    Correct.

As a rule of thumb, the lesser the daisy chaining, the faster the performance you'll get out of the 10-gig adapter.

And Thunderbolt networking actually works with Linux 4.15. See this for more information.

Ok, though I doubt I'll be jumping to Linux any time soon, unless it's to run a server or something.

I'm just looking to add 10gb into my network so I can host an icssi drive to hide my steam library in on a server I'm planning.

Most people I've read about have been direct nic to nic or switch to nic. So I had concerns if running an adapter through thunderbolt would have a big impact on Latency or bandwith.

I ended up ditching most of my 1GB networking and went 10GB networking. Best move I could have done. It was expensive, but well worth it.

I have one of these on the TM1
    https://www.amazon.com/Promise-SanL...d=1515147699&sr=8-14&keywords=10gb+networking
One of these in the benching station
    https://www.amazon.com/X550-T2-Conv...d=1515147779&sr=1-11&keywords=10gb+networking
I have this for everything else. 16GB ram and 6700K upgrade

    This 10GB switch
    https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-ProS...&qid=1515148264&sr=1-1&keywords=XS708T-100NES

And one of these for my macbook pro
    https://www.amazon.com/Thunder2-10G...515148460&sr=1-1&keywords=AKiTiO+Thunder2+10G

And one of these for switching from thunderbolt 3 to 2
    https://www.amazon.com/Certified-Ca...ywords=thunderbolt+3+to+thunderbolt+2+adapter

Read and write speeds of the 4 Seagate drives is about 600 MB Max and the raid 0 SSD is 1.13 GB

Moving files from any of the machines can range from 100 MB to 1100 MB or a burst of 3600 MB on big files.

Unlikely to be a software fault then and will be a hardware issue with those two lines.

This has probably been asked before, but I cant seem to find it. What size are the thick pads on the GPU and CPU heatsinks? I wanted to replace them as well while i am in the machine as they look like they could really use it but all i can find is stuff that says just original pad. Thanks in advanced. also do they still make the bitspower IHS for the 6700K? I cant find anywhere I can buy one they are all sold out.

Something around 3mm I think but a ruler should let you know. They don't normally need replacing.

I’ve had this problem for a few months (already sent a note to Sager support) but there appears to be a black/gray splotch on my screen. It isn’t a scratch in the panel and it doesn’t look like dead pixels. Any thoughts? [IMG]

Usually it's an issue with the lower layers of panel and it would need a swap out to fix.

Just ordered a barebones P870DM3 for $1500 shipped with a single GTX1080. Should arrive today and I can't wait to get my hands on it. While it's the old Z170 model I think it was a steal at that price. Any tips or things I should know about it? Also where can I order a 4k or 1440p replacement lcd? Thanks!

It's the base with no CPU, RAM, or storage but I already have an i5 7600k and 16gb ddr4 2400 (sodimm of course). It has the FHD screen and GTX 1080. I ordered it from Eluktronics and right now they are also giving everyone who orders through Amazon Pay a $100 gift card. Also going to be loading in a 512gb NVME ssd and 2tb of spin storage.

So the FHD 60hz screen uses a different connector so you will need a cable too to upgrade to beyond that.

I have the same barebones unit and it already has the Kabylake bios/EC so you're good to go with the 7600K. I have the 6700K and temps never go above 77C CPU/82 GPU w/Gelid Extreme.

Stock clocks on both, -125 voltage on CPU. Fans are near silent on automatic and haven't used overclock profile yet.

Does anyone know if there is a newer stock vbios than 2016?

I guess it depends on the task. My 7600k with Kryonaut paste hits 93 celcius when playing PUBG. Non cpu hungry games have been fine though.

Just seen the DIY version of this go on sale at Eluktronics for $1500 but it doesn't identify the refresh rate or much else about the display. http://www.eluktronics.com/P870DM3-G-BYO Link is here. I've been debating on a DR laptop and with that price, that's hard to beat if it isn't some cheap 1080p 60hz panel. I've already got a delidded 6700k in my desktop I could slap in it.

This is the exact one I have. It is a 1080p 60hz panel unfortunately. It's not expensive to upgrade though. I've seen the 1440p and 4k panels from 90-150 on ebay.

You are best off getting a barebone chassis due to the parts list required.

So this is an odd request. I travel with my NP9873, and the display had developed a black spot in one small section. When I sent it into support they said it was due to too much pressure on the back of the LCD. I'm not sure if this was due to the heavy gear in my laptop bag and pushing in on it. Support has fixed my display, but I have two questions.

    1) What can I put in between the screen and keyboard to keep it from scratching the screen. Do you recommend any products?
    2) Is there anything like a hard case for this laptop (or a company that I can commission to make it) that I could slip into my huge laptop bag so I can carry this without fear of it getting damaged? The damage wasn't severe, but I'd like to take this thing around again.

Anyone running an external 4K monitor causing excessive fan noise?

Unless I drop the external to 24hz, the master GPU keeps its clocks above 1100mhz and "idle" power consumption at 40W, which keeps the GPUs "idling" at low 50s and the fans on a constant and audible noise.

I purchased a p870dm3-g/NP9873-S from Xotic PC a while back. I also read around the forums that XoticPC recently are Prema Partners. I was wondering if I should go to XoticPC or to Sager for a BIOS update to allow for kabylake?
