So you would suggest to opt for the " Super Clear Ultra Bright screen and pop in a SSD in lieu of SATA drive?

Leave the RAM and CPU at defaults.

Why the BIOS fascism? Too many RMAs?
On Mysn.de you can download the W110ER latest BIOS.

@all: I am having an issue with the USB 3.0. I cannot connect my WD 3.0 drive. When I plug it in, nothing happens. When I uninstall the Intel eXpensible USB 3.0 Driver it works but not with full speed and I also have an unknown device showing up in the device manger. Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?

If that screen existed, yes, but since it's not, your best bet may be the mat screen, or put your money on something else :)
And YES, the ssd will provide a much better user experience over any high-end cpu you could fit in there. Unless you have very specific needs, your money should go there in the first place !

Thanks ! Here's the link, model is XMG A102.

    Hello there,

I am also one of the proud owners of w110er. Bought it from Turkish Monster reseller and boy am I happy! This little machine packs so much power that it melts the granite wall and does not even sweat!

Have to admit I was quite anxious about heat and keyboard. And my worries were empty that I saw. The keyboard is very good (and comfy for my hands and mark my words I am a coder and I use keyboard mainly) and the heat... well loading up Supreme Commander Forged Alliance in all of its glory do made me see 80 degrees on the coretemp but the machine feels cold. Kudos to Clevo for making such an impressively effective cooling system. If you are in doubt whether buying it or not, don't. You won't be disappointed.

Does these numbers look fine to you? I just got the laptop 2 days ago, applied IC Diamond compound 3 times. First time I had idle temps of 65  then reapplied got high 50s. Third time, I have idles in high 40s to low 50s.

Those temps are perfectly ideal for a Quad CPU, I noticed you did not install Clevo's control-center, it has better power management than windows default settings.

I only installed 2 drivers because I was still using my 500GB HD.
Just got my Vertex 4 SSD installed on my laptop, I was able to grab it for $190 - 256GB version.

The ISCT driver will not install, it says hardware mismatch or not found. something along those lines. Anyone else getting this problem?

    Here: Downloads | Tech|Inferno

Make sure to get 5.00 beta 3 because 4.xx versions don't work with Ivy Bridge. It won't help with battery life though because it will under clock but not undervolt.

BTW, the hotkey software keeps the GT650 on 3D clocks and from droping back to 135Mhz when set to performance mode, maybe not the NVIDIA driver or vBIOS after all.

Hello everyone! I just ordered a Sager NP6110 from XoticPC. Here are the specs:

    • Battery Smart Li-ion Battery (6-Cell)
    • Sound Card Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio
    • Camera Built in 1.3Megapixel Camera
    • Wireless Network Sager - Intel® Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth™ 4.0
    • Memory Card Reader Internal 9-in-1 Card Reader (MMC/RSMMC/SD/Mini SD/SDHC/SDXC/MS/MS Pro/MS Duo)
    • Primary Hard Drive 500gb (w/ 4GB SSD Memory) Seagate XT 7200RPM NCQ Hybrid (Serial-ATA II 300 - 32MB Cache)
    • Graphics Video Card nVidia GT 650M 2048MB PCI-Express GDDR3 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology
    • Ram 8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)
    • Thermal Compound IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU
    • Processor Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP)
    • Display 11.6" HD "Glare Type" Super Clear Bright Glossy Screen (1366x768)

Now, if waiting for this to ship doesn't kill me, I'd like to upgrade the memory to Kingston HyperX when it comes in. I found this at Newegg. Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory, to be precise.

Is that right? Compatible, I mean? Is it worth the investment?

[edit] Definitely get 2070. Just note it will only work with nVidia 30x.xx driver or above, doesn't work on stock.

Not sure why, but my windows 7 (64bit) install kept reporting a 5.9 WEI for my SSD and applications like explorer, notepad, relatively small applications take up to 5 seconds to start which I find completely ridiculous.

I did get the WEI to report a 7.9 my speeds are 400 read and 300 write in MB/s

I don't see what is slowing my system down that it delays so much to open a stupid 400kb application on a quad core cpu, and a very fast ssd.

Kinda pissing me off a bit though, things open a lot slower than my other system when it was using this same drive.

Do i have the wrong ahci driver? This really annoys me how opening any application, even getting the right click menus is a 5 second delay every time. Copying files is fast as ever though.

EDIT: It seems the cause was my nvidia beta driver which was causing things to load considerably slower. Attempting WHQL driver.
If it does the same thing, this is really going to me off.

My access times are 0.1ms read and write

I Just received my Clevo from Malibal Today :). Lovin the Matte screen!! I have been following this thread since the release of the W110er and have found it EXTREMELY Helpful. Props to HTWingnut and Prema!

My only question is what do you think the best drivers to use on the clevo are? Couldn't find much by googling :(

Have just ordered my W110ER from Mythlogic after shopping for more than a week. Since this is my first powerful pc I'm buying for myself in the last 10(!) years, I forced myself to search interwebs through and through for the best solution.

Just like Z1nG, have to say that this Thread has been extremely useful and was one of the main reasons why I decided to go with W101ER. Respect to Prema, HTWingnut, Clevernerd, Megacharge and others who are so actively involved in tinkering and enhancing this little beast and keeping this community so alive.

As for why I chose Mythlogic - I've considered Malibal, XoticPc, AvaDirect, actual Sager direct and even iBuyPower, but Mythlogic seemed to be the most "personal" of them all. I really liked the fact that they are not simply a Sager reseller, but build their Clevos themselves in store. Also the description of how they build their laptops and Burn them in for 3 days sounded trustworthy to me... https://www.mythlogic.com/mythlogic-difference.php

They offer a 45 day free back and forth shipping in case something is wrong with computer, which was unique among others. Pricewise - it went almost dollar for dollar with AVADirect, only AVA offers a cheaper No Dead Pixel guarantee instead of free 45 day Warranty shipping.

And unlike one upsettingly inadequate customer service person at Xotic, Mythlogic's guys were very useful, helped me get the price down, even advising to drop a Hybrid drive due to being "not worth the loot" and offering a $40 off discount... (SSD was out of question for me).

BTW According to two of their guys Hybrid HDDs tend to have more problems and fails than SSD and HDD, especially Seagate Momentus 500GB model (it's also sold on Amazon at almost 50% off) Amazon.com: Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST95005620AS: Electronics

Hopefully my ramblings above might prove useful for someone looking to purchase this laptop, but having a hard time deciding which store to go with.

Of course I won't receive my order for a while, but I'll make sure to update my experience with Mythlogic, when it finally gets here.

Also bump for Steam sale: Welcome to Steam

Welcome to NBR! I suggest go for Crucial M4 256GB or Samsung SSD's with sand-force controller, you pay 1x time more than a 512GB Momentus-XT but performance is 5-6x times better.

These are the Optimus issues that come with the Beta Drivers. Whenever a new element is opened (window, application, or even just context menu) the driver activates the 650 whilst the CPU turbo becomes deactivated. After a few seconds everything is back to normal.

Thanks for the advice. But I ended up getting a regular 750 GB 7200 rpm HDD, since decent sized SSD's (including your suggestion) were above my budget at the moment and I will burn through anything less than 128GB with video editing and sound engineering in a month.

In any case I consider that installing an SSD drive will be a possible future upgrade a year or so down the road as well as increasing my base 6GB of ram. This way I know I will get additional satisfaction from making my laptop faster and better even months after purchasing it, something usually reserved only for desktops.

regular 750GB or a hybrid (8gb ssd) Momentus XT? the latter would be worth the upgrade over a regular hdd (I have the 500GB XT as a secondary drive and, even though it's last gen, it's better than the non-hybrid equivalent)

I got the regular non-hybrid. Going with a hybrid was my original plan, but Mythologic wouldn't offer the 500GB XT version. When I asked the guy in chat why was the case - he said that 500GB had a high fail rate so they'd removed them from the website. And then the other guy, also at Mythlogic, talked me out of getting a 750GB hybrid, saying that it was also somewhat risky and that the speed improvements were not worth the extra money and risk. Which is a pity, since I was excited to experience faster boot times etc with a hybrid.

BTW also on AVADirect the 500GB XT Hybrid drive has a lower price than even the 320 GB version for some reason. I hope yours works well, but make sure to back it up often.

I had a tight budget too, but not buying a SSD is not an option for w110er as mechanical HDD bottle necks your system. I think you can buy an external HDD with USB 3.0 support for more space + 128GB SSD to keep the OS and main stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch-Solid-State-CT128M4SSD2/dp/B004W2JKZI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1342259019&sr=1-1&keywords=m4+128gb

True to some extend. I had two 500GB XTs and one 750GB XT. The oldest one is working ever since they first came out.
There was a slightly high incompability chance with the initial firmware especially for Mac users, which could even damage the device as some of its features were addressed the wrong way.
However now on firmware SD28 everything is perfect. (Toshiba for instance got rid of the problems by installing an own firmware on the XTs (TD25), which disabled almost all of the features of the HDD. It took me lots of research and time to get the originial FW back on it. )
Both XTs maginficently speed up your machine. Boot up time could only be faster with a quick SSD. Also don't forget, that the HDD is a further developed Momentus 7200.4, which is one of the fastes HDDs for notebooks. So it's real quick even without the SSD part.

Seems like the guys at Mythologic have a negative preconception of these drives, which I totally cannot understand.

Nice. It's such a great game. Even though I am somewhat annoyed by the cautionary messages it spreads every now and then. ;)
How do you do that? When I started 2070 with the stock driver (295.93) everything was very dark. The whole game was greyish and black. I found this to be a comon problem with Kepler cards and the 29x.xx drivers. The only workaround (except for a 30x.xx driver) is to start the game in DX9 Mode.

I did not change anything nor any optimization, just ran the game and there was no cautionary message. It works fine on DX11 with no problem (driver v295.93).

Here is a shot from the game

That are really good temps, about 30 degrees cooler than my i7 3520M, the best idle temps i get are around 52 to 56 C and 85c while gaming, but the lappy is propped up with the notepal U1,i don't know what to think, i did many repastes with the same temps...

I guess your room's temperature is higher than mine (20-21c). Also your CPU has a higher base clock than i5 3360m. I think for a better comparison you should compare your i7 with the same model to see the difference. Overall 50~ is considered cool and there is nothing to worry about it. Just enjoy your Lappy and stop experimenting with the poor thing :)

Your game is dark too. So it is really a bug with Kepler. The water should be deep blue and not black.
    Here's an example picture.

lol true , I switched to DX9 and now its bright. I noticed while in DX11, changing Gamma in game settings does not have any effect.

I guess DX11 have different Gamma/Brightness settings because I found DX9 games are brighter generally.

Well, the new driver will definitely fix it, as even the Betas do. (Also there will be a large perfomance increase.) If you can live with DX9 until nVida finally releases a driver after four month, you won't have to mess around with the Betas.

Can someone tell me if I'm using Throttlestop right? I just turn it on, then, I turn it on on the bottom right? It doesn't feel any different.
