u probably cant tell between 100fps or 120fps unless a number is showing so whats the point. i'd imagine if u try to run multiple display at once at much higher resolution say for example external desktop display but then you're not using the 120hz of laptop display anymore.

i'd get two 1080 and run on 6 display then its worth it.hmscott likes this.

Nah, you'll need to build a desktop to support that many monitors.
Feeding the builtin display at 120hz will get you faster response, a quicker and more timely view, and less eye strain.
Make it an OLED for me

It is likely part of the vapor chamber, meaning some heat, if higher on those heat pipes, will transfer to the other places to cool. With that said, if the sli 1080 with furmark does really push 85 degrees like the screenshots say...

thats the thing, they had a nice 200w heatsink for a single 980 but with two 1080 sli they have to go vaper and then share heat towards the cpu side, yet cpu side doesnt really go anywhere kinda sad.
-
Yeah, but a single 980 took two fin arrays. Two sli 1080s take the two, a little extra to cpu, and a vapor chamber, meaning they have got it to over 300W dissipation for a little more than what the 200W used to need with smaller fans...

Would be interesting to see what modded hsf will do if combined with good cooling padajc9988 likes this. -

This! I'm trying but failing to understand.

(*sigh* double post)

You dont want to mess with vapor chambers......... You cant "fix" them.
As for OCing, if there is no custom vbios, dont despair. There is a way of semi hardmoding the power limit, at least on desktop. It involves some "creative" application of CLU.... I am sure @Prema will work magic though.... -
means the cpu runs hotter, damn it son.
same for heatpipes concept are similar. if theres leak then its all ruined. -
means 120hz dont win in competitive gaming lol
-
every csgo tournament uses 120hz monitors. you must be missing a chromosome

Check the Ask a reseller thread pinned at the top. I asked the same question last night.

I agree, but 120hz isn't reserved for competitive gaming. I still don't see what you're getting at.luciela likes this.

@XMG where art though? No information about new Pascal powered rigs in your homepage? Is there an official information you can share on your side regarding availability? Computex?
-
-
sure doesn't win games for them though lol. if all players have 120hz someone has to win, i think u missed my point.

So still a while until 4K 120hz G-sync then
. Can we at least expect Kaby Lake/Z270?

No

We are here and I've been posting as much advice as I can without breaking NDA!
The NDA is still in force and the launch hasn't happened yet, so until then no one is allowed to promote, market or sell anything mobile Pascal related.
Regarding availability, well we're always first in Europe and that'll be the same this launch as well -

"Slipped" nah man not slipped, sneaky they are

When you actually make a point, then we'll discuss who missed it or got it... right now you're the only one who even understands HALF of what you're talking about. I don't even think you understand 100% of what you're talking about.

Well technically Clevo themselves already announced them, without breaking NVIDIA and Intel NDA, after MSI and other ODMs also put their models up:

Some re-seller just followed suit and a few 'accidentally' skipped over the 'NVIDIA details missing' part...
Wondering how they get 180 minutes battery from the P870DM2/3 while only 150 minutes from the P7 models with only slightly larger battery...Last edited: Aug 12, 2016 -

@Eurocom, will you guys be first in launching in canada? will instantly order one when you release, thanks!

Sorry in advance for wasting your bandwidth as I continually refresh your website next week.

LOL, how much CSGO/UT/Quake/Overwatch have you played bud?hmscott likes this.

Have you tried a 60 hz and a 144Hz monitor side by side?
Another thing is that do you even know how much of a skill difference is there between a high skill casual player and an actual Pro CSGO player?Last edited: Aug 12, 2016 -

they sure dont seem much difference to me eh

After reading this thread, I am sold on the P870DM3. I am only stuck on two questions: Is 1080 sli worth it (can the laptop handle that much heat load?), and should I go with 4K or FHD 120 Hz?
Some background. My desktop currently has a 6850k, and a single 1080 (+300 MHz clock) and a 4K g-sync 27" screen. I have loved using it so far (never tried a >60 Hz screen before), but that computer is mostly for my family since I travel for work 9-10 mo/yr. (Work as a merchant sailor.) I am getting really tired of my 770M in my ASUS G750JX (I know... BGA trash, but I was in college and didn't know any better).
I really appreciate anyone who could help me out.

I'd say just buy 1x 1080 and the giant vapor chamber heatsink. Buy one more 1080 and the sli cable from your reseller down the road if you think performance isn't enough.

Subjective but moron answer anyways...

I'm also curious on this as I can barely get 1-2 hours max on my P870DM with single 980.

I'm starting to think a desktop is the most cost effective for my next build. $1200-$1500, about, to upgrade my ZM to a 1070 (1070+heatsink+eDP socket and solder equipment+new monitor) since LVDS is no longer supported. $3500-4000 for Zen 8-core, 1080 sli, ram, and water cooling in an amazing case (caaelabs). Meanwhile, this machine costs the same or more fully loaded with less CPU power, most likely, and limited by heat as a possibility for sli OC. I love the power and mobility, but am chapped about the EOL on the ZM and the hoops to upgrade when they damn well knew all early 770zm only offered LVDS! ****ing planned obsolescence!

Its not an opinion if its an uneducated guess.

Revision: These benchmarks don't look great for ZEN! Albeit, it is an ES, so things are not final and optimizations are not in place yet, as well as it curiously having about the same frame rate with little variance between low and max settings on FPS.

Whats the cost going to be like ?
-
$200-300 USD, approximately...
Meanwhile, I'm wondering if there was something else in the system bottle necking it, but there isn't anything known on system specs, etc. Just rough info and equipment similarly situated, but without full controls. But it makes me question it if that is near the final speeds or no bottleneck actually exists...

That is pretty amazing!
I mean if its even able to match 70% of the 5960X, $200-$300? Heck yeah!CaerCadarn and ajc9988 like this.
