Those certifications are not cheap and they are not exactly high volume parts so it's not too surprising.

Lost my old account so here goes.
The battery on my 870DM3 is almost certainly dying (never charges beyond 95%) and I need to get a new one. I have a relative in the US who can accept deliveries but not for very long. Is it possible to buy just the battery as a spare part and get it shipped (relative is in upstate New York). -
Check the BIOS setting for Flexicharger
-
I didn't realize that it was that expensive. That sucks because I'm always working on small power grids abroad that can be damaged by bad electronics' harmonics/fire risk (it hasn't ever caused any issues and doing small tests hasn't shown any issues, but some bosses are sticklers). Looks like I'm gonna have to have my old power bricks shipped to me.
-
I've never had an issue with Flexicharger until now. Turning it off doesn't change matters. I suspect the battery is at the point where death is weeks or months away so I need to get a spare soon.
-
Have you tried a couple of full charge/discharge cycles? Sometimes monitoring algorithms can forget where "zero" is after a while and throw out strange readings
I had that with my w110er today after not using it for a while, had 4X% left turned around for half a minute, aaaaaaand.... it's gone. -
At one point the battery wouldn't even charge at all after a full discharge. Right now charging is temperamental, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I'd still like advice on where to buy a spare battery from a US-based retailer. I don't have much time to get the order in and get it shipped. -
I think rjtech? Otherwise I’m sure you could call in an order with any U.S. based retailer like HIDEvolution, sager, xotic pc, etc.

For an idea, you could do your own basic analysis on the circuit design (I've not looked at it to that level) but yeah not cheap. -
Thanks for the link. Very interesting to see the cost for those tests.
-
I've just tried the websites mentioned and only Sager has what I think is the right battery model in stock at USD150.
BAT-9873 for NP9873 Smart Li-Ion Battery Pack (8-cell 89wH)
Could someone be kind enough to confirm if I'm looking at the right thing. If so, anyone had any experience with Sager shipping quickly and with items intact to an address in upstate New York? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
We ship many items every day, if you contact sales they can tell you if the item is directly in stock and how long it may take.
-
It looks like the US-based battery order is a non-starter.
The other option I have is a retailer either based in SE Asia or willing to deliver there. The former is preferable because of the delivery costs of shipping.
I don't think I've read about Clevo retailers in SE Asia on this forum though. -
Did you try contacting Rjtech ?
-

Never really seen problems in actual shipping. Part availability would be the only thing that would trip it up. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Availability would have been it usually but IIRC the battery between the NP9873 and NP9877 is the same...
-
Shipping to a US-based address is no longer an option, so all I have is international shipping or a retailer based in SE Asia.
Only Sager's website had a hit when I searched for the battery fitting my model. I have no idea if the different Clevo models share different battery types and would prefer not to run the risk. -

I've seen people use freight-forwarding to make that work, it gets shipped to a US address via UPS or whatever, and then another agency sends it on to you. -
Which jacks up the price considerably. A last-ditch option but I'd prefer to explore cheaper alternatives which can deliver exactly the same product but for less.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a single 870DM3 owner on this forum based in SE Asia. No harm asking since the battery is holding out for now. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
True. Shipping anything to that area is already kind of difficult, was thinking ease over price in that case. -
The Chinese based Hasee GX9 looks to be a Clevo P870 base, so if you can find a retailer for that battery you should be good. You could also go to clevo.com.tw and poke through there, or contact them and ask about local resellers, but that would probably work out best if you can read/speak Mandarin Chinese.

Hello,
How do we disable the SLI GTX 1080 and use the onboard VGA on P870DM3? -
You can't, it's not connected physically
-
Sometimes I have to go out. The charge needs to last a long time. is there no way?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No way what so ever. You can use something like nvidia inspector to lock the GPUs to a minimum power state.

Not really. There are software solutions that will keep the use low, but this is a desktop replacement, you pretty much move it from outlet to outlet.otto_kahn likes this. -
What are those programs?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
NVidia Inspector as Meaker mentioned, MSI Afterburner can be used to limit GPU power as well, or any graphics control software. Also if you're just browsing the web make sure graphics acceleration is turned off if applicable (like in Chrome).otto_kahn likes this. -
Throttlestop, to keep the cpu in as low power state as possible by ensuring speedshift is enabled and using a profile that caps cpu speed.
You should be able to get cpu idle power and each gpu below 10W each. That still means 40-50W at idle which explains why 1-1.5hrs is your expected battery runtime -
Thank you very much.
I wonder, Can I use the MSI Dragon CENTER or like this programs on my Clevo/Sager P870DM3? -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
While Afterburner will work on pretty much anything, I don't think DC will.otto_kahn likes this. -
I just wish they used a MUX switch to fix the battery issue. iGPU only for battery life and dGPU only for performance.
Wishful thinking for the next gen model.

Might be licensing issues related to having the desktop CPU with Optimus but I've not dug too deeply on this. -
The poor equivalent of Dragon Center that Clevo make is called Clevo Control Center, aka. "Hotkey". Fan control, lid/keyboard led fx, and maybe other stuff I've never looked at longer than 2 seconds.
Be careful to only use the CCC version made specifically for the DM3... because for some ungodly reason Clevo don't make it backwards compatible or able to distinguish between models.
Obsidian Tool is great for keeping that and all drivers appropriately updated, there is a limited use NBC key but it's well worth the chump change to contribute to its development. -
so question for everyone , after having EVOC HID update the bios in my P870DM3-G , Dual sli 1080 8gb and i7 6700k delided , i dont think settings are back to way they were when bought , as temps 80-90c on load , and as well when i go into the bios , under gpus the gpu 2 is @ 8x and PEG 3x speed , while GPU 1 is 8x and 1x PEG, so curious to what i should do and any pointers for under volting as i am new to this if anyone could give me a few pointers as to were to go in the bios and how to do a safe ideally setting to drop my temps a little .. @Donald@HIDevolution @bloodhawk @Prema @Mr. Fox

bout same , but temps are a little higher , so was just worried and being careful on the temps .. as i know it is a lot in this machine being dual 1080 and i7 6700k ..
-
Change in ambient temp? Max temp? Both cpu and graphics.Donald@Paladin44 likes this.

my cpu is hitting avg 55c-57c idle and 65c load , gpu 1 & 2 hits around 79-90c depending on the game but avg is around 86c .... so curious , off topic question ... what is the BIG difference in games for a GTX 1070 and a gtx 1080 , as i am thinking of grabing a P755TM1-g i7 8086 with a 1070 , but i am right now doing dual 1080 and sometimes sigle 1080 on mine , would i see major performance hit??>
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
About 30% stock performance difference IIRC between a single 1070 and 1080.
-
Looking to boot this laptop with the lid shut. Looked in BIOS but didn't see a Wake on Lan or USB setting to do this?
-
is 90c and 87c normal temps for dual 1080... with prema bios and from hid @Donald@HIDevolution

That is hard to answer without knowing exactly what model and configuration you have. Please put that information in your signature so that when you ask for help, we will know what you have. -
what do you mean , it is a p870DM3-G Dual 1080 in SLI from HID ENVOLVED , I7 6700k DELIDED , ... @Donald@HIDevolution i sent you a email .

What clocks are you getting during gaming?
-
I m interests by the answer because I have the same configuration. 6700k with 2 1080 sli. I suspect I have thlottireng in the Conan Exile game and my sli... have poor performance compare to single card. So with a single gpu I up to 91° . I don't know if it's normal.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I have seen posts about that title just not scaling well with SLI.
-
I have reduce the frequency of my gpu1 of -30mhz and I get 83° and up the decal of fan of 40%. My game get 30 to 44 fps in 4k. It's not bad I think.
