Can't speak for Sager, but we will offer the SM961 as soon as it comes into reasonable stock end of the month'ish

@Mr. Fox Do you know if eurocom is offering this model with the 120hz screen? b/c I don't see it on their site, or maybe it's just not updated yet.

-
Meaker@Sager, do you know anything P870DM(1) and upgrade to 1080/1070?
-
Just keeping my eye on new stuff, still happy with my p370sm-a with 980m sli. (Secretly hoping being able to upgrade GPUs in the future
)
I started to think that maybe you could start a thread where you could sync your purchases.
Mr. One who wants a single 1080, but the possibility to upgrade later orders a DM3 with 1080sli and monster heatsink.
He then sells another of the cards to Mr. Two, who also secretly, or openly, wishes to upgrade his older DM.
Mr. One gets his deus ex machina cheaper with monster heatsink and the possibility to upgrade to SLI down the road and Mr. Two gets his upgrade cheaper and only has to buy a new heatsink.
Just rambling here
-
I've just priced mine out...same model EVOC P870DM3 and with my config. $4,664.00 US ... This includes the 3 year warranty and 4k Monitor...everything else pretty much bare bones.
I really like the option to remove the logo...goodness gracious it's a monster of a logo and quite horrific in my opinion LOL.
I'm happy for the availability of the 120Hz 1080p display, but I can't believe the 4K is an additional +$290, although it has GSync. The 120Hz 1080p panel would be the upgrade here eh? If it wasn't for my editing work, I'd opt for the 120Hz panel as my first choice.
I'm curious though about the CPU option / Silicon Lottery for +$300. Hmm...Having the option for the guaranteed assurance of the silicon lottery option gives me the hint that the default ones are highly likely not to be very over-clockable? ie...assuming that every chip they receive is being tested so the default chips are the chips that didn't make the cut.
Just having that silicon lottery option sheds light to this possibly being true? It would seem strange that they would test only some and not the others to where some of the default chips are wild cards. ....thoughts?Last edited: Aug 16, 2016hmscott likes this. -

Do you think the DM3 model might do better? New cooling? Was 4.5ghz the top end for stable 6700k operation in the DM?Papusan likes this.
-
Good point. Hmm.. it just makes you think though right?
I highly doubt that they receive a bunk of CPU's and only test some to a certain degree and not all of them. This would mean that the ones being offered as default are also tested chips that didn't make the initial cut, but that doesn't say everything....hmscott likes this. -

After having had owned two diff. P870DM-G laptops with sucky 6700K CPUs that couldn't even hold a 4.2x4 GHz overclock, I will NEVER buy a laptop without a Silicon Lottery CPU if that was an option. Take no chances unless you have plenty of time to waste.Georgel, ajc9988, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -
Well noted. Thanks mate...
After all even at +300, that's basically the cost of the 6700K chip by itself...that's one way to look at it.
As for the thermal paste, I'm hoping they can send it with generic paste as I would like to paste it myself...hmm...Last edited: Aug 16, 2016Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
I don't know. But shared cooling with the graphics isn't an advantage

To put it into perspective...
I've priced out both the D2 and D3 to my specs. Pretty much bare bone w/ 4K panel, 2 Year Panel warranty, 3 Year Warranty and default CPU option.
The difference is $1,280 for the extra 1080 GPU.
$4,664 - $3,384
I'm torn between the two right now...also I have to see if they can send it with generic paste...has anyone requested this before and were they okay with it? -
I SWEAR TO THE GODS OF XENFORO AND FORUMS IN GENERAL PLEASE EVISCERATE THE DOUBLE POSTING. Thank you.

I'd do it if I were you, yes. Canada has naturally higher prices but they're pretty much ok considering the tax and canadian dollar strength.
-
That sounds about right, it has the same cost (in mxm) as the 980N when it was first released and that is without heatsink.iunlock likes this.

Depending on your country, buy without the cpu and buy the cpu directly from silicon lottery! The cost you save on both the upgrade and having no cpu is like $500. That means get the silicon lottery 4.8ghz delided at $420+50(delid)!!!

I'll desolder the 6820HK and solder in a Intel Atom and replace the RAM with a single 4GB stick with a 120GB spinner. Sold as is...
I'll then frame the 6820HK on my trophy shelf as it is indeed a golden chip for what it is. I'll give it that. -
That's a poor SLI review, it's a shame they published it.
Here is an *excellent* review of SLI 1080:
Clearly SLI 1080 is awesome, when the game scales with SLI

Ah I as thinking the same...just wasn't sure if I should voice that here to avoid possibly disrespecting any vendors
But it's obviously no secret.
That's why my configurations are bare bone...hmscott likes this. -
HIDEvolution has a "No CPU" option in the configurator.
Their Silicon Lottery Option needs to be bumped up a bit, since 100% of the SL testing of 6700K passes 4.5ghz, you really want to only offer the 4.8ghz (or 4.9ghz/5.0ghz) 6700k Silicon Lottery Option.
Intel 6700K @ 4.8GHz Boxed Processor
$ 429.99

Intel 6700K @ 4.9GHz Delidded Processor
$ 679.99

Yea I've noticed that and was scratching my head when I saw that the SL offered for the EVOC was only 4.4GHz ...
-
You are 100% sure that you will not wait for the next DellBook?
-
It isn't disrespectful. You are still buying from them! But everyone has different levels of comfort with components. Everyone has different needs on warranties. Everyone has different budgets. This is why HIDevolution offers the silicon lottery chips and to apply CLU liquid metal TIM for you to get cool results. If you have the money to burn or don't feel comfortable with these mods being done yourself but want them for your machine, you can pay for them. So don't worry about it too much...

Help Please... New Member Incoming!!!
I am ordering a P870DM3-G from XMG in the UK today dual 1080s are too tempting
I am not super knowledgable so may I ask:
Who offers the lowest price around the globe, so I can have them price match?
What are the must have options? 4K screen? 6700k? Best SSD? Best Ram?
Thank you guys for the help!!! -

Had watched it a while back. Not a fan of SLI after using 2 x 980's for about a year. Just not worth the hassle for me.electrosoft likes this.

They play it safe, you can obviously go higher but they don't want to push it further and keep having returns and RMAs from people who are inexperienced with overclocking.
Like my Silicon Lottery CPU can do 4.6 GHz just fine, and can reach 4.7 GHz. but not so stable in a laptop. So I choose to run @ 4.5 GHz. 24/7 which is super stable and temps never go beyond 85C under max load -
Unless they come out with a DTR that will blow our minds... who knows... there is a lot of pressure right now since MSI has made their announcement.
No brand loyalty here
I just need portable machine to be able to handle my workflow and allow me to game at max settings at 4K on my external monitor.
I travel on average twice a month so a DTR / Powerful gaming laptop is needed.hmscott, ajc9988 and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Is about 100% sure the bios / Ec becomes max crippled in an AW Machine. + Secure Boot will prevent any mod of firmware!! This is the Dell game!!ajc9988 likes this.

With the freedom of replacing the components..heck even the display...but just choose the display that you want. Everything else is up-gradable at your will and pace...
So just choose the panel that you want.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

are you ordering your next DTR taptop from HIDevolution?
They told me they don't have a Prema BIOS now as the taptop is new but will be getting soon and it will be a free upgrade for EVOC owners -
If they didn't want people to choose it, it wouldn't be an option and you'd have to get it through a sales rep!

Benchmarks with Sli and raid. Yeah. You will be the KING
Spartan@HIDevolution and ajc9988 like this. -
I want the 4K screen but was concerned with the 60hz refresh rate. Is this a major drawback vs 120hz?
Should I raid 0 or is that mostly just for benchmarking?
Thanks -

benchmarking. 0 difference in my usage experience (gaming + watching movies + surfing the web). The only benefit RAID 0 brings is for people who deal with large database files or rendering gigantic videos all day long -
I'm on the order page deciding between the D2 or D3.
I did see this:
"Prema Custom BIOS:
Unlock the Full Potential of your powerhouse laptop with the Prema Custom BIOS - advanced menus and features for overclocking and performance gain.
Latest Updated Version once available - Contact us for details..."
Should hold off eh? -
Thanks. If there SSD that stands above the rest? Best ram option?
Thanks -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
nope, Prema didn't have the chance to make the BIOS yet as he doesn't have this laptop yet. Just order it to be one of the first to have it then they will send you the Prema BIOS/VBIOS and I have a video guide on YouTube on how to flash it:

best RAM is the one you see in my signature which only HIDevolution offer it unless you wanna get it yourself
