For everybody with W110er laptops rejoice!!! for a solution to the turboboost with gpu has been found.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/531329-throttlestop-guide-110.html
Courtesy of unclewebb, Throttlestop 5.00 beta 1
The program can force the ivy CPUs to turboboost while the GPU is active, it is confirmed by myself to work on W110er laptops with i7-3610m, it may work for other CPUS and perhaps even the W150er.
Just out of caution, when boosting gpu AND cpu at the same time, my temps could reach 90s with extended use so PLEASE BE CAREFUL, there was a very real reason clevo disabled turbo while gpu is in use.
PLEASE if you use the program, take the time to submit your usage data/bugs etc and sincere gratitude to Unclewebb so he can better refine the program for a final release
again, all credit goes to Unclewebb -
So prime+furmark keeps your gpu @ below 80C? Amazing! My w110er lasts only a few minutes under such duress...

Just had a few sudden reboots, temperature is far too hot, screen is garbage.. as much as I would love to have an 11.6" notebook with this kind of power, the W110ER in it's current state just isn't cutting it for me, it's going back within the 30 day return window.
-
I can confirm that this works. The nicest thing about it is you don't have to allow it to turbo up to the full 3.2 ghz. I found that doing 2.8 on my machine doesn't raise the temps as badly, but is still a nice 500mhz boost. Also this allows this machine to play wii games perfectly in the dolphin emulator. Quite amazing for an 11 inch machine.
Thanks marksman for testing and of course uncleweb for the awesome throttlestop program. It has been very handy for me on several laptops. -
Yeah, running full 3.1GHz with dGPU at 100% my machine will run to 95/96C and start throttling down speed to 2.8 or 2.9 to maintain less than 95C. It does work, but so far find no need to do it for the stuff I use it for. I'm quite fine with no boost for the time being.
-
How did you do it? I've tried everything. Optirun always complains "[ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU"
-
Have you tried it when gaming? Are the temps still in the 90's?
This looks like it an amazing tool to use if temps didn't peak that high.
What exactly do you have to disable in the BIOS to get TS to work?
Or does EIST usually needs to be enabled in the bios and enabled in ThrottleStop so that ThrottleStop can work properly?
Not up to date with this program. -

Did a proper re-paste with Arctic Cooling MX-2 and then gently pressed the heat sinks down a bit to make sure things were snug, and it dropped my temps by 10c on CPU and 12c on the GPU. Since re-pasting the CPU never breaks 84c after hours of heavy gaming, and the GPU hasn't broke 72c, all with 25c ambient temps.
I'll have to rethink returning it now that I have the temps at a decent level, but this screen is just horrible, the viewing angles aren't even it's biggest issue, it's the black levels, they are non existent, the contrast is probably the worst I've ever seen. -
See! it's possible!!! This is how I got the low temps. -
Instead of reading through this entire thread, do most people generally experience temperature/cooling issues? If so, only when heavy gaming?
What about with a cooling pad? Would I still need to take measures to improve cooling?
My NP6110 is yet to arrive, however I ordered it yesterday and I want to be satisfied with my purchase.
Thanks -
you will be very satisfied, with a few tweaks the laptop outclasses most 15 inch models out there. As for cooling, its only a really big problem if everything was running at full blast, temps can reach the high 80s and even 90s but considering the amount of power on tap its to be expected.
Oh and i suggest reading the past few posts and some posts by Prema, they'll detail some tweaks to improve your machine well beyond the stock levels
Cooling pad:
I'm using a coolermaster U3, bit heavy but allows me to optimally position the stock 5v fans. Plus I can also strap regular 12 v case fans to it using zip ties (e.g. noctua fans for silence), I power the whole rig with a jumpstarted desktop PSU. -
Are any resellers still offering the i7 2720qm?
-
my only complaint about this laptop is the heat (which get worryingly high sometimes if i'm running at full blast doing folding@home, but other than that it never gets hot) and the battery life.
-
Can anyone interested in selling theirs give me a PM please?
-
With an ICD repaste, I'm seeing around 93C and 80C with Prime95/kombustor running. Have you logged temps with those programs running, or just getting readings during heavy gaming?
For whatever reason, hwinfo doesn't log proper gpu temps for me. -
I bought one of these from an Australian retailer here. So far I really like it (though I agree that the screen is a bit of a disappointment, however I'm coming from an 11" MacBook Air so everything else is a huge improvement) but I am having an enormous issue with Bluetooth. I upgraded to the offered Intel Centrino Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 + High Speed Adapter (whatever that is, I'm guessing it's a part of the Intel Advanced-N 6235 wifi card?) and whenever I wake from sleep or wake from hibernate, the Bluetooth simply no longer works. I can toggle it on and off but no devices will ever connect to it. It takes a full reboot to get my keyboard and mouse working again, and it's happened with multiple devices that work fine otherwise. There doesn't seem to be any driver updates and it's really frustrating me. Has anyone else encountered this?
-
Which few tweaks are those? (This is a massive thread, sorry).
I'm not really interested in overclocking since I don't want to hit throttling, heat or poor battery life issues. Are those the only suggested improvements, or are there things I can do to improve those issues instead? -
Finally placed my order. Coming in from AUS so i hope it will be here this week. Just hoping that customs don't stop it. They always stop my imports and charge extra tax...
I'm actually getting rid of my beast PC, hoping this new mini beast will stand in for it. -
This laptop disables the CPU turboboost when the graphics card is active, while this is not a problem with newer games, you might notice lag in older games which won't tax the GPU very much but stress the CPU, such as Sins of a Solar Empire which favour high clockspeed single cores.
the program Throttlestop can prevent this but you have to watch the temperatures carefully
http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...t-upgrades/531329-throttlestop-guide-110.html
one of the users, Prema, has created a custom BIOS (based off the official 1.0.3) which adds a couple of extra options to the BIOS screen.
The main function is to disable Hyperthreading for potentially better temperatures, intel GPU overclocking (i used it to reach the i7-3920xm speeds), RAM overclocking and a host of other features.
you can check it out at:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...8-clevo-w110er-prema-bios-mod-rc1-review.html -
Possible but very unlikely in my estimation, given the fact that the Ivy is a comparatively more potent cpu, clock for clock, than previous generation processors.
Lower frames, most likely, but not lagging... -
Hi,
(first post, yay)
There's a new Beta driver over at the nVidia website that is compatible with the GT 650M.
The version is " Verde 304.48".
Can anyone check if it's an Optimus-enabled driver and if it solves the issues with the "off-state" GPU power consumption? -
laptopvideo2go has just released THIS
new inf files
but it's for the 302.80 though
-
I'm installing these now, I find out if it makes any difference with power usage.
-
This inspired me to repaste as well - with MX-4. Some improvement is visible. Prime+Furmark was 96/92C for the cpu/gpu, but that was after 8 rather than 3 minutes, and the lil' beast did not power down this time. In idle the difference seems small, though, not more than 2-3 degrees. But this is before burn-in time...
-
yay nvidia finally has our card in official (beta) drivers.

You should give MX-2 a try, it's the best paste I've ever used, it also gets a lot of praise (people saying it's better than the newer stuff MX-3 and 4), no curing time, nice and thick, easy to spread, and is on par with the best of em. I've had this tube sitting in my cupboard for 2 years, still works like a charm. -
The beta drivers do work but doesn't reduce power consumption. It has increased my performance though by 5-10FPS in Just Cause 2
-
I have heard that these new beta drivers are not working for most people with the 650m.
Is it working for you guys? I have not tried (don't have my machine yet). -
It caused a total white fading screen when I first installed it, I had to do a clean install of the drivers.
-
If someone in Europe needs the 130W Power Supply drop me a PM!
EDIT: NOW ITS GONE

Hey guys I am having a problem. I am trying to migrate my Wubi install of Ubuntu to a partition, and windows will not let me shrink the primary partition to make one for Ubuntu. When I click shrink volume in the disk manager it says "No such interface supported" and will go no further. I cant find any conclusive information on this online, so I thought maybe y'all could throw me a bone.
I have a Seagate 750 GB 7200 RPM HDD and am running Prima's BIOS if that helps. SeaTools for windows shows no errors on the hard drive and I am running an SFC scan right now. I'll edit in the results.
Edit: Here is what I got, sorry for the blue text not sure how that happened:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot.
Edit 2: Still didn't work -
To change partition sizes in W, use EASEUS Partition Manager. It's free, and I have used it on more than 2 dozen partitions - every time flawlessly.
-
They work for me (after a clean install w/ driversweeper). One small annoyance, though: I have the Nvidia GPU Activity applet in my taskbar, and while with the 302.59 drivers I never had any activity when not taxing the GPU with appropriate software, now the applet shows activity every now and then for a fraction of a second.
-
In the BIOS, under the Advanced Settings tab, there should be a setting in "Advanced Chipset Control" for "Bluetooth Power Setting". You can 'enable' this so that the Bluetooth module will resume on wakeup or reboot. If that doesn't work you may need to power your Bluetooth peripherals off and then on. And check your Windows power options for PCI power management settings. Finally, check the Intel Download Center for newer drivers.
I don't own the W110ER, but had a P150HM and the default for Bluetooth power is 'disabled' in the BIOS. But check you power management settings too. -
I noticed there is a serious gap between heatsink and CPU when i tried to put the thinnest compound layer i could. After reseating my CPU my temps went to 96C. I repasted using dot method and my temps went to 90C. So, would it be possible to add a copper shim to insure better contact pressure ? If so, how to measure the gap? thanks
-
I have the CMO1114. It's a very good screen. Only downside: Mine has a scratch behind tha glass on the panel :C
Coming from M11x my screen is the same.
It seems like almost all 11 inch notebooks suffer from fluctiative screen quality.
Well first we need to know which panel you have. If you have an AUO in your M11x and an AUO in your W110ER you will be disappointed again.
-
No such problem in my case.
Why the gap? - the 4 screws should press the heatsink against the cpu... -
So during a fresh install, should we install Clevo's drivers or the Beta drivers?
-
So XoticPC's newest review, the W110ER just came up.....

Hey all,
I received my Chaos 1212 from Mythlogic last week and although I haven't fully tested it out I am extremely pleased so far. The SSD completes boot to the desktop in about 15 seconds. The matte option screen is gorgeous and a great improvement over my G73J. Battery life on the G73 was sub-45 minutes so this is a HUGE improvement. As a matter of note, the W110ER is almost half the size of the G73J and it runs BF3 on Ultra without any hiccups.
Thanks again to the community, both hobbyists and resellers, who make it possible for us 30 and 40-something gamers to play anywhere our jobs take us.
Matt

Hey guys, maybe I'm spoiled a bit, but I'm having a hard time reconciling the time to reboot with the time to recover from hibernate. I have a Seagate momentus XT 750GB. Generally, the boot times are quite acceptable - I estimate it ranges between 20 to 30 seconds maximum. However, it takes up to a minute to recover from hibernate. Is this a common experience - that it takes far longer to recover from hibernate than to boot from fresh? Can anyone tell me why that would be so?
-
Yeah that's a different issue. If the bluetooth is on and active and I sleep the machine, it won't work after being woken up again. I've plugged in another bluetooth dongle and that works fine after resuming from sleep, so it's definitely the onboard bluetooth. Unfortunately there aren't any new drivers.
-
Because waking from hibernate is both starting the system up fresh, then resuming the saved state image. It's two steps instead of just one.
That said I have a SSD in mine and I was stunned the first time I booted it up, it was at the Windows 7 desktop in fifteen seconds from cold boot. Hibernate is about ~30 seconds, though I rarely use hibernate so it's not a huge deal for me. -
Can someone tell me if there is an app or an easy way to tell if all the drivers/software/bios/gpu is up-to-date for my brand/version? I have the XOTICPC/Sager branded NP6110. I know my Alienware has a PC advisor that alerts me whenever a newer driver or software version is available.
*Update - I found the list of drivers on Sager's site with dates - so the latest ones were May 15, so I think my drivers should be up-to-date since they shipped the disc with drivers in June.
Is there another place someone could recommend to download wallpapers for this screen resolution? Does Xoticpc or Sager provide free wallpaper downloads - I did not see any listed. -
Got the same exact specs
Really glad I got the matte screen, gotta give props to Mythologic they did a great job building this thing and it has run flawlessly.
Someone mention wallpapers :

I think I got a lemon. Mine shut itself off a few times now. And has recently been locking up randomly. And this is just me surfing the web. At least I am still within the 30 day return window. A little disappointed but it happens. I even tried emailing xoticpc on Friday about my issues, still have not heard back. Not a good experience for me. Good luck to everyone else!

My best advice is use google image search for a theme or item you want, then refine the image size you are looking for to 1366x768 in the sidebar. Any 16:9 resolution above that would look fine too (1600x900, 1920x1080, etc). That is what I do
