Yes I am currently running with overclock profile and I am satisfied with its cooling to sound ratio. I dont use headphones.
I was just thinking if there is a way to fine tune it further. :)

A friend of mine was going through security at the airport the other day. The new thing TSA is doing now is pretty very firnly on the back of the LCD (checking for obstructions they say) between the screen and the case. Needless to say they cracked his screen pressing on the back so hard. He got a here isnanform fonyou to fill out.

Ya it sure would be nice if you had the ability to set a good fan profile but the "custom" fan speed in the control center does not do much for me at all. Overclock or max fans is about it.

Maybe they have better overclocking performance though. Seems like it in the overclocking tab with the statement he made of all 30 processors tested were able to make it to 5GHz

If they ever pay for the bill that is. They have got me a few times on cheap electronic items in my bag that just mysteriously came up missing, so I carry them all with me now, even if they are cheap. Useless to even talk to them about it if items ever come up missing in your luggage. Just a waste of time. Not to mention if they ever destroy your bag it is useless talking to them as well in my experience. I guess that is more the airline carrier though.

From what I've heard the TSA is even less accountable than the carriers. Whenever I fly, anything remotely expensive flies with me in carry-on if possible.

I ended up just stacking a 1mm and 0.5mm for the 1.5mm pad instead of buying 1.5mm pads as they are expensive unless you can just get a small strip.

Anyone able to get P870dm2 working with an external gpu ? The intel thunderbolt firmware indicates external gpu are not supported. This is one reason I got this.
It could also be bios, anyone have a clue ?

    It will work.
But a 1080 will perform like an OCd 1070. Because of TB3 to PCIe conversion overhead.

Question on the screens: Am planning to order the DM3 with the 3K screen. If i end up not liking the 3k screen, how easy is it to replace with a 4K AUO screen ? Will there be any g-sync issues ?

@afloyd Have you been tracking FPS in BF 1 at all and if you have what is the best clock you have found for FPS. Anything over 4.2 does not seem to have much gain for me. Here is the best average I have gotten so far at 4.2 with +100 MHz GPU.

Wait to see if it's covered or what it costs to fix.
That was partially my reasoning for taking a hit and selling my DM1. I only bought mine just before you. Mind you if Clevo shift the goal posts again because of Nvidia or for any other reason I'm out for good.

I've been playing, but haven't been keeping track of the FPS... But from a quick look it seems your stats are probably better (and great temps BTW).

I usually play with 45x multipliers, which would result in more GPU/CPU throttling by the EC. I imagine that if you lowered your clocks even further to x40 with higher undervolt it would probably get better FPS.

The stock EC firmware has some form of "combined limit" of power draw between the CPU & GPU, and the game would do better with more GPU power I'd think. So I'd bump up the GPU core/memory & take down the CPU to get best FPS

Actually running at lower clocks with a higher undervolt is about 10 FPS lower for me (Even at lower clocks and a higher GPU overclock). Anything higher than 4.2 and +100 GPU is lower FPS. Was just looking for the sweet spot in that specific game.

Ah ok, good to know! Yea I guess it would take some close monitoring of the CPU usage and seeing how low you can get the core multiplier where you can keep all cores from under/close to 100% with the best undervolt. Seems like you are at a pretty good place though with average ~115 FPS, almost equal with the monitor refresh which would be perfect. Is that with G-Sync enabled?

Yes with G-Sync enabled, running at highest settings in the game. This was with my external 144hz 3K monitor though not the laptop monitor.

I use Intel XTU, and you can set a "static" voltage for the core with 0mV offset... But yea it will still fluctuate, generally it seems whenever I set mine to 1.270V static it'll still hit nearly 1.4V at times. But generally under "heavy" load the max voltage it will hit will be "relative" to your static setting, so if you move the static up so will the max attained voltage move up. They just won't be the exactly the same number, I think mine is nearly 0.1V above what I set my static to.

Honestly though for gaming it's probably better to use adaptive voltage offset I would think so that when it's not hitting the CPU hard it'll downvolt more automatically and save more power for the GPU... But that's just a guess

Using an external probably helps slightly... I've noticed that when benching using an external monitor helps slightly with scores, might be due to the same power restrictions within the stock EC. Not having to power the internal screen leaving more power for the CPU/GPU

Just received my P870DM2, I'm so happy, feel like a kid on Christmas morning, first off it is a beauty, the quality is superb, pics really don't do it justice, I will need some help setting her up, if anyone here is willing to walk me through what i need to do, looking around quickly and couldn't find CCC to proceed with the undervolt, maybe this is a good thing, and I should use throttlestop or something, not sure I can change keyboard backlights without CCC though, can someone tell me which version I need and where to find it? thanks guys . ^^

So um, I am back after 10 years (not that anyone remembers or cares). I have been in the market for a laptop especially since mine was stolen early this year. Not wanting to bore anyone with details but I had it coming.....

Moving on... I have been looking into buying a beast of a machine. Razer has been releasing some awesome looking windows computers with "decent" performance and when the razer blade pro came out I admit, I nearly....NEARLY pulled the trigger. Spent a lot of idle time looking over the internet for new looking pascal monstors and P870DM comes up on top 9 - 10 out of 10 times. It got me wondering if being mobile in today's world with fast pascal laptops in thin form factor is the future! But I swore to myself since 2010, I will get a Clevo if it kills me!!!!

Fast forward to today and I want it! Now more than ever. I have spent a good couple of weeks reading this thread and wanted to know whether or not I can get the following:

    P870DM3

    6700K (delidded)
    Single 1080 (WITH VAPOR CHAMBER)
Custom fans to replace the ADDA ones (done by the re seller of course)

To the best of my knowledge the Clevo P870DM3 can be shipped to (Saudi Arabia)
with these modification can be sent by HIDevolution.

I read a thread on customer reviews on these models and every proud to know that customer service is not dead.
Can I get an AMEN or confirmation on what you guys think thus far.

    First of all, welcome back.

Regarding your question, if you are in the market for a desktop replacement you should definately get a P870DM2/3. And there is no reason not to get one from a prema partner unless of course you have specific issue due to which you cant get one from them. Personally I would recommend HID evolution as I got mine from them and I couldn't be happier with how they treated my order.

I dont think any re seller will give you option to replace the the fans. I dont even know if there are compatible replaceable fans that are quieter. The replacements done by a user here is more of a ghetto mod that will work if you want to go that route.
In my personal opinion, i feel the whole issue with fan noise has been blown out of proportions (I am not saying the users who find it problematic are wrong, but i feel its just a small fraction of users that will find it deal breaker).

As PrimeTimeAction said I think you are better off buying from a reseller that has the Prema bios and offers a delid option. If I had it to do all over again I would have gone with HID after being on the forums and doing research. I'm still praying I can talk Prema into letting me purchase the Prema bios after it launches (probably wont happen but who knows). I haven't heard much about replacing the fans inside the laptop, could you point me towards that conversation please as that sounds interesting.

I don't know anything for certain, but if I had to guess I'd wager Prema's exclusivity agreement with resellers ends when the next model comes out, so I doubt you'll be stuck with the stock BIOS forever.

Its not about the agreement alone, its about Prema's confidence to have faith in the people again after "that" incident.
He has every right to be pissed. It sucks to be in a position where all your hard work is stolen like that.

I totally get that, I'm just going by how Prema offered the personal Maxwell laptop BIOSes in his laptop donation thread, even after that ugly incident.

Yes, we can do all but for the fan mod...and properly set up with the Prema BIOS you won't need it anyway. See the review by @Phoenix - http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/evoc-p870dm3-review-by-phoenix.798685/

Then, once you get it, reach out to @Phoenix by making a post in that thread, and he will help you set it up properly for maximum performance. You can see the temps he is getting in his review.

Prema BIOS release for the EVOC P870DM3...wait for it...sooner than you may think :)
