My P570WM3 does 4k@60hz over hdmi, why doesn't this do the same over mini display port?
This will do 32bit color/12bpc/rgb.
-
Ah because the adapter / cable you are using isn't active.
For 4k @ 60hz over HDMI you will need to use a mini DP to HDMI Active adapter.
Keep in mind that most conventional adapters that say they support 4k (over mini DP to HDMI), only do 4k @ 30Hz and are not the proper active adapters.
Something like this should work :

Does the P570WM3 do it over HDMI to HDMI or mini DP to HDMI ? -

It seems the excitement about this laptop has gone down! What happened? Is it because of the issue with its upgrade capability or the temperature its having?
Planning on spending a lot of money for this laptop this coming holiday season! Is it wise to skip this one and just buy a mid tier laptop and wait for next year for refresh? Also what about the screen, I've read that 3k or other display resolution will be available. Can someone confirm this. -
4k screen with 60/75Hz refresh available in Europe. USA consumers have 4k with 120Hz options.
The temperatures are uncomfortably high for some people, for others the inability to upgrade to dual 1080 from their own systems is a serious sticking point.
Any refresh for this system will take at least 6 months to a year based on information on other threads. -
Depends on how much you need a it. If you're currently running 9xx series cards then you most likely dont need a upgrade.

Even on desktop you don't have a 4K 120hz screen avaiable... I doubt this will be a reality so soon. Did you mean 1080/1440p 120hz? -
I was under the impression that the users in http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/new-120hz-laptops-displays-gorgeous.795452/ were talking about 4k 120Hz.
I must be mistaken then, sorry for the confusion.
To confirm: the best 4k screen available at present for this model is 4k 60/75 Hz with G-Sync. Correct? -
4K60 is def the AUO B173ZAN01.0, but the 75HZ?
-
No idea about the model number or I could be mistaken (again!) regarding the screen options. I think I read about a 75Hz 4k screen on the Clevo forums for the USA consumers; the AUO screen is what's offered in Europe at present [AUO B173ZAN01.1] (is that G-Sync certified?).Last edited: Aug 29, 2016

The current 4k in the US is only 60hz and will not overclock to 75 but is Gsync.
There are legitimate rumors of a 120hz 4k, 1440p and 1080p Gsync panel awaiting release

Yep, that it's. Damn Amazon got me a long time ago. I always thought this was active. I had bought way back when just to have in case I ever needed one.
Looks like I'm off to the store to get the right one and maybe a Thunderbolt to anything adapter if they have them.
Yes, but will we be able to upgrade to those screens or will we need gpus to be upgraded to gsync gpus? -
I think it was one of the reseller representatives who teased everyone about something to be offered 3-4 weeks from now, so that's probably the source of the screen rumour.
It would be nice if it's true, but word has it the 4k screens now are in huge demand with supply not keeping pace. -
Right for Gsync to work you must have Gsync gpus. I was in disbelief that non Gsync gpus are being used in the dm3 as some reported to my understanding. Another reason I did not purchase right away as I hate to give that option up.
As for the panels there have been several sources confirming they will have them on their upcoming models. For more than one to mention I hope something is delivered but as we all know nothing is guaranteed.

The upgrade capability and the way they seem to have treated customers about upgrading a machine only a year old. My biggest fear personally is the temperature issues.TomJGX, electrosoft, TBoneSan and 1 other person like this. -
I have a feeling the temp issues are a natural evolution of Clevo's hit or miss heatsinks. It's a bit worrying when they're saying 90 degrees is operating temperature though - I'm not buying that. That's way too hot when shut down is only a few more degrees.
Plus there's future upgradability, I'm sure we'd all like to know what their plans are there. I might aswell buy a HOS disposable BGA man-tablet if I can't upgrade.Georgel, Ashtrix, sirana and 1 other person like this. -
There was a quote of a response from Nvidia that they aren't worried about steady 92c temperature for the Pascal GPU, as the top temp is 110C - not sure if that is shutdown temp, or some other value between 92c and 110c, anyone know?Georgel and i_pk_pjers_i like this.
-
My understanding of this... Pascal performs worse, the hotter the card will be. If Pascal is at + 90 degrees in gaming, the card will not render properly/give max performance. Or maybe I have wrong in this? Aka You pay for Max performance, but get less. And the new graphics is advertised with possibility for overclocking. Forget that if the graphics run +90c degrees in use.Last edited: Aug 29, 2016Georgel, i_pk_pjers_i and hmscott like this.

Question: @Meaker@Sager , were you able to boot using XMP1?
-
On the desktops there are power and thermal peak sliders, Pascal normally starts running away and hiding at 82c, but you can raise that thermal limit to 92c, apparently the Pascal Boost Monster will spin around 92c (or 82c at default) keeping the power, temp, and load balanced.
IDK what the 110c limit is if that Boost temp limit is 92c, or how it would reach 110c if the auto-boost keeps it below 92c?Last edited: Aug 29, 2016Georgel, Papusan and i_pk_pjers_i like this. -
Due to the potential issue of heat, I am officially skipping the DM3. However, I am planning on getting the DM1*. When the refresh of this model happens, then I'll strike.
* I am going to get an amazing monster and help out a board member in the process. Hopefully that person doesn't leave the scene.ajc9988, MickyD1234, steberg and 4 others like this. -
DM1?
Also it seems all of the posts regarding high temps have been regarding the DM3.
Could someone please post some temps of the DM2 or the 775? -
The current DM3 has some heating issues it seems. The owners in this thread are posting some rather high temps. A few are trying their best to tame the 1080 beasts and are having some success. Although as a primary DT gamer, I know high temps when I see them.
Clevo posted a DM2 with 1070 SLI on their facebook page and the scores are pretty impressive, however, I still have not seen a DM2 with a 1080 posted.
As for the DM1, I'm referring to the original Clevo P870DM-G aka DM1. -
Hmmmm, I wonder who that person could be
I guess my tingling spidy senses pointing towards a fellow brother that uses an Animal username are right?
On a related note, the P775DM3 seems officially more attractive to me, given that it potentially has better CPU cooling. -
lol...no comment. I was interested in the 775DM3 as well. I originally came on this thread hoping to get a single 1080 DM3 but that isn't happening...sooo
-
Pretty much. These new machines will work just fine in most East and West US states, but wont be able to sustain proper cooling in any place that averages 90F+Rage Set likes this.
-
hahahaha. I guess I should have gotten a DM3 then. In CT, our average temp during the winter is 20 degrees and with me being a big buff dude, I never raise the temp in my house above 60 degrees. My girlfriend hates staying at my house during the winter.

I would tried something similar as these copper foils (in 76 × 38 mm and 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm thickness)who is in the package from CoolLaboratory's Liquid MetalPad - Notebook. Together with Liquid Ultra. A little pricey perhaps but maybe worth a try on gpu's http://www.coollaboratory.com/product/coollaboratory-liquid-metalpad-notebook/
And of course Liquid Ultra on processor.i_pk_pjers_i likes this. -
Those are really crap at best. In order to be fully effective they need really high mounting pressure.i_pk_pjers_i and Papusan like this.
-
I was thinking more on filling the gap. And Use Liquid Ultra with 0.1 mm or 0.2 mm copper foils. Liquid ultra becomes too thin to fill the gap. Have not tried it, but why not make an effort? Have you seen results from what I talking about?
-
Already tried it. Doesn't work properly. The melting point of the pads is way too high. So that results in the fans going full blast even before they need to actually turn on.
I have tried :
- IHS - PAD - Heat sink
- IHS - CLU - PAD - Heat Sink
- IHS - CLU - PAD - CLU - Heat Sink
- IHS - CLU - SHIM - PAD - Heat Sink
- IHS - PAD - SHIM - PAD - Heat Sink -
Thanks.
I was thinking more like this... GPU die - Liquid Ultra - SHIM - Liquid Ultra - Heat Sink.
Liquid Ultra is too thin to use on the new DM3 GPU heatsink.
And if not, you have to spend a lot paste on the new heatsink <If you go for common ICD>. The gap is too big for only CLU.Last edited: Aug 29, 2016 -
Oh THAT IS EXACTLY how im using my GPU right now. And it works like a charm.
Sorry for the confusion. -
-
You dont have to apologies good sir.
But yeah, the Liquid Metal Pads dont quite work that well in our system. -
I'll answer that one for you.
Yes, but it was not plug and play the first go round though. Machine would not post. And the funny thing is when I got it to post the first time. I had my 1 2400 mhz samsung Goldkey and 1 G-Skill 3000 mhz and it posted at 2998 mhz. After that point mine started working fine.
Side note:
Samsung 2400 mhz will run at 3000 mhz.Last edited: Aug 30, 2016ajc9988, jaybee83, steberg and 1 other person like this. -

Can anyone confirm the max rpm reported by hwinfo on cpu fan, gpu1, and gpu2 fan?
With FN+1 afterburner please. -
Lol wut?
What timings?
Its 4.2k RPM -
not anything higher? that's a shame :| -
I thought it was Samsung, but it's called Goldkey
