Yeah I have no idea how to determine compatibility and fit without just buying one and testing it.

does anyone here have any issues on running the Clevo Control Center on their unit? ever since the update on windows 10 on the 2nd half of the year i cant seem to successfully run the CCC. even when using the fn+esc key, the cursor just loads but the CCC wont run. im running the latest version (1.14) of the CCC on windows 10 version 1909 with OS build of 18363.535.

can anyone help me? or are there any alternative for me to control the lightings on the keyboard like how i usually control or customize it with the CCC app?

any response is well appreciated. thank you!

Try opening the keyboard app itself. Just click start and search for LED Keyboard Setting.

nvm. i just figured out that when i close the msi afterburner i was able to run the CCC again which is pretty weird. gonna figure out a way for them to be able to run on startup without messing CCC.

Sounds like a sensor level conflict, both trying to grab the same data.

sounds like sensor issue since both have the capability to control GPU voltage and clockspeeds. its just weird because this does not occur before. :/

You might just be hitting the race condition they have developed just right, that's why its never recommended to run two control programs in parallel if possible.

Btw did anyone notice the high temp of PCH in your unit? Mine keeps ramping up at 80 to 90 degrees. Is this normal? When i repasted my laptop i noticed that the PCH chip is just exposed and is not covered by any heatsink.

Mine currently has a max of 90, and average of 72. But I haven't been monitoring that specifically so I don't know how it's actually been behaving under load.

I've seen a max of 104 C when playing Anthem for 1+ hours. It didn't bother me too much - just kept playing... The temp seems to go down by about 5 C if i prop it up.

I didnt also know such a thing exists! Hahaha. Im just monitoring cpu and gpu temps. The one that repasted my unit just noticed it and said that i should also monitor pch temps.

Btw sir. Have you tried overclocking your gpu??

So does it mean that even if your pch reaches 104 at long term gaming this wouldnt pose a negative effect or cause a concern for our laptop?

Ive noticed that passive cooling is our only solution to this since the pch is not covered by any heatsink.

I'm using Afterburner to overclock. For some reason I'm unable to adjust the voltage or anything other than GPU and VRAM clock speed though.

Cant you adjust it using the custom fan curve? Whats your most stable settings at the overclock department? How high is the fps increment and temps increment due to the oc?

GPU +165 and VRAM +350 has been fairly stable for me. I've only checked the fps difference in Star Citizen and it was generally about 7-8, but that game fluctuates so much it's hard to tell. I haven't noticed any temp difference.

I don't see any ill effects yet at this temp. I just learn to ignore it for now since PCH can tolerate high temperatures.

@Meaker@Sager Should we have access to voltage, fan speed, etc in afterburner? Everything but clock speeds is greyed out for me. I just did a Windows reinstall recently but don't recall if it was the same before, or if I have some sort of driver issue. The Clevo fan app controls the fan perfectly fine, so I dunno why Afterburner is having problems.

Yes as it's the ECU on the laptop that controls these, not the gpu.

FWIW on the 15" version PB51RF-G I squeezed two spare 1.5mm pads I had lying around between the PCH and the heatpipe above it after removing some of the black insulating sticker.

With the pads against the heatpipe, my PCH idle temp is usually around 55°c, but when the GPU is under load, the temp can climb up to max around 85°c.

It may not be possible on the 17" version though.

For TS I have -250mv to core and -135 cache. This runs pretty good for me, no BSOD. Only exception is Phantom Doctrine which frequently and randomly CTDs with these settings, so I also have a profile of -140mv to both, that the game runs fine with. I also have my Speed Shift setting enabled and set to 98, which seems to be a good balance between heat and performance.

    These are basically my two TS profiles;
    -140 Core
    -140 Cache
    Speed Shift at 98

    -250 Core
    -135 Cache
    Speed Shift 108

The heat is basically the same between both undervolts, I mostly just swap between them to switch speed shifts if the CPU is running hot now.

My afterburner settings are +165 core clock, and +350 memory. No crashes. Could start with these adjust higher/lower as your system needs.

On laptopchips voltage is locked from what I know, I havent seen any unlocked yet and officially working - would be nice to get temp target although on tripple a games i never see above 62. If anything Id like more TDP

Do you get any errors on TS bench? i think we are governed by bios here (the values take to what the bios is)

Im on a 9750H version and im stuck on .100 anything else i get errors. This is prob the limit of my chip Im guessing.

Quick question to all you guys with more knowledge - i have 32gb of 2400mhz ram, is this overclockable?

Could anyone help me out here? I have no idea about overclocking ram.

    I have a PB71RF0-G - (9750H/2070 nonq)

Overclocking ram is usually the last thing you do due to the smaller performance gains. You could try raising the speed up (might have options in the bios or via intel xtu) one step to 2666mhz to see if it will run at the higher speed.

Sure. The pads I used are adhesive:
    PB51RF-G heatsink.jpg

I stacked two, with the bottom one covering a little more than the die so it reaches completely under the heatpipe, giving the top one more contact with the heatsink. From pics I see of the 17" model, the heatpipe is a little further away, maybe you need to add a heat spreader?

One easy one if you haven't done so already may be to increase the default PL1 Power Limit from 55W, on mine the VRM seems happy delivering ~80W continuously. But the thermals suffer pretty bad on the 15".

You should avoid using adhesive pads as they can take chips with it.

How are you doing that? I tried setting mine to 75w but have never been able to get it to actually stick. HWinfo still reports the default 55/90.

What's difference between this and just removing the cmos battery?
