I will disable overclocking in the bios and run bone stock. I have a question temps are going to get high mid 80c to low 90s in some cases is this acceptable while gaming ?

That's acceptable for these testing conditions. Your system will most likely throttle due to the heat then clock back up and adjust on the fly based on thermal conditions. The idea here is to rule out your undervolt or any other changes as the culprit then proceed from there.sydneyblue likes this. -

What's the SSD temps? One user did report that and SSD getting to its crit point caused shutdowns until they placed a beefer heatsink on it.

I played a good session laxt night with no crash. I dont think im out of the woods yet but i think we can rule out thermal pads. Also temps on the CPU were not terrible. It switches between 3.8 and 4.7 while fps was highLast edited: Nov 24, 2021electrosoft likes this.

You can run a free program called Crystaldiskinfo which will show you your temps. PCiE Gen 4.0x NVME drives do run considerably hotter than their gen 3.0x counterparts.sydneyblue likes this.

You right crystal disk works great. I was looking into replacement heatsink for these drives like a low profile heaksink not sure if it will fit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089RBKH31/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=A36DOQ8QSJXCYP&psc=1
If it doesnt fit could just use on PS5 xD -

If it ends up being the undervolt and you don't want throttling you can either play with a less aggressive undervolt and/or lock your clocks a little lower to 4.5 all core for consistency.
My main issue would be why are you throttling with a 10700k? I run a 10900k in an SM and have zero throttling even when running CB23 and that's at full 4.9 all cores but I did get back under the hood and fix a lot of issues and fine tune everything but still. Do a CB23 run with HWmonitor running and see how much watts and Vcore it is pulling max under load. Might just be a hot and heavy chip.
Make sure to leave HWinfo running when running and you can check your SSD temps. CrystalDiskMark will definitely push your m.2's and show you if they overheat. It is how I found the culprit for my problems with my old P870TM1 when Samsung 970 Pro's were hitting 90's in there after everything heated up. Heatsinks definitely help if the small heatsink shield isn't getting the job done as is now. -
The 980 Pro that is running PCIe 4.0 is running ~10C hotter than the other one running in a PCIe 3.0 slot.94sportsedan likes this.

Update from HIDevolution
I just got an email stating that v1.07.04 is outdated and they have v1.07.06 if I want it.
They want to have a "session" to do the install.
1. Will they refuse to do this when they see that I am running the XMG BIOS?
2. Since this is not a complicated task, should I get them to just send me the update so that I can apply it myself?
3. How do I get a copy of the original BIOS to install before we do our "session"? -
Any my 980 Pro running the same temperature as my 970 Evo
@rtrainer
I will have a look into the bios. Maybe we can change the name from a stock 1.07.04 to 1.07.04HID. To remove the XMG entries in the bios, i have posted a script. -
I was only able to run somewhat stable at -80mv, if I set it to anything over, I get unexpected poweroff when running cinebench (If I set over -150mv I would just get immediate shutdown at idle (no load) even without cinebench running). It was extremely bad (like unexpected poweroff at almost anything other then stock in Windows 11 so I downgraded to Windows 10).
Seems all is ok now, but I'm having a super annoying "crackling" sound happening through my headphones (audio jack not USB) and laptop system speakers when there is audio coming out (when there is no sound there is no crackling). It comes and goes on it's own. No idea what is causing that but it's extremely frustrating. Has anyone ever had this happen? I also noticed during Windows 10 install (clean install from boot USB) that my mouse would sometimes cut out, is it possible there is some kind of electrical issue with my motherboard to cause this, anyone ever experienced anything like this with their x170km ? -
I need to get in on this "session" if there are looking to update bios i am in 100%. As long as there was no damage they should be ok with it
-
When i was at 4.2 no undervolt i got a blue screen few weeks ago.

I've done this process before with HID and my old P870TM and it is relatively straight forward and harmless. It will also be the procedure used when (if?) the Prema BIOS is released.
You set up an appointment and then they call. While you're on the phone they remote into your system and install the BIOS while telling you what to expect step by step by step.
HID and a few other shops don't do BIOS downloads for end user installs. They do them remotely for security reasons, to eliminate any end user issues and to make sure their customized BIOSes aren't re-distributed like XMG. -

Then lets see if you crash with zero CPU settings applied even underclocking.Papusan and sydneyblue like this. -
Figured this is the process and the reason. Just concerned that they will refuse if they see another BIOS.
-
They flat out told me there is no new bios LOL
-
Im curious is your 10900k Delidded ? Was thinking about doing for mine and if it makes a difference ?

They told me the same thing. I then pointed them to this thread.Papusan likes this.

Update From HID The new bios just dropped today LOL!!! Im setting my appointment for monday
-
Yea im keeping fingers crossed that its a BIO stabilty issue with OC enabled like others have shared becuase we can fix that with updating the bios which im doing on Monday with Juan From HID. I have had 2 gaming sessions playing Vanguard and both sessions had no crashing which is positive and promising but these things you never know there is so many variable things that could be wrong. It seems Patients is key
-
The OC shutdown problem is not fixed with BIOS 1.07.06.
XMG writes something about the problem. They know it, but they cant fix it.
I my case: i had no crashes with BIOS 1.07.07 an active OC.
Most time, the shutdown came with no or low load. -

Can explain why sometimes when i leave my notebook on it automatically shuts itself off ? There is no shut down unexpected in event viewer. Everything on the desktop was as i left it but it books up normal not from a sleep mode ?
Doesn’t happen all the time but if I have chrome open watching a video and I fall asleep I wake up and my notebook is off. It happened twice last night both times was on ESPN.com I don’t think the screen saver mode is engagingLast edited: Nov 26, 2021 -
Yeah, Windows 11 is still slower compared to Windows 10... I hope Microsoft will fix it soon...
But i like Windows 11
I use it also on my old Dell Precision M6600 with i7-2960XM without any problems. -
Hmm, so it seems I'm not the only one with this problem. After the unexpected shutdown I have to remove battery and insert it back to get it running again.sydneyblue likes this.
-
It happened to me but i had overclocking enabled in the BIOS which from what i understand makes the notebook unstable. I have since not had a shutdown with playing 3 gaming sessions with no shutdown. Now my laptop is shuting down by itself with no error in event viewer.
-
Yes, same to me too, just instant power off and no logs. XMG told me to install windows, because they thought it could be a driver issue on Ubuntu, but I am guessing you are using Windows since you are talking about event viewer. Also this shutdowns are completely random, sometimes they happen after 10 days on, sometimes 3 times per day and not on high loads.

I think the only way you could find out is using HWinfo and start logging if there is a set time or pattern to when it shutdown hwinfo might pick up what is causing it.
Also you still on 1.07.04 BIOS i knew you was talking about getting HID to update it, Also how many ram sticks you got in your system? if its 4 then you need to use GEAR 2 mode which can only be done if HID has asked Clevo to add the option to the BIOS screen. Its what i pushed for with PCS.sydneyblue likes this. -
I onlty have 2 sticks under the back cover . I am scheduled to do the BIOS update on monday from what i understand its 1.07.06 HID
-
Thats really weird because when i was shutdown in Game would always get a error in Event Viewer saying the system didnt power off correctly. These other ones seem like it just wants to go to sleep
-
What bios are you on ?
-
What do think think the shutting down while idle is ? Both times I had ESPN open on chrome started back up and was as I left it
-
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Not sure very much doubt the ESPN stream would max clock and power a RTX 3080. Use HWInfo start it loggin and then after shutdown look at the log with GenericLogViewer that might help point where to look.
-
I Will do that but what confuses me is there is no record in event viewer like when I was shutting down playing vanguard there was a unexpected power off error
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Any kind of non valid shutdown should trigger a non clean shutdown event. Maybe setup a camera and record the machine and see what exactly it does?

That’s a good idea honestly unfortunately I don’t have another device to unless I set my phone to just record
-

That works
or an old phone.

I updated to the latest bios 1.07.07 and EC 1.07.04 yesterday, but still had one shutdown after, so issue wasn't fixed with the update...
-
Did you reset BIOS to default after update?
-
Are you running with OC enabled in the bios ?
-
I got a 9 hour video of some football and my screen saver lol no crash
Correction i thought i had the video looks like it only recorded 50 seconds Ffs lol
Wait a minute I do have the 9 hour video lolLast edited: Nov 27, 2021
