Perhaps some compressed air into the heatsinks while holding the fans still is the order of the day.

So I have been having a weird issue with my laptop. Recently when I game on external display I noticed that in heavy games my gpu usage would drop to 0 and the game would hang. I'd hear audio and I can still ctrl+alt+del but mouse usage would be gone and I'd have to restart the system. It happens at random sometimes within minutes and sometimes within seconds and only happens in graphically intensive games.

Now I'm used to random stuff like this happening with pcs so I did the usual debugging. This is gonna be a long post just a heads up lol.

Reinstalled my drivers using display driver cleaner, issue still remains.

I thought it could be a power draw issue (I have the special psu that replaces the dual psu system). Tried different power outlets same problem. I also tried using the old method with two power supplies and the issue still happens so I'm certain it has nothing to do with power.

Removed any OC on my cpu and also it still happens.

Ran a mem test no issues found with the ram.

So I thought it might be a faulty gpu. Just as I was going to send it in I decided to test the same games only not on the external display. No issue what so ever. Then I thought it could be vram related and running at a lower isn't hitting the same vram usage as running on the 4k display. So I used Nvidias DSR to push the output to 4k on the internal monitor and no issues!

So honestly I have no clue why this is happening only when using my external display. Any ideas guys? Tests I could conduct, whatever to narrow down what might be the issue?

No, it is not available to the public from @Prema. Clevo and Clevo resellers do not support 8700K on the machines designed for Sky Lake and Kaby Lake processors. If your machine is brand new, it would have been better to purchase the P870TM instead of the KM if you wanted 8700K.

I guess we can only cross our fingers for us km1 Owners for hopefully future release of the mod. I bought my Km1 when it was first launched. I would not mind paying for the mod once its released,

Hopefully to extend the life of my km1 a bit longer.

I have, Temps dont really allow me to go any further from 4.6hrz with good temps. I can strech it to 4.8 but temps get pretty warm.

I am happy with my setup... gotta say I would love to have the 6 core 8700k even at stock speeds :)

Any idea how much would cost me vapor chamber for KM1-G? And is it a game changer?

It would be greate to play on auto-fan mode without hiting 88C on GPU. Afaik it would lower CPU temps also.

Complicated answer, there are some Pland-based sellers who might be able to help you quicker with less tax inquired along the way in that situation.

I just realized now that every time I game my gpu's have always better temp compare to my cpu. Around 20 deg C difference. Is that normal? Both are over clock! CPU @ 4.7 while Gpu's running at 2000mhz.

If your CPU already reaches 90C+ , you need a repaste, delid, etc.

Also, yes, mostly normal for this to happen

Do you feel like teaching a BIOS newb how to make real life magic happen :p?

I'm assuming the safest route would be to dump my working BIOS and follow you making the need changes? (It would be great to learn something new, be able to change out the logos and what not)

Well,is not to much to say than C+,+!!!Programing,i do my self with another friend,we are not ''experts'' like prema, but what is importing is we did it ,if you want to writt a bios from the beginen is very hard,a BIOS can be written in assembly but doesn't have to be, some parts need to be to get the parameters for the system call since they don't match the compilers calling convention. But if you want to modifi a bios that is much easy, for exemple if u got an original TM bios, than you can try to mod for KM.

Anyone of you mby had some micro damages on casing? I assume that one of my cats had to walk trough my laptop when i was not looking and i see micro damages on casing.

I wonder if it can be somehow polished or filled? By micro damages i mean very small (less than 1mm) "holes".

    Hello.
I'm considering buying this notebook (or TM on the Z370 chipset)
Tell me, is there any way to use NV Optimus technology, or somehow use a notebook with built-in Intel HD graphics?

Nope. iGPU is disabled on all P870s in hardware. Gsync and SLI are both incompatible with optimus. On some other notebooks you can choose between gsync and optimus but both will never be enabled at the same time.

hi all, im a new owner of the p870km with an i5 6600 and nvidia 1070. and im almost happy with the notebook except for one problem: gpu temperature.
while cpu temp max is about 75°, the max gpu temp reach 89° (after repaste, before repaste was throttling because of very poor thermal paste used by clevo). now my question is:
are 89° for gpu normal temp or maybe i have something wrong with the thermal pads ?
is there a measure for all the thermal pads on the 3 pipe heatsink to be used ?

i come from an m17x r4 and there gpu temp was at max 74° (yes 100watt vs 150watt of the clevo)

89° with stock voltages are ok as temperature ? dunno if because it was march, but i read somewere people gettin 72° max on the gpu....

Those numbers will be all over the place.

You can under volt using MSI Afterburner.

The general consensus is that these cards come using way to much voltage for the clocks they are running. So they start to over heat, throttle and power throttle.

    tnx very much :)

ps: instead of using msi afterburner, are there bioses for the 1070 already undervolted ?

    No problem. :)

No bios related under volts floating around for mobile pascal, but You can just have it auto load and minimize to taskbar. Just like any other program running in the task bar.

have just to understand how base and boost works, because on max frequency there is always 1.2 volt in the line.

Base clock is a minimum clock while temperatures are sane, boost goes above and beyond that as temperature and power limits allow.

tnx for reply, but even if i put lower clock, vcore is still at 1.2 as max

edit: i dont want to overclock the gpu, 1700mhz max is enought for me, while looking on gpu-z it reached 1999.5mhz , 1.050 vcore and 86° temperature.

i would like to get 1.7mhz and 0.9 or a bit more vcore and around 75° max for it.

1.2V? Exactly what Pascal GPU do you have that is running a max of 1.2V?

    Edit:
Did you set yours up like this?

yes, but if u look at the curve graph, i on bottom right corner there is 1200 (1.2 volt), and i was thinking it will reach max frequency with that voltage, like in ur case around 1900mhz and 1.2 volt max.

when u set in gpu -z to display max voltage and frequency, what value u have ?

edit: in my msi afterburner, i cant setup core voltage mv bar, power limit and temp limit.

edit 2... i was able to set 1860 for max frequenzy with 0.9 volt, but gpu reached 91°

im thinkink in bad gpu contact with heatsink because of some bad thermal pads on memory or coil or mosfet thikness ?

edit3: ofcourse im using auto fan speed....

Hummm, well the first part is unfortunately in correct. You will not reach that voltage. Your max is 1.062/1.063 MSi is for many gpu's, not just the one in your laptop. :)

When setting the voltage you will need to hit CTRL+ F to get to the voltage curve.
Then hit CTRL + D to reset it to stock.
Then pick a dot on the voltage line and move it up to a desired speed.
Then hit CTRL + L to lock it at that voltage point.
While leaving that window open...Check the big check mark on the main MSI afterburner window to apply it.

And if your benching, I would use max fans

And if you did not lock the voltage at .9V, then it just shot back up to 1.05V when anything is ran on the card. If you did, then dis regard.
