That would depend on a lot of things. 15"? 17"? Where do you live? What kind of screen are you looking for? I highly recommend you open a new thread in the "What notebook should I buy" section and fill out the form with all of the details. This isn't the place for it.

Cheaper is NOT better, you get what you pay for. You wanna get it from a Prema Partner to get the Prema BIOS otherwise I personally wouldn't touch any Clevo laptop without the Prema BIOS

    Benefits of Prema BIOS:

    • Restores user ability to overclock or underclock the CPU
    • Restores user control over CPU power settings (voltage, watts, amps) for optimal performance and/or thermal efficiency
    • Restores ability to control non-turbo CPU core ratio
    • Restores ability to control CPU c-states and p-states
    • Restores ability to control BCLK (northbridge) and FCLK (System Agent) frequency
    • Restores ability to enable Intel Speed Shift Technology functionality
    • Restores ability to disable Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) functionality which is intended for software developers who want to use that feature and causes erratic system behavior
    • Restores ability to control RSR, Watchdog Timer, ASPM, ACPI sleep and hibernation functionality
    • Restores ability to control RAM timings, clock speeds and enables the utilization of XMP profiles
    • Restores ability to control selection of Legacy, UEFI and CSM to install whatever operating system is desired
    • Restores ability to control CPU-based DEP, AES (encryption) and Virtualization
    • Restores ability to control GPU scaling, PCIe speed and power management features
    • Restores control over Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 configuration
    • Restores control over SATA port configuration and Intel LPM. Having the ability to disable drive ports allows exclusive control over what drive receives the BCD/boot sector, system and recovery partitions during Windows Setup and eliminates the need to physically remove non-OS drives when installing a new OS.

I recommend HIDevolution because they have delidded CPUs so the temps would be lower by 10-20C and they have awesome build quality and testing to ensure you get a laptop that works great out of the box. See:

    @Phoenix

I'll really have to go through that feature list one day and update it for you.
I am really slacking to push myself doing these 'boring' things. :(

It has become an industry trend for the past 3-4 years to give user the impression that they can set massive overclocks while in many cases even default frequencies aren't maintained longer than a few seconds under actual load.
So I think for many user the most important feature is that they can use the premamod to have no enforced performance reduction left other than when the system really needs to cool down, rather than droping clocks for no good reason.

+ Vapor Chamber GPU & CPU Heat Sink Set says on hidevolution.com
What are the differences from other cooling systems?
I use programs like ANSYS, my computer has to stay open for a long time. This cooling system is advantageous?

Does anyone have an 8700k processor, with vapor chambers?
How many degrees of CPU when the processor is under 100% load?

The cooling for the CPU is no longer linked in the newer models so the CPU temperatures should not be different.

Yes, that is correct. The CPU has its own heatsink. However temperatures will depend on whether you get your Intel® Core™ i7-8700K delidded and undervolted. You will see on our Customizer that we offer this service, along with overclocking if you would like us to do that as well.

    Hello,
I have already emailed you before :)
I am using programs that require many cores like ANSYS (Engineering analys program).
My computer should remain open for a long time under 100% load. it is very good for me to have a desktop processor on a laptop, but processor overheating problem worried me. Do you have tests to see CPU temperature under 100% load?

    Thank you.

Using our best Thermal Materials upgrade, with the HIDevolution delidded, undervolted -50mV (you can undervolt more for even better temps) and overclocked Intel® Core™ i7-8700K to 4.8GHz, our max temps vary slightly depending on the chip, but are right around 69 Celsius. If we just delid , but do not overclock, and undervolt more you could see temps that are substantially cooler. If you don't want us to overclock, and undervolt as much as possible while maintaining solid stability, just ask for that in the special requests text box as you checkout.

So my friend's P870DM2 (NP9872) is having a weird issue. It will randomly start beeping while under use (Power light will start flashing orange) and after a minute or so it turns off.

Any ideas? I tried looking up on Sager's website if it is still under warranty but the serial number keeps giving an error. EDIT: Wow the warranty service must be down earlier, warranty shows properly now until 08/2018. Will try and contact sager

It's an EC panic, one of the values it is reading (or not) is out of range. Check the fans.

In addition to what @Meaker@Sager mentioned, it could have a dead GPU. Remember when 980M cards started randomly dying in the P870DM-G. I know it happened to me and you, and a few others. Is it the same kind of beep or something different?

Edit: never mind. I just watched the video and it seems to be totally different. You actually have display output and we did not with the other issue.

If you manage to get 3d output ok for some time still then it's less likely to be a dead GPU but it would be worth re-seating the heatsinks and fan connectors.

Okay so the fans aren't spinning. None of them. If I do maximum fan mode they all work but normal and overclock they aren't spinning.

How does one reset EC on stock sager bios?

What is the difference between P870DM3 and P870KM1?
The only difference being the chipset, on paper. Z170 and Z270
Does it affect performance? I read that there is no difference if a skylake processor is used. Some new technologies are coming in the kabyleke processors with the z270.

Nope. No difference in performance. Nothing but a gimmick to give Intel something new to sell. Z270 has Optane, which isn't anything to be excited about. (Kind of a flop for Intel, LOL.) I am unable to identify anything that is actually better about Z270.

Technically, the DM3 is a better machine than the KM1. Better cooling system and @Prema had fewer firmware throttle cancer issues to patch with the DM3. The stock KM1 system BIOS was a real abortion. Clevo kind of wimped out on the vapor chamber with the KM1 and started cutting corners where they actually needed to do better.

If you buy from a Prema Partner Shop and have a DM3 you can run a 7700K in it as good or better than 7700K works with the Z270 chipset in the KM1.

    Newer Z270 chipset,
    Extra PCI-E express lanes,
giving KM1 an extra M.2 SSD slot,
    RAID5 support,
    Optane memory support,
KM1 has TB JHL6540 and DM3 has the older TB DSL6540 controller,

Some KM1's have the DM3 heat sink kits which have:
    1x GPU heat pipe missing,
There is gaps on the heat sink fins where the fan air exits.

In performance wise though is still the same lol: like what Mr Fox said:

I am asking this question, I am talking to a friend for your old machine :)
in fact I use programs that require multiple cores. the computer needs to be under 100% load for a long time. I could not decide between 7700k and 8700k (Is it worth the price difference?)

So, you must have meant the TM1 with Z370 chipset. Yes, there is a massive improvement going from 7700K to 8700K. I have lost interest in 7700K now because of it.

Just an update to a post I made here a few months ago. Sager has finally emailed me with a TPM firmware update for the mass TPM vulnerability that was identified back in October. If you are looking for it I suggest you reach out to Sager support directly unless it is posted on their site somewhere.

I’ll have to give this a try today.

It's got the bandwidth, ease of use and final speed is going to depend on the adaptor and any daisy chaining on the port.

So another issue that just started. I unplugged my laptop from the power adapter, the battery life says 94%, but after about 5 minutes the fans went full speed, the plug-in light started blinking orange, and then windows did a graceful power down. Not sure what is going on.... Seems to be fine when plugged in. This is also a new battery from Sager that I had replaced in October with no issues so far.

Well so far I've ran it on battery for a while and that hasn't happened again. Not sure what was going on....

    That's the fingerprint sensor.

Can't get it to work on Linux, at all.

Here's how its' detected by TLP: Bus 001 Device 010 ID 06cb:0078 control = on, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Synaptics, Inc. (no driver)

Was it overly cold or hot? Maybe worth checking the mounting is still happy after the drop.

Is anybody having trouble with the RGB lighting? The only colors that seem to be working on the keyboard is yellow, green and red for me.
