It happens sometimes for me and other times it doesn't. I think it's probably chrome being open long or using too much RAM. If you've got 64GB you can bump the cache size or use the 64-bit browser and it should be ok.
Edit:
There is no way that's normal. Something is wrong somewhere. I would be inclined to say it's the mouse because of what I know about synapse but if it doesn't happen with the drivers installed... I'm not sure. Try another mouse. The problem I described is certainly app-dependent or internet dependent. Your problem hitting explorer is something very different, especially if you're on a SSD.i_pk_pjers_i, hmscott and Georgel like this. -

I had no issues with my Razer Taipan, but I moved a few weeks ago to the wireless Sensei and I am enjoying it a lot.

My ouboros works fine! Only things are it has to be wired ( mouse lag always seems to happen if wireless).
And..synapse software always forgets what mat I'm using.
So if you don't mind an overpriced wired mouse with software glitches, this mouse is smooth as butter.
Go wired with it! -
I had a logitech g900 chaos and there is no lag wired or wireless on win 10 ( best buy i've ever made) but my old razer orochi has awfull lag on wireless mode, synapse was always buggy for me.

I find wired mice very agitating to use. It drives me nuts having wires other than the power cable connected to a laptop, but especially mice.
I've not had lag with any wireless mouse except for the Razer Orochi, and that was because it tried to go to sleep too often to save battery life. I've got two G700 and think they're fantastic. So is the 'el cheapo' consumer Logitech M315 and my old Dell Wireless BT travel mouse. All of them work great with no lag. I don't think I will ever buy another wireless mouse that is not rechargeable. It's awesome not having to replace batteries.
I never install any Razer or Logitech or Micro$loth bloatware mouse or keyboard software... I view that stuff as worthless garbage.
I'd really like to have one... been eyeing that one for a long time. It looks like an excellent mouse, but just way too expensive. I cannot bring myself to spend that much on a mouse. They never last me long enough to justify more than about $60 on the high end of the price spectrum.Last edited: Oct 3, 2016 -

Well, that's good to know. I've never needed customer service help on a mouse for the past 25 years, but if I do someday I won't want it to suck. For the ludicrous price they are charging, Steelseries should have unmatched service. They should be ashamed of charging so much and giving poor service, but that seems to be status quo for the industry now.
The only criticism I have for Logitech and M$ mice is that their button switches get weak and start having weird/undesirable clicking issues and I have to take them apart and bend the spring inside of the left mouse button switch about once every 6 to 9 months. I really hate that. I would love to have them fix that QC problem.Cass-Olé likes this. -
Razer ? Lmao it's just junk, they are barely alive bc of that DA design.
Any news on Panel QHD 120Hz ?Last edited: Oct 3, 2016 -
You'd be wasting a lot of the mouse's potential if you didn't at least install it once. I have mousepad tuning and my DPI & polling rate set up how I want it as well as nice button maps for music on the mouse.
Even if you wanted it off all the time, you could (at least on the 303/402/502/900) install it, set it to not run with windows, set up the mouse how you want it, and then tell the mouse to use the internal battery for its settings, and keep the software closed. Open it when you want/need to change something. I'm not joking when I say the G502 would be a piece of garbage if I couldn't tune it with LGS.
Worse sensor than G502/G402/G303/G900, 10,000 DPI is pointless (and the 502/900 can use 12,000 anyway), and costs about as much as a 502 (more expensive than 402/303). Also needs Synapse for tuning...
Why would you ever buy this?
Steelseries doesn't want to improve. I had a friend working there and I ended up with a couple of their products, and feedback never went anywhere. And you KNOW how my detailed my feedback can be.
The logitech mice I listed don't have that problem. I developed a problem with my original 502 where it started double-clicking and got a replacement, but aside from that, neither the replacement, nor the 402, nor my friend's 303 and 502 have ever had that issue. And boy do I use my mice =Dhexum23 likes this. -
Gotta love Zowies. No BS mice with really great sensors. Atleast on the FK1 and FK2.
-
EC1-A and ZA11 have better sensors. I know they are driverless, but I prefer my DPI at 3500 so they're useless to me, unfortunately.
-
Are you using a 20 X 20 feet wall as a monitor ?
J/k
Those don't have that much of a better shape though.
I never use my mice over 800dpi , at least not at FHD. Tops I have gone to is 1200dpi @ 4k. -
Ha. I feel everything is too slow otherwise! I'm very precise =D.
I would die. Are you using a 20 x 20 feet mat for your mousepad?

Had my 502 ever since it launched and no click problem so far
-
I'm happy with it as is with the default polling rate. I use Profile 5 DPI @ 1000 and no extra levels for that profile. I did have the software installed once upon a time (out of curiosity) and never saw any measurable benefit from it. And, I never use any of the extra buttons, so no need to custom program those.
Either you're lucky, or they use different switches in the 502. It is a very common issue that affects many different models of Logitech and Micro$oft mice. I have had to do this 5 or 6 times to several different mice in the past 3 or 4 years. Before I found out how to fix the problem, I threw them away and bought a new mouse. Once the problem starts it grows gradually worse. Maybe I am just too hard on them. I throw them in my backpack and briefcase and they take a pretty good beating.

They do. The G303/402/502/900 and the G400S/500S/600 are like comparing the P870DM to the P370EM. There is no real contest, and I wouldn't recommend the models you're talking about.
What is Profile 5 DPI @ 1000? If you mean DPI at 1000, that's fine if you like, though setting the polling rate and tuning for the mousepad I have on the G502 has been immeasurably useful to me. As I said though, since the mice all have batteries for profiles that you can do as you like, you don't need to run the software except for the first time you use it. I can't claim to know about the G500 or G500S etc and its reliance on the software. Only 402/502/900/303. I think the 602 might fall into this category but I can't remember. -
I think same model, DF2C F 7N, but the newer ones use the -20M variant with double the life expectancy.
The G400 (non-S) is excellent mouse though. -
I have both G700 and G700s, and they are the same product other than the newer 700s has a design on the top cover that the older G700 does not. This is their only offering that have the features I want, which are corded/cordless/rechargeable. Since the other models don't have all of those features I have never been interested in them. http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/gaming-mice
There are five profiles that can be used with factory default values, or they can be customized with the software. Profile 5 (the factory default configuration of that profile) is a fixed 1000 DPI. I am a casual gamer, and my interest in game genres is limited almost exclusively to FPS and TPS, so spending a lot of money of features I have no use for doesn't serve me as well as the practical features mentioned above that I require.
I just installed the software to show what I am referring to with "Profile 5"... fixed 1000 DPI with no additional DPI levels.
-
From what I saw, they changed basically everything in them. Had a whole large thing about it too.
I'm actually excited if I get a desktop to get the G910 Orion Spark. Maybe I'll pair it with a G900 and keep it wired, or something. Or use my G502 with it and this laptop with the G900 for out of the house.
Eh, the world will never know.
The G900 would be up your alley, then.
Actually, shooting titles is where mouse sensitivity etc is best tuned, which is ironic since it's what you play and claim to not care about features for xD. For me, there's actually a very discernible difference between just the sensors between mice. Razer Deathadder 3500, Steelseries Rival (the one before they added numbers to the rival name), Logitech G502, Logitech G402. Between them all set to 3500 DPI and 1000Hz polling rate (G402 at 3520 since it moves up in increments and I cannot set a direct number) the two logitechs blow the competition out the water for the precision I require. The 502 is better since it's more perfect of a 3500 DPI, but the 402 is close enough even being 20 DPI off that it still trumps the other two mice.
I did a lot of reading up about sensors around the time the 502 released because I was considering Roccat and logitech as I'd already tried a couple and I didn't want any Razer products anymore, and I found that the sensor for the new logitechs were leaps and bounds ahead in accuracy. After I tried it most other mice felt like a downgrade, really.Last edited: Oct 3, 2016 -
The G900 seems nice, but it is not rechargeable and that's a very valuable feature to me. If I could get one for $50 (what I typically pay for G700/700s) that would let me charge through the cable while still in use I would buy one. I'd never consider paying $100 for any mouse. For my purposes, that's just too much money for a simple pointing device.
Edit: key word to my gaming: casual. You're a hardcore gamer. I'm an overclocker/bencher that plays games sometimes. I think I have played maybe 2 hours max in the past 30 days. I go in spurts where I may not play at all for months and then binge on one title for 10 or 15 hours, then I'm done for a few months.Last edited: Oct 3, 2016DreDre likes this. -
I recently got a g900 after using a g700 for years. The g900 is awesome. It is light, feels great in the hand, feels much smoother than g700 when moving it. G700 is still a great mouse and has a couple more buttons than the new g900 chaos spectrum. I'll be using the g700 for MMOs and the g900 for everything else. One downside is you can't swap out the battery in the g900, but you can use it while charging, and it lasts 20-25 hours and you can just leave it plugged in and charging while laptop is in sleep mode overnight. I used to carry rechargeable batteries and a wall charger in my laptop backpack so I was always wireless. It's a shame you can't do this with the g900, but it isn't much of an inconvenience, and it was also done in part for weight savings. I know you say you don't want to spend that much on a mouse, but to me it is well worth it. I'm just curious since it sounds like you wear out your mouses, how often are you replacing the feet on the bottom?
Speaking of Logitech, I got their g933 Artemis wireless headset at the same time off Amazon super sale for $130, normally closer to $200. It's a great headset. Sounds awesome, doesn't weight much, doesn't start hurting the top of your head or ears even after hours and hours of gaming. Worth checking out especially if it's still that price. -
Thanks for the input. The G900 looks really great. Since I do not enjoy RPG or MMOs the extra buttons are of no real value to me. I don't ever use the extra buttons on the G700 and I would not miss them. I only use the left/right buttons and scroll wheel.
The key words to my gaming interests are casual and limited. I'm an overclocker/bencher that plays games sometimes. I think I have played maybe 2 hours max in the past 30 to 45 days. I go in spurts where I may not play at all for months and then binge on one title for 10 or 15 hours, then I'm basically done playing for a month or two. I have probably 250 games in my library and I have probably completed 15 or 20 of them, maybe less. With maybe a couple of exceptions, COD, Battlefield, Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein and Crysis franchises are the only titles I have ever played long enough to finish a single player campaign. There are dozens of titles that I played maybe 20 to 30 minutes, lost interest and uninstalled them.
Now, I did not know that. I wonder why Logitech does not mention this in the product details?Last edited: Oct 3, 2016 -
G602 if you want that.
Swap out the battery for rechargeable ones, cheap on amazon.Mr. Fox likes this. -
It's rechargeable. I don't know if it's through the cable, but it should be. But yeah, if you're happy with what you have then no reason to jump at another.
But yeah, I guess two different worlds. In my case, what I care most about is everyday stable performance and the ability to do "whatever I want, whenever I want". Whether that's watching anime all day on a saturday or a couple of benchmarks with new hardware or recording video all day and editing it and rendering it out or hell, I've even run Folding@home at times, though rarely. I run my machines into the ground, I'm surprised they last as long as they do. -
Yeah, it's really weird that there is almost no mention of that when I look at the product page. I just now found it in one very inconspicuous spot in the specs. And, it does appear to be through the cable. So, that's all good. I don't understand why they don't make a bigger deal out of that.
http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g900-chaos-spectrum-mouse
So, I frequently drop my mice and treat them kind of rough (since I generally use my laptops away from a desk). Is it really built to take a lot of punishment like that? I'd be scare of having a $150 paperweight. I've had to replace the scroll wheels in both G700s from dropping them on a hard floor and having them land on the wheel, busting up the mechanism, etc. I use a hard mouse pad on the arm of my recliner and they are constantly sliding off and slamming into my hardwood flooring, LOL.
No, I prefer to never remove the batteries and simply recharge through the cable while still using the mouse. -
LOL, I was wondering how/why the mouse topic in this thread myself.
Whose options suck? Are you talking about Razer?
I guess I'm going to have to check out the G900 and see if I can get one for less than $100 somewhere on sale or refurb, open box return, etc. I'm definitely not going to pay $150 for any mouse, but it looks like one that would serve my needs well as long as it is not too fragile. -
G900 can recharge if you plug the mouse in, but cannot remove battery from mouse.
-
Right. I'm OK with that. I never take the AA batteries out of the G700/700s. I just recharge them through the cable. But, now I am looking at the wireless receiver and it looks like that sucks. Is it really a huge USB flash drive sized piece of crap like it appears to be in the photos, or is it the tiny Logitech wireless micro-receiver you can leave in a USB port without having to worry about breaking something? If it's huge like it seems to be in the photos, then there's no way in hell I will consider buying that.
-
It's difficult to have high end performance with those tiny receivers.Mr. Fox likes this.

Well, I don't need high performance that much. I'd rather not have some ugly bugger stick protruding from the side of my laptop and breaking my USB ports, LOL.
Oh, well that's good. So, that must be some kind of holder or something you can use with USB cable on a desktop to place the receiver in another location. -
Yes, it's an extension in case you want to put the dongle closer

Yes, it does look really great and I'm sure it is, but from what I can see it cannot recharge through the cable. That's the kicker for me and the main reason I like the G700 so much. It is extraordinarily convenient and that feature is a must have to me. When the batteries are getting low I just plug in my Bluetooth headset or cell phone charger and keep doing whatever I am doing while it recharges. I never actually use it connected directly to the laptop by USB, even when charging the battery. That feature would be the only reason I would consider the G900 as an alternative to the G700. If the G602 offered that feature I would grab it in a heartbeat. The price is a lot more acceptable for me than the G900.ChenZenn likes this.

I think the battery life is the giveaway. Rechargable batteries generally die within a day or two. Swappable batteries tend to last many weeks. The first wireless mouse I ever used lasted about 3 months of constant usage on a single pair of AA batteries.
I won't lie Mr. Fox, I *NEVER* treat my stuff anywhere close to that. Mainly because I don't know if/when I ever get a replacement. So I'm the last person to ask if it's that durable xD. I will say though that when I was instructed to destroy the first defective G502 I had so they could send a new one, it took multiple hits with a hammer before it actually properly broke. So... maybe?
Also, do you use wireless headsets or just speakers?Georgel likes this. -
Something is eally broken in here...
I can't move it okay in neither explorer nor in chrome.. everything lags. I tested the exact same movement with the exact same mouse on an i3 laptop and it works just fine, with the same software.
Something is broken and it's hell to pinpoint what ;_; -
I was reading about your problems. Definitely is software related. I was having a similar problem recently specifically with this website. It happened on safari browser on my iPhone, as well as desktop Firefox and chrome on my laptop. There was some script cause everything to slow down. I think it may have been related to my adblocker. Once I disabled it on this site, no more system wide slowdowns. I guess some script was having an error due to ads not loading, not sure if that make sense. I was having a similar issue with CNN.com, where everything was freezing up/slowing down until I disabled adblocker.
-
I can confirm it charges through the cable while being used. One more thing about it. The g700 is coutoured for right handers, while the g900 is ambidextrous. At first I did not like the g900 because I was so used to resting my hand a certain way with the g700 after many years of use. But after some serious game time, I found the g900 to feel much more nimble, accurate and responsive. The clicks are more pronounced and just feel better. I've definitely noticed an improvement in my accuracy in games like DOTA2 and Overwatch.D2 Ultima, Papusan, Georgel and 1 other person like this.

I'll keep searching on how to cure this!
What is the best mouse of today? Razer ouroboros is not my cup of tea, so I was considering either G600 or G502 from logitech. I do gaming, wanted a mmo to have fast keys for graphic designs, but G502 looks cool!

The g600 has a laser sensor and the g502 has the best optical sensor money can buy. I have tried just about every mouse out and the g502 is by far the best I've used since the Logitech g9...

+1 for the G900.... I took a gamble and am happy I did. great mouse, even if a bit spendy. definitely rechargeable... also,, you can pick and chose what extra buttons you want exposed or used. it comes with plastic blocks held on with magnets if you prefer no side buttons... most universal mouse I've ever used.

I'm also interested in this G900. G600 seems like it would have a pretty sad ergonomic shape, so it might be off my list for now.
Between G502, G900 and G 700S which one is best for general usage?
Also, is G600 worth a chance, or it's actually pretty bad for everyday usage? -
By the way, is there any difference between Logitech proteus core and Logitech spectrum rgb tunable besides colors?
