now is 2 the max with Skylake chipset. And I expect Optane support.

Kaby Lake Z270 chipset adds extra 4 PCI lanes so 3x M.2 slots x4 are possible.

Will the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q 34" 3440x1440 IPS 100Hz G-SYNC monitor run at 100hz with the mini display port? I belive the 2.0 HDMI will only run up to 60hz correct?

Any other recommendations for a gaming monitor?

Yes. If it's like the X34, the 60Hz HDMI limitation is because the display itself is only HDMI 1.4 compliant.

I played tonight with no overlock on the CPU or GPU and actually scored around the same FPS but average 3 higher. Don't think the overclock helped at all in BF1 I'm afraid.

That depends on whether it's feeding everything to the CPU or not, usually on things such as disk to disk transfers it doesn't feed it to the CPU and back it feeds it to the chipset and through to the other drive, and how often are you going to be accessioning more than 1 NVMe drive at full bandwidth at the same time? Personally I'll be happy having yet another drive in my system as I build them for video editing and my clients prefer internal storage whenever possible, so I can now offer up to 14TB (before formatting) in a system

All storage operations pass through the CPU.
