The benchmark takes about 5 minutes. But it hits high 90º in the first minute of the test.

I'll try to monitor the temps in every day usage.

A pad (just on the controller) will help if you intend to be doing greater than 200GB transfers regularly.

Hi guys, does this laptop come with WWAN antenna pre-wired (so all user have to do is install a WWAN card)?
And how about the webcam quality? Can any owner here put a sample video (please)?

PS: My MSI GT80 webcam have very lousy 1080p video quality, I never know how bad is it until I bought Surface Book 1 and the different is like night and day.. lol

WebCam is probably similar to the MSI. As far as I know, only the Surface has a decent webcam, not even Macbooks have a decent webcam.

Just curious, but what is this heatsink developed for? Is it intended to come standard now?

It's an official Clevo part for the P75xTM1. It's supposed to come standard if the system is equipped with a GTX 1080, but it seems most resellers are supplying those systems with the woefully inadequate 1060/1070 heatsink. Idk whether it's Hanlon's razor or they're doing it on purpose.

    Hello

I just want to buy the P751TM-G 15" notebook.

Will there be any option for Nvidia RTX 20XX this year in this machine ?
Or is it possible to update the MXM gpu later ?

It's interesting we have 3 different cores for the 2080ti 2080 and 1070.

It's the smallest of some large chips so that's not too surprising.

    Hi,

New here I getting a Metabox P750TM-G I want to know what is the difference between the P750TM-G and NP9155/P751TM-G

    My Metabox P750TM-G spec:
    Intel I7-8700k
    Nvidia GTX 1060
    15.6 FHD 1920x1080 60Hz IPS WVA matte
    16GB 2400Mhz RAM
    240GB M.2 SSD SATA
    Intel 9260 AC Dual-Band
    AC Adaptor 230W
    Prema Bios

Is it worth to upgrading the Monitor to a 120Hz/144Hz monitor is it IPS or a TN monitor
The Intel 9260 to Killer 1550 and the AC adaptor from 230W to 330W.

Only difference between the P750 and P751 is the keyboard styling.

High refresh rate is definitely worth having if the games you play can run at 100+ FPS on a 1060. The 120Hz is TN and 144Hz is IPS.

    Killer 1550 is a rebranded Intel 9260.

    230W adapter is fine with a 1060.

In the future can I upgrade to a 144Hz IPS monitor if its possible where do I get the monitor and how hard is it to install or should I change it right now I don't know if it possible cause I have already order the P750TM-G with 60Hz IPS monitor

The panel model is AUO B156HAN07.0. You should be able to get it from your reseller, or at places that sell spare parts like RJTech/Clevo-Extreme/Eurocom, or look on eBay/AliExpress/Panelook. Swapping the panel requires disassembly, but idk how hard it is as I've never done it myself. You can probably find some videos on it or look in the service manual. Honestly though it'll be easier to just change it on the order, especially if you just placed it and they haven't built the system yet.

Thanks for your help I will ask if it possible to change the monitor

If I unable to change the monitor for my order and just buy a AUO B156HAN07.0 from a reseller will I lose G-Sync on my P750TM-G

You won't lose G-Sync because that is an officially supported panel.

Thanks I did manage to change my monitor to a 144Hz

Under your sig you manage to install Window 7 Pro I thought it was not official supported.

How did you install it any guides in the forum you can link me to and how is the driver support under Window 7

Is it possible to get dual OS on the P750TM-G one with Window 7 and the other is Window 10 and is there any guide on it.

    Thanks

I followed this guide to install Windows 7. All the regular drivers work except Thunderbolt 3, which I don't use anyway.

Yes you can dial boot windows if 7 is in uefi mode.

Windows 7 can't be installed in UEFI mode on this system, so both OSes would have to be legacy installs.

Ah fair enough, both do need to be in the same legacy mode yes, otherwise things would get messy.

    Actually you can use UEFI.

What you do is, install windows 7 in UEFI mode first (I would partition things here to split the drives). Then once it's installed...it won't boot up (past Starting windows screen).

Now you can install windows 10 on the other partition. Then the windows 10 boot loader will ask whether you want to load 7 or 10...there's still one more step.

Now go into the BIOS and enable CSM, boot into windows 7 and install the latest GPU drivers. Once this is done, you can go back to the BIOS and run in pure UEFI mode again.

This worked for me on P870DM and P870DM3, even Alienware M18x. So it should work. You will want to use an up to date windows 7 install though.

I wasn't able to install Windows 7 in UEFI on this system. No matter what I did, I would always get a freeze or BCD error after booting from the USB. Believe me, I'd love to make UEFI work so I can see my custom boot logo, but it wasn't happening. It didn't work on my last Clevo either, a P650SG.

Fast boot also has to be turned off. It's probably not worth going through the trouble to get 7 to work with UEFI. Or change boot logo in legacy mode as well lol

Tried all the boot related BIOS settings, didn't work.

I'm talking about the logo during system POST (that shows F2=Setup Options and F7=Boot Options), not the "Starting Windows" screen later on. As far as I'm aware, the former requires modifying the BIOS to insert a custom logo there. And it doesn't show up unless UEFI is used. Legacy only shows the stock POST logo.

So @Meaker@Sager, is this SSD cooling aproved?

Tried to follow your advice of not having a "unified" heatsink. It improved the temperatures by 20º ins the controller (I assume is the part closest to the m.2 connector) and about 10º in the data chips. I was getting around 80ºC in the controller and now I get 60º, and the data chips from 60º to about 50º. I still need to test a bit more, but it seems to have improved the temps.

Another question, does anyone have the temperature improvements from the older heatsink to the new one using a 8700 + 1070? Maybe @XMG can help?
I don't have temperature complains, but if it lowers the fan noise, I'll probably buy one :p

@skandal the HS was designed primarily for the 1080 option, unfortunately I don't have access to 1070 figures with the new HS at the moment.

Up to 10C drop on the GPU, and 3C drop on the CPU when the GPU is loaded at the same time. But the CPU went up 7C in CPU-only loads. This was with i5-8600K and GTX 1080 though.

I suppose it's a balance of heat cooling the chip and keeping the NAND warm.

I must run 3DMark stress test and see temps to determine if I'll gain something by using the new heatsink.

This is the reason I didn't buy the "unified" piece for the SSD. I used independent heatsinks for each chip.

So I just booted my machine from sleep, and the fan went full blast, just loading Chrome. Then it overheated and shut down!

Looked at taskmanager and biggest CPU was chrome, and nvcontainer.exe was using a lot of IO.... but the machine shouldn't overheat?!?! I wasn't using any intense software, just regular browsing and background services.

A mod question to lower temp:
    1) Drill 2 holes, each by 12x25 or depending on the thin fan size, on the bottom panel
    2) Mod 2 thin fans so that they can be plugged in using USB-port
    3) Glue the 2 fans on the inside of the bottom panel, and plug in the USB-port on the back and/or side of the laptop

Would this lower the temp of the laptop?

The 2 extra fans increase the amount of cool air present inside the chassis, cooling the heat pipes and therefore lowering the temp. Or at least that’s the hypothesis.

My design is similar to placing the laptop on a cooling pad. It's just closer to the motherboard and more direct approach. Therefore, I'm not sure where my hypothesis fails.

Small fans wont move much air, pads help reduce the work the system fans have to do to draw in air.

I mean that the pads will be in place since I plan to purchase it from HID, the fans will be added on top of that. Since the fans I’m thinking of are at least 12x200, wouldn’t it be adding something as well? How different is my idea compared to placing the laptop without the bottom panel on a cooling pad?

Pads help cool the internals like the chipset a bit but to cause better cooling on the gpu/CPU they are changing the air pressure below the laptop between it and the surface.

I've been thinking about "thermal pads" when you say "pads" :p. Silly me! Yes, I'm really green to this.

I see what you're saying now. Do you think that the cooling pad would be more efficient than my design? Or if it is worth it at all?

The only way to have Prema Bios at this point is to purchase the machine from a Prema Bios Partner, meaning if Metabox is a Prema Bios Partner, they will remotely flash it to you via Teamviewer, or at least that's how HIDEvolution and other American partners do it. On the other hand, if Metabox is not, then I don't know how else to get it.

For overclocking, you can search on YouTube "MSI Afterburner Jayztwocents". I think you can start there, at least that's what I've been watching.

I'm a greenie as well, so I don't know much about fan control program on Win 7, perhaps @Meaker@Sager @Papusan @Ultra Male @Mr. Fox @Prema and other senior citizens :p can help.
