I ordered one from both my supplier in China and laptopscreen.
The one from laptop screen came damaged.... Completely dead and the screen was zigzags....
-
That's not good... I hope mine isn't the same :S
Was it the right screen, that's what I would like to know. -
Yes and also did you get a refund or an exchange?
-
Full refund because they wont be getting stock of these panels for another few months.
Yup it is the right screen as long as you order a screen with that label code it is all made by LG. -
Okay then. I just really hope mine isn't broken :/ I should've gotten the better delivery as well, maybe they might've packaged it better. I just chose FedEx economy.
Now, put the screen in the laptop and show us all some pictures
-
Waiting on the extension cable still.. I haven't purchased it yet
most of the suppliers I see sell it for quite expensive.
-
Can't wait to hear from you guys, when the screens are inserted. Hope the reaction time will be sufficient for games.
BTW. Some reasonable person is selling the screens on eBay for only $800. -
I need me that extension cable too... I'll have a look now I'm in HK airport. My personal carrier pigeon says the screen looks ok which sounds good
-
Wow...personal Carrier Pigeon. Every time I order stuff from China, its strapped to the slowest donkey or jackass. Remember to feed the pigeon.
Good luck. I hope your screen is perfect. I on the other hand have to wait for laptopscreens to have it in stock to buy. I have the funds now but OOS. -
Did you get one yet? This site seems to have them for a reasonable price. Especially if you have a source in china.
-
Anyone in EU looking to sell their w110er? If so, hit me a PM please, thanks.
-
Well it was ordered direct from laptopscreen but sent to another address (a friend) and he checked the screen for me. He said it looked fine, but I'm not 100 yet. Going to have a look at the panel when I receive it and see where to go from there.
-
My panel from laptop screen looked perfect, no issues at all but when I plugged it in it was cracked.
-
Hmmm. Have you got it sorted out yet, the refund or whatever?
-
Are these machines still availible to buy new? Or is it eBay time?
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
You might still be able to find one from a system builder but other than that, it's Ebay Time! -
Mysn.de still sells them.
-
Scan.co.uk still sell a barebones with 90 watt psu.
-
PWNPCS, too. They are in London:
Clevo W110ER 11.6" Ultra Portable High Performance Gaming Laptop | PWN PCS -
Yup they were prompt about the refund.
I will post a picture on how the screen looked while testing on my laptop. -
Well, mine is here.
Looks perfect outside the packaging, just hope it hasn't suffered the same fate as yours. Good to know after sales service is top notch. Was it difficult to get the laptop apart?
Has anyone found an extension yet either? I'm surprised no one has installed the screen by now XD
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...turer-compatible-N00005/502105_558717668.html
After a few minutes of looking I found this.
Same model as that other one. Worth the plunge? It's like £5-6. Jesus though, 15 day delivery. -
I've joined the owners club
I could do with some help though, I've been trying to install an updated driver for my Intel HD 4000 since the one Clevo provides is a year old, but I'm having trouble installing the official ones from Intel (checked Clevo's website btw and those drivers are older than Intel's provided ones).
During installation a popup appears saying that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software (i7 3632qm, 14GB RAM free, 170GB disk space so it's fine). I then tried to install via device manager by finding igdlh64.INF per Intel's instructions, it turns out that file is missing. It's there in the Clevo drivers but not Intel's own.
Thoughts and advice? -
Hi mate, I installed these ones on mine when I first got it.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldId=22840
I have the same CPU as you so should be fine, HD4000
Not sure if it makes a difference but I install the Intel ones first then the Nvidia drivers. -
Thanks! I downloaded the 64bit version of that driver which successfully installed. It seems odd that when you're looking for drivers for the 4000 itself Intel give you some other older drivers.
-
I'm new to the owner's club too:thumbsup:
Happened to me when I was re-installing the drivers, turned out that the driver I found was the 32bit version, found and installed the 64bit version driver and it installed correctly. -
I think I found the extension cables we need.
Extension
Extension 2
40 pin extension. I think we might just have to wrap it around and tape it.
Any one have any info on these? -
Sorry guys I have yet to update you guys.
I have been busy lately with some work! I will contact you guys back! Sorry! -
I have no info but the link I posted at the top is still there.
Aliexpress.com : Buy Free Shipping,LED Screen /Screen Wire Transfer Interfaces,100% manufacturer compatible,N00005 from Reliable LED Screen Converter Cable suppliers on Monster Sundry Goods Ltd.
Not sure if it's the right one or not and the delivery time is nothing short of insane. The specs on this one look right. Can't remember how I sourced that one specifically now.
That's cool, I haven't even taken the laptop apart to check the screen yet, I really should. I've been messing with 2K monitors for the last week. My U2713HM had multiple defects so I sent it back to Amazon, couldn't be arsed to faff with getting multiple duds so just bought an LG 27EA83 and had done with it. Great monitor but doesn't want to work with devices such as the PS3/Xbox 360 over HDMI. It's probably some funny issue at LG's end in terms of firmware (Although support is useless and keep telling me to do things that are completely idiotic), I can't be bothered to send it back and have 2 years to do so. I'm hoping eventually I'll find out through the support site what the issue is. Works flawlessly with my desktop and indeed any other computer so I'm not overly bothered. -
I just got back from a trip out in the North Sea. Lots of flight time in a Sikorsky S-92 with baggage hell going through Montreal. During job I noticed screen was getting very loose with what appeared the screen hinges rotating or moving forward as well.
I searched but only found other posters looking for answers, so, teardown time.
Screen side was all tight. Flipping notebook over I removed bottom plate, heat pipes for first time ever re-paste on this machine. At this point I noticed almost every screw were barely finger tight around whole base. Tightening all screws down, including the back two under the screen hinges, fixed all screen wobble.
Smacking myself for not checking these first; all the screws had the blue lock tight applied.
I had left over ICD7 so applied this, my old copper blocks and a strip of Aluminum silver duct tape over the gap between the fan and heat pipes. All temps were the same as stock, other than Prima’s UV mod. My idle is around 44-46C with high of 78-80C using Handbreak for a 16 minute video encode. So, all of the above could have been skipped, but no fun in that.
@ 2.6% wear, Battery Bar now reports a max of 3 hours on my 10 month old battery. When first installed, Battery Bar reported 4:01 hours, fwiw. I never game on battery.

Pics or it didn't happen ;D Seriously though I hope supply of these things is decent so this is something we can all do
Ok there are pics in that thread, though they focus on viewing angles more than picture quality. Apparently this display is from an HP X2 (though some places list it as an X221 which iirc doesn't exist), brightness and contrast ratio are solid improvements for sure. Looks like these panels aren't too rare either, just a shame about mounting the matte display, I'd hope that matte display can still be held securely in place by double sided tape. Any advice on that LVDS extension cable you mentioned like sources, length? 40 pin to 40 pin should be ok from the sounds of it. -
heya guys, possibly a source for the screen
https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/hp-compaq/ENVY~X2~11-G000~SERIES/ -
Point is there are loads of sources, you can even get them off ebay, this doesn't appear to be a rare panel. I'm more worried about the extension cable tbh
-
No, the point is there are loads of bad sources! The descriptions are non existence, users received bad, broken screens then vendor unable to replace. Prema ordered correct screen but was sent wrong screen for bracket config, but, was able to find the extension needed.
At least Marksman's link showed one of the best screen shots compared to other I've seen. When the lcd dust settles, maybe we can make better decision's on who and where to best order from?
cheers -
Uh, what screenshots? There's one for a possibly generic screen there, the model numbers have been removed in the images. It doesn't even list the model number, just some promising details. I've been looking at ebay again to compare and I swear I was getting better results when I first looked, but now I'm seeing ones with the wrong model number, wrong intended laptop, wrong coating... haven't found anyone who gets it spot on yet. I guess we'll just have to order one from each supplier until one gets it right
-
I actually searched replacement screens for the hp envy x2. I think laptopscreen. Com is reliable
-
The LP116WH4 SLN 1 is the glossy version and can directly be screwed in, while the LP116WH4 SLN 2 is the matte model and needs the screw mounts to be cut off and to be fixed in place with thick double sided tape...
-
FYI...
There is an SLN2 on eBay. I asked the seller about the SLN1, but it is "not in stock at this time". They will include the LVDS extension cable at no charge if asked. -
The SLN2 is the one that has to be mounted with double sided tape. Did the seller ever say if the LP116WH4 SLN1 would be in stock in the future? Including the LVDS cable is nice.
There must not be any profit in these screens for the sellers. I'm sure many have been asked about the W110ER, I've had no replies from two, concerning screens and cables needed. I guess that anything less than a thousand quick sales are just not worth it.
Here's a picture Prima posted from panelook;

One seller has 360 pieces but 10 are minimal order from past posts. -
Good evening, im a new user of this small monster portable gaming rig. I just want to know, does this gaming laptop really has a matte screen? While googling, I found out that there are these what they call secrets on how to make the matte screen a glossy one. Thats basically, taking the bezel of the lcd frame part and the screen actually do have like a matte screen protector or film. Can somebody confirm this?
Also, what i do have the i5-3230m variant and 1TB hdd capacity, one question... Everytime my laptop loads from scratch, what i can see from the logo in the bios is like the plasma orb, is this normal? Can we do something about that like change the boot logo in bios setup? I will really appreciate if somebody will post a tut for those things i've mentioned and also some tweaks on how to maximize the true power of this small ivy monster.
Kudos in advance to all of you guys, im hoping that im welcome here... still a newbie and has lots of room for new facts/info and learning
-
@fuutah
Are you using Prema's bios mod? If so then you can search through these post where he answered why, iirc it had something to do with new bios screen format.
Sorry to put the old "read through the post" stuff on you but you really should. Lots of nuggets buried among questions like yours. As for the screen, I read that too but I think that question came up as well. Mine was/is glossy. There IS a matte version offered but not sure if it is just a screen over glossy. Two different part numbers.
Use Google to search this thread, there is also a second W110er thread by HTWingnut that has a lot of info in it. Enjoy! -
@hydra
Thanks for that one, though one question. Where can you or I guys checked the part number to check if it is really a matte screen or just like a matte screen protector placed over the glossy screen. I also had googled and saw the other thread made by wingnut though preferred to first post here since this is the official thread right? Where to check the part number? And also, do we have a link here or guide how to open the bezel of screen?
Oh, by the way what is your bios logo? How does it look like? Mine is like plasma field, like the crystal ball if you know what i mean. That appears during the "press f2" for setup and f12 for boot options. geez i dont want that
-
sorry for the double post
-
Yo.
So, finally got around to sticking the screen in a W110ER and after some fiddling, got it in there. Sadly, it isn't working properly. I've got a horribly discoloured screen. I have a feeling this is something to do with 18/24-bit output? The screen looks like this from BIOS right up to Windows. Interestingly, I took the screen out while Windows was still running and put the other one in (M116NWR1) and it displayed a similar thing until I restarted it and it went back to normal.
To my knowledge, this isn't an issue with the screen itself, but I could be wrong. Any ideas people? A quick reply would be lovely. I haven't heard anyone speak of an issue like this as of yet. -
I'm waiting for my adapter still. My other panel came in the mail!
I will try and let you know Razre. -
You are using a very old version of the Mod, please update...
-
No ideas anybody? Really intrigued to know what the hell the issue is up there.
-
What BIOS version are you using? The v3 Mod? Only that one has the latest Intel VGA BIOS to communicate with the screen...
-
So I simply need to upgrade to the latest BIOS? If so, great, will do it ASAP.
Actually, thinking about it, how the hell do I tell what BIOS I'm on? I /think/ I may be on v3. But I think V3 has a different BIOS boot screen? The current one I have is the big funny orb, it hasn't changed as has been mentioned. I'm on some sort of UOV BIOS, that's all I know.
EDIT:
Nvm, flashed, on the new BIOS ^^ Loving your new boot screen btw.
EDIT 2:
Still not working. Exact same issue as before with the new BIOS. Really confused here - wondering if there's something wrong with the screen, but I'm not sure what would cause this issue - Whatever it's doing then affects the old screen when I plug it back in.
Could it be something to do with the orientation of the connector..? The connector has a load of tape on it and because the connector has to go upside down on this screen that puts a lot of stuff underneath the connector...
EDIT 3: Even having tried wiggling it around, no avail. Connected my desktop monitor, outputs to that with no issue. -
Not that it is a good thing to do,, but did you try plugging the old one in first and the hot swapping it?
