It should be much faster. Biggest reason, 96 cores vs. 384 cores. HUGE improvement. 670MHz vs 835MHz with boost to 950MHz.

Yeah this is what I'd like to know? Does Prema's new BIOS fix this issue?
Sort of afraid flashing it to the new one becuase I never did it before and don't want to brick my laptop. Everythings running great with the stock BIOS so not sure if the new one is worth the risk me messing everything up.
Some input on the new BIOS would be great.

I had never flashed a BIOS before and it went swimmingly. No problems if you follow directions. As far as I can tell it does NOT solve the turbo issue but i havent really explored it yet. Also, disabling hyperthreading has a disappointingly small impact on battery life. On my custom power saver profile (optimized for downloading overnight), with hyperthreading off, I got just over 3:30 of battery life in the BatteryEater Reader's test D:

It MUST be Optimus that is to blame. Running 4 threads at 1.2 GHz should give an improvement over twice as many, especially on a 45W CPU.

i actually found the laptop to be a bit snappier with less performance spikes with HT off, mind you this was with an intel 320 120gb SSD so it might be placebo. Though the real difference was under full 4 core load, there was a drop of 5 degrees on average under prime large FFT

So besides a slight improvement in battery life and power consumption Prema's BIOS while adding some really good additional features does not fix the CPU throttling with the 650M in use?
Battery life was not an issue with me still wondering if the update is worth it?
Can you guys run some tests to see if there is a improvement, that is if someone is kind enough and has the time.
    Thanks

    hello,

Guys, I am from Sweden and glad to see everyone here. I have a question about the power adapter of w110er. In Sweden, the w110er with i7 3610 only configured with 90w power adapter. Is this 90w adapter power enough for the i7 3610 even when the turbo boost is running. I am quite confused.

It would be enough, your power brick just might not last as long. If both the GPU and CPU turbo-ed at the same time you might go over 90W, but i dont think it will be an issue. I cant be sure though, I own the honking 130W power brick.

Has anyone found a good sleeve for this laptop? Something that is a good fit for it? Just sort of want one since it'll be bouncing around my backpack a lot.

i imagine quite alot of sleeves were made for those, might be worth looking into it

Thanks for the reply. What is the score of your i7 3610qm in 3dmark 06? I am quite interested in it. Because I saw some socres of i7 3610qm with 90w is around 4500. I think this mark is quite low since the i7 3610qm should have the sorce about 6000. This may cause by the 90w adapter, which make the turbo boost not run with full speed.

This poor guy named Richard that I chat with almost everyday on RJTech online chat has to be the calmest guy ever. I have waited until the moment that little green "Support Online" button turns colors and asked for information where my order is. He has gave me great detail everyday on where my order is in it's process! It's shipping out today and I can't wait!

I will post that RegPatch info once I figure out how to put it in a Spoiler section haha!

Turbo is disabled when using the Nvidia GPU, that has nothing to do with the power adapter.

Anyone have any experience in playing Diablo 3 with this laptop? How was the gameplay performance (fps). Also what settings and resulotions you've played it at. Thanks.

I placed my W110ER order with Eurocom on Monday with an i7-3610qm, matte screen, no OS, no drive (will use a Crucial M4 120GB), and 120W psu. They were exceptional to work with and it is being delivered tomorrow (3 days from order date), just in time for a 2 week business trip. I went with Eurocom because of the matte screen option and their willingness to meet a short deadline. I highly recommend them!

    D3 runs well.
But i haven't tested it extensively until now.
I run every setting except shadows on highest possible.
Can't say anything about fps, I find thats pretty depending on where you run around.

If I run alone in Act I, its mostly between 40 and 60 (vsync on)

Understood, I was simply implying a maximum load scenario

Edit: I just got Diablo III, am running it at 1650x1050 on my 24" and it runs just fine on maxed settings :D

On a side note my internet is not very good so playing a singleplayer game with a ping of 175-300 can be quite annoying :/

There are no ratings/reviews at Gdgt for the W110ER yet, if any of you want to rate it there that would be cool, you can rate it here Sager NP6110 review - gdgt
I'll add my rating to it once I get my W110ER and can give a proper rating.

I was thorn between getting the quads or no.. but at the end of the day I will only play Diablo 3, TF2, LoL, and maybe some CS:Source so I really don't need a quad on there... Or so I am trying to convince myself I don't ahah.

I ordered mine with a Quad for longevity and broader range performance. I don't want to run into an app or game later and kick myself because I didn't get the Quad, so I just dropped the extra 100$ now, instead of having to pay more later.

The first gen Eee PCs sport 7" displays and weigh less than 1 kg so I highly doubt the W110ER will fit in sleeves made for the Eee PC.

I join your search for a fitting sleeve though.

YES, but you require a "High Speed HDMI" cable and it will be limited to 720p50 and 1080p24 or 720p60 and 1080p30.
So I guess for gaming the 720P refresh rates are the best choice. :)

Question: If, as people suspect, there's an inefficiency or something in the BIOS that results in too high of power draw from the GPU while it's supposed to be inactive, who does that fall to to potentially "fix" the issue, Clevo or Sager? The reason I ask is because I emailed both about the battery life and whether the 3.5 hours was expected or considered a problem, and have heard back from Sager. They said, "the battery running time is about 4 hours with Intel HD graphic adapter." Not exactly earth-shattering news, but to me that implies that's how it's designed to work, rather than something they hope to improve...

Hey guys, I've been reading up on this thread for a while, and it played a crucial part for me in deciding to buy the w110er. I just want to thank everyone for discussing and posting all these great info. I placed my order with LPC digital and got my order this week. I sticked with the quad 3610 because I needed a portable desktop replacement for school in another state, and this one fits the bill perfectly. I tried looking for 13 inch quad cores but no luck, and I was about to settle for the lenovo y480 before I found this thread!

Just wondering, has there been any breakthroughs in better battery life, with or without the Prema mod? Like a 30 minute increase? The battery is the only drawback so far...

Oh and I got this case for my little powerhouse Amazon.com: Case Logic 12.1" Laptop Sleeve: Electronics
It fits perfectly and the pocket in the front is stretchable enough to even hold that gigantic 130W power supply.

Hello all, finally I also got my hands on my Clevo W110ER. I picked it up from a local reseller today.

Mine has the i7-3610QM, but I got the 90W power supply.

Could someone please advise me which 120W power supply is good for this little monster?

    TIA.

overheating causes the machine, which isnt powered by a powersupply to turn "off" and go into sleep mode as it gets overheated yes, as posted above, probably because you've got the machine on your lap or because it's clotted up inside with cat hair or dust

Hello, I am close to purchasing this laptop but I'm wondering about the CPU. The default CPU option is the i5 3210, how does this measure up to the i7 3610 in terms of actual gaming performance? The kind of games I'm wanting to play are diablo 3, civ 5, guild wars. Could I safely save myself 150ish$ without sacrificing lots of performance ? Also would the i5 3210 provide better temps? Thanks.

more and more games are equipped and being made to support quadcore better (the 3xx0QM version) and thus making it not only more future proof but also more "powerful" as you will as games will take advantages of all the cores at some point, I would choose the quadcore, but it wont improve the gaming performance by much therefore picking the i5, which obviously would save you a lot of money as you yourself said.. but it's kinda up to you save money vs slightly more performance and better future proofuness (is that even a word..) ? :)

It should be. I'd prefer O's to the U, though: footoor proofooness.

Thought about waiting for the faster dual cores at least, but I opted for the i5-3210 in the end; I figured the price was already right for me right now--and would probably stay that way for a while.

In terms of future proofoofoo, I expect (optimistically) to upgrade the proc in another two or three years, among other things.

Eurocom started offering the i7-3920XM Extreme Edition CPU (2.9GHz base, 3.8GHz Turbo) earlier this week, though they tell me that they have no plans on taking advantage of this CPU's unlocked multiplier.

I asked for internal temps but they sent me case temps for the i7-3720QM.

The XM is expensive and probably ridiculous for this notebook, but those base clocks are nice, especially if the "issue" of the disabling of the CPU Turbo Boost while the GPU is active isn't fixed. Curious about the internal heat though.

Does anyone know or have done a laptopvideo2go driver upgrade? I saw in a few previous posts that people have been able to overclock the GT650M by ~100Mhz using the new drivers. Can someone give a quick guide on how we would go about doing it?

I would be worried that the 55W TDP would be too high. Clevo specs it out at 45W TDP. You could just go with the i7-3820qm, it's 2.7 Ghz / 3.7 Ghz on boost. If you can't overclock it, then it's just not worth it. Now if Prema could figure out how to enable overclocking CPU via BIOS and you could use it without melting your Lappy then it might be worth it! :)

Follow the guide on the Laptop 2 Go forums to install it (Basically download the driver and the modded inf and combine them and then install). Once you have the newer drivers installed (Any of the 300 series) you can just use MSI Afterburner or your favorite GPU OCing program and it will work.

I've reverted to the stock drivers for now as I ran into a issue with the GPU running at full voltage and speed all the time when I went to the 300 series drivers (both the 301 and the 302) as they neither of them officially support the 650M. We're still waiting for a fully featured driver from nVidia that supports the new Kepler mobile cards.

actually 55w TDP is not that bad, its what my laptop is at currently with Prema's mod. At worst, the i7-3920xm probably wont boost the 4 cores as much, maybe to 3.2ghz or so. The advantage of running 2.9ghz on 4 cores + GPU is real attractive for games like BF3, it'll even do well in the older dual threaded games
