I also believe that the price for the now old model X170SM should be significantly reduced, but for some reason this does not happen and it turns out that X170SM are sometimes sold more expensive than the new X170KM))))

Some interesting benches with 11900k and 10900k with the cryo cooler (towards the end)

None of this surprised me. Exactly what I predicted a long time now. And forget use the Cry cooler in the X170 :D Intel....

A coming official Microcode update will help, but not save them from the falit.

    Edit.
And I'm not so sure their coming 10nm Cpus with the phone cores (big.Little) will help them on the way try be on top of the performance crown. Maybe they will win in idle speed power consumption. Thats better than nothing? o_O We will see when the winter 2021/22 coming.

So from what I've read the 11900k compared to 10900k has:
    - increased single core performance
    - decreased multi core performance
    - higher tempetatures
    - higher power consumption

That means in summary you are better off with an 10900K ...

I modded it myself lol thats what I did. The lcd is blacklisted for gsync I bought the wrong version required for gsync. I couldn't return as I got it for only 59 bucks off a friend of mine in China. Lcd has hz rating of 60 or 300 nothing in between btw

Yes everyone my laptop is for sale on ebay for 2200 total. No cpu or os installed. I'm strapped for cash and a decision had to be made.

Since your known here I wouldn't mind shipping to you pm the address and I'll calculate the difference. I actually wanna make at least 2100 from the sale I put 200 for shipping do to insurance signature confirmation. I bought this from a vendor in Cali and it costed me 156 bucks to get shipped to me fully insured. I know do to ebay cost its not gonna make that

We have the zTecpc zT-X170SM-G with the Custom Prema BIOS available.

Unfortunately, we only ship to USA and Canada. Most of our international customers use a forwarder in the USA, to which we will ship Ground for free (except to Hawaii & Alaska).

Searching for a forwarder in a state for which sales tax is not collected is wise (* means 3 business days or less in-transit time):
    Arizona *
    Arkansas
    Delaware
    Kansas
    Missouri
    Montana *
    New Mexico
    New Hampshire
    North Dakota *
    Oregon *
    Rhode Island
    South Dakota
Just check the forwarders reputation...some are better than others... Due diligence FTW.

For international transactions Bank Wire Transfer (T.T.) is the only acceptable form of payment, received prior to shipment. We offer a 2.5% discount for payment by Bank Wire Transfer (T.T.).

Please, don't shoot the messenger, but we just got this, regarding the new KM:
"Due to the shortage on various components including display panels, GPUs, Intel chips, audio chips, Wi-Fi, AC Adapters, and etc., all orders have been delayed and postponed by Clevo without an estimated ship date."

Worse, there are no RTX 30x0 GPUs and heatsinks available to upgrade the SM.

FWIW, we still have SM's available, with delidded and cherry-picked binned Intel® 10th Generation Comet Lake i9-10900Ks, Custom Prema BIOS, @Mr. Fox Thermal Design (aided by @jc_denton & @Papusan), and DDR4/3200MHz w/ XMP Profile @ ≯ CL16 RAM.

I'd gladly purchase one of your delidded cherry picked processors for my x170sm ( as the 2080s should still be good enough not to warrant an upgrade) , but i'm afraid I come from NoPremaLand, so I'd have to find one around the old continent

Wow. Thanks for the heads up Donald@ztecpc. I was just getting ready to place my order and configuring the specs I want. I really wanted the RTX 3080 with 16GB Vram and 10900K. the RTX 2080 SUPER is cool but i like Gsync. Oh well I guess I can wait a lil longer. Dunno how long but I will try. LOL.

To all interested HIDevolution has already started shipping new laptop with 3080 165W and i9-10900k: https://www.hidevolution.com/evoc-h...z-i5-10600k-i7-10700k-i9-10900k-rtx-3080.html . They also make delidding and put thermal grizzly conductonaut between CPU Die and IHS. So I hope for some good temperatures and OC window.
I already ordered mine like 4 weeks ago. It should be mine in next 2-3 weeks. I will try to post some benchmarks after I get it.

The bin quality for 10850K is generally lower and the need for elevated voltage makes them not an ideal option in a laptop or air-cooled desktop.

The availability of 10900K seems pretty good right now. I do not have any difficulty finding them for sale online at the moment, and the price is not inflated.

Silicon shortages; hyper inflation and rocketing interest rates. Look at MSI. Economic theory - reduce supply, increase profits by raising prices.

Yes, as long as it can run at an equivalent undervolt at stock. If it cannot, the performance may be the same even though the thermals are not as good. In all other respects that is totally correct.

Very, very true. But, they certainly don't mind whining and complaining, LOL. Buy a high-end product with an unlocked CPU, run it stock with BIOS defaults, then mitch and boan about it running too hot or throttling, or something else.

Just a quick update my copy.

Ive done the washer mod and have a -75mv undervolt on the core an -20mv on the cache. And ive set the PL1 PL2 to 125W in the BIOS. This was done some time ago now.
Ive noticed that over heat cycles that my temps are down even though its getting warmer here.
Even under full load now with auto fans with +5 added. The CPU stays under 85c and the GPU around 65-70c. GPU is overclocked by +150 Core and +750 Memory.
Max fans CPU is Under 78c and the GPU hovers from 56-62c.
So it looks like time and heat cycles have helped alot with my temps.
One thing i have done just for my own peace of mind is set PROCHOT to 83c. It does overshoot that for a second by +2c mostly.

Also battery life is ok for me too. Im getting about 2 and a half hours on 50% brightness doing general web browsing and watching youtube. With Turbo disabled and no other settings changed.

Could not be more happy with this "Laptop" :D

Could be there was some pumping going on with the paste as it was thermally cycled and under increased pressure of the washer mod. Still interesting observation.

I think I'll attempt a cpu delid as soon as possible, especially since summer's coming, does anyone know a good tool I can use to "break" the IHS open? Some that I saw weren't apparently compatible with 10th gen

This is the one I use. The copper IHS also worked well with the X170 in my experience.

Just the delid tool (no copper IHS)

Perfect, thanks as usual, good they do ship in NoPremaLand ( if only we could get vaccines so efficiently).
Do you think I do need adhesive to re attach the IHS or does the heatsink pressure suffice?

This is a matter of personal preference. I personally find no need to permanently attach the IHS. The pressure of the ILM is sufficient to hold the IHS in place. It can't move at all once it is latched down.

If you do, just one tiny drop (pinhead or smaller) of Superglue Control Gel on each side under the IHS "wings" and no more.

If you are going to be shipping a laptop, an added safety measure would include a minuscule film of RTV silicone around the perimeter in case the shipper treats it like a ragdoll. If you use more sealant than necessary it has the potential to hinder temperatures due to impeded contact between the CPU die and IHS.

Reverses all the gains basically as part of it is the reduced gap from no filler.
