Whaaaaat?!? That's Phenomenal! I already have an W110ER... Hmm, wondering if I should purchase it... Nah, I'm fine with my Clevo..
-
-
Oh well, with summer's coming, i'll be ready for BBQ with my I7 3720...
More seriously, do you think there are ways to cool that little devil down while having the full power on this CPU ?
-
is this deal only for Military personnel???? I've been following this thread and HTWingNut's thread cause I''m about to pull the trigger on the NP6110.. but if there's a way to jump on this M14x deal I would do it in a heartbeat
made an account just to ask haha -
Yes, I'm sorry. It's only available through the Army and Airforce Exchange website, which requires you to be military, or associated to create an account.
I on the other hand, am biting my lips... Should I purchase?! -
You need to evaluate your needs. For me I'm glad I got the w110er as I needed the smaller size. The m14x is nearly the size of a small 15.6 laptop. I got my w110er today and I'm going by Fry's tomorrow to try out laptop coolers. I'll try to remember to take a picture of the w110er sitting ontop of the m14x they have on display with my phone to show you the size difference.
If there was a 13 inch or a true 14inch laptop that came with this power I'd be mighty tempted myself but the m14x isn't that laptop.
I'm also very paranoid about the pressure that can be applied to the backside of a LCD screen by force that is applied to the lid and I'm very happy with the w110er in that regard. Its not as good as some of the best business laptops but they don't have the performance or size I want. Its better then the m14x though. The body of the m14x is stiffer but the lid on the w110er does a better job of diffusing pressure applied to the back of the screen. -
Is there any way you could post up a screen shot of the mx14? Wouldn't mind having a look see.
-
Some shots of our BIOS screens which enable some features that always get requested on these machines, including the ability to use HDD passwords
-
Very nice
Good job !
-
Yes the W series allows some menu unlocks. I am glad that finally a reseller decides to officially offer this feature from their side.
Great step towards the community.
Mythlogic = enthusiasts choice
Rep+1 @ Myth -
So Prema, when you gonna unlock those for us?
Shouldn't we be able to take that BIOS from a Mythlogic Clevo and apply it to the Sager?
-
It would be interesting to see if disabling Hyper threading would make the processor run cooler.
-
That was my hope. I wouldn't mind the option to turn off boost in the BIOS either. For what I do, don't really need it. Just want four cores.
-
I got my Mythlogic Chaos 1212 (W110ER) in today. If you guys need a copy of the BIOS let me know what I need to do. If Myth doesn't have any objections.
-
I'm hoping this too. If someone could pull themselves away from gaming for a few hours to test this, I would really appreciate it.
-
Check your PM beta-tester
It's their effort, we shouldn't do that!

Hello. I'm thinking of buying the Sager NP6110 but I still have some questions. As far as I now and according to the the review concerning this laptop the Ivy brdige Intel® Core i7-3610QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz) a temperature of 85-90 degrees celcius is normal. But what's the expected temperature of the sandy bridge i5-2450M Processor ( 3MB L3 Cache, 2.50GHz - 3.1GHz) dual CPU? Am asking cuz i honestly hope that this beautiful machine will last at least 2 - 3 years and if the temperature diference between the i5 and i7 is signifinact i prefer to purchase the i5 (the logic being lower temperature longer life). Please answer my question in detail if possible. What is the battery life with the i5 CPU? Is it worth it to get the 750GB Seagate Momentus XT ST750LX003 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 8GB Solid State Hybrid isntead of 500GB Seagate XT 7200RPM 500GB (w/ 4GB SSD Memory) NCQ Hybrid (Serial-ATA II 300 - 32MB Cache) (diference in cash 65 USD)?
The options that I have postet are the only options avalible by the provider form whom I'am thinking of buying this laptop.
I'm from Europe can you give me links or tell me all the providers of Clevo W110ER in Europe?
Thank you for yout time! -
I'm now waiting out for more battery life reports. Seem's to be some conflicting reports on battery life from the two reviews that I've read. Htwingnut's was quite poor, the review I read on OCAU stated 4 - 5 hour battery life.
-
With the 650M in GDDR3, how long do you guys figure this computer will last in gaming relevancy? Not on consistently high settings, but adequate ones. I'm seriously considering getting one of these as my main rig. I don't mind the screen size or the battery life and as long as the temps don't come back and bite me.
Also, how easy is it to swap out the wireless card for something else (Killer-1103)? -
Those are questions everyone is asking. We don't know yet because nobody's reported on the results with the i5. Also, someone earlier in this thread posted a link to European resellers, and it was a comprehensive list. I can't find it at the moment, but take a look through this thread, last 20 pages or so.
Considering the performance is GTX 560m level, at 1366x768 you'll be perfectly fine for a solid 2 years at least. And take a peek at the photos and videos of the insides of the unit. Takes 60 seconds to swap out the wi-fi card. Just have drivers ready.
3.5-4 is about normal. Another user here, forget username at the moment reported over 3.5 hours from a general use perspective as well. NBR review reported a little over four hours with one web page refresh every 60 seconds. Even at power saver with a single page refresh I was barely able to eek out 4 hours. I'd like to know what OCAU did for their testing, because I'm not seeing anything useable past 4 hours.
edit: I see this thread: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1028281 and even refer to my posts, but he says my life is from gaming. I'll have to register there and figure out what he did to get over 5 hours battery life. Just don't see it. I can imagine if he used an estimated battery life. But until you actually run the battery down, first estimates from software are always way off. -
You'll have to settle for a Killer-1102 - only two antennae wires.
-
Sittin' in the same boat mate..
-
So does disabling HT decrease temps? I want to try that BIOS out...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2 -
It's supposed to, less work = less power = more battery
Can't wait until someone tests it
Mythlogic has their new BIOS set up
-
With that logic, lets all get i3 CPU in this and STFU.
I joke, but serious why slow down the CPU it seems kind of counter intuitive. -
Has anyone who ordered from xoticpc gotten their's yet? How long does it take?
-
I considered going with an i3-2330M - thinking I could swap to a quad later but I figured I'd be talking 30mins to an hour extra battery tops at the expense of a lot of performance and not a lot more money... I went for the beast build and am super pleased.
-
I ordered through xoticpc. Mine has shipped... Still in transit though.... Processing time took 4 business days (held up on my end) build time took another 4 business days, and shipping should be another 4 business days according to UPS
-
It looks like one of the 3612QM users is trying to duplicate your light usages battery tests. In THIS post he got 4 hours and 18 minutes doing a similar test to one where you got 3.5 hours.
It looks like the 3612QM has about a 20% battery life advantage over the 3610QM but disabled turbo boost(fixed at 2.1Ghz) when on battery and using the 650M.
You could still use a 1103, you'd just have to find somewhere to stash the third antenna. This being a Clevo that will be easier then on some laptops as you'll be able to take it apart more easily. -
True enough. There is some room.
-
Is the killer network card truly worth it? I ordered the Intel Advanced card with mine which should be significantly better than the integrated one but what kind of difference does the Killer card make?
-
I think the Killer card has better latency...
ppl will answer better than me on that question.
-
Its a completely different animal from the original Killer series, check some reviews, its pretty darn impressive.
-
I went with the 6235 as I need the BT built in since this laptop doesn't have a second mPCIe slot that I can do my normal convert to a internal USB port to hide the BT adapter I need to tether to my phone.
The KN card seems to be better for a non-tethering gamer if you have a router that is good enough to allow the KN card to strut its stuff. -
For what its worth I wifi tether to my phone so BT meant diddly to me.
-
I was looking at the last bios picture you've uploaded, and there seems to be a control setting for how many cores are used. Can one limit that to lets say, 2?
-
I would kill to get my hands on that BIOS, less cores and disable HT. Oh the things I could do if I had that.
When are you planning on letting us use it?(could I beta test it?) -
If that were the case, I would be a very happy man!
-
Be patient guys, we are doing some testing...if you are interested in beta testing your welcome to PM me.
We have build groups with different targets:
- enable charging above 90W for people with 120W PSU
- disable the 3612QM throttle
- testing each feature of menu unlocks (Turbo, Active Cores, HT, C-States etc...)
Results take time because we are all in different timezones and I don't have my W110ER, yet...looking at you Myth.
-
Oh man, im excited
-
PM sent, cant wait to try this out!
-
out of curiosity, would we ever get to a point where we can over clock the gpu? Would it be possible?
-
anyone done reviews on the screens? I'd like to see if the matte version is really usable outdoors.
-- as far as I am concerned with glossy: 200cd/m is only useful indoors. ~250cd/m starts to be visible in the shade outside... and somewhere around 300 or 330cd/m is fine for general outdoor use. But it really depends on the screen and I'd love to see a write up
edit #2: the regular glossy screen got a 211cd/m measured in the notebookcheck.com review. Hope the matte screen does better! The whole laptop got a pretty low review imho, with heat, display, and poor game performance all showing. 35C on idle -- really? Hopefully the 3612qm solves this.
edit #1: I found the difference I was looking for in the images earlier from myth -- the 45w parts like the 3610qm is down throttled to 1.3Ghz-2.3Ghz instead of running at full throttle. So you probably get a lot of extra horsepower from the 3612qm which shouldnt need to be down-clocked. -
Woot, order finally in production. Only 10 more business days. :/
-
I can't make measurements of cd/m or anything like that but I've found that 40% brightness is sufficient outside on a sunny day with no cover over me. 15% is enough when I'm in shade but 20% is better.
-
Hey Baenwort thank you, I know this "Chaos 2112" that you have. They are the only ones with the matte screen right now in the US.
So you have the matte version?
That is awesome.
I've read that the listed cd/m for the matte option is 280cd/m -- which optimistically maybe it really achieves that. That would be 112cd/m at 40% -- It just seems so low. But if so, great! I guess maybe the cd/m scales I am remembering is for glossy screens.
Can you tell me, instead of just usable, can it achieve clear images at 100% outdoors? I mean, so it doesnt look dark/grey/yellow or whatever. -
I feel a bit worry about the 3720QM on this machine, i hope the Bios brewed by Prema and tested by community will do some kinda miracles ! Amen
P.S: i could do some testing as soon as i receive the chip. I have everything BUT the chip...AArrrrGGhhhh !!!!
-
Would it be possible to modify RAM speeds in the bios as well? I've heard some systems can overclock RAM from the BIOS and that should help with integrated GPU performance while on battery. Thoughts?
-
No we won't be able to do this, sorry
Why would you overclock RAM on such a small laptop? just asking, say we could -
The RAM settings are in a disabled part of the main menu.
If this bios works the same way as the prevoius W generation then we can not enable it. (we could unlock sub menus but not main menus)
We can force the bios to use certain Mhz, but that is too risky and I would only do it on my own system. -
??? What do you mean by this? The 3610QM can run full 3.1GHz with all four cores active.
I'm still confused by battery life though.
