Then try an older XTU version. Go from latest and then older. You'll most likely only find newest XTU version on the web. See if you find one that works from my Xtu-Library

thank you, trying now a number of them had it unlocked, but it fails to boot, I notice these profiles use 1.35V and xtu doesn't seem to show that memory speed increases, kit is crucial's 2x16gb 3200Mhz, bl2k16g32c16s4b

Yep, Intel enjoy change things. Maybe clear NVRAM. Search how you do it on the X170. Or Clevo have changed something in the bios. Look at the date Prema posted and see what bios versions was out then.

As @Prema mentioned in his post.... The system will reboot and try to train and apply the selected profile and if it is successful it'll keep using it even if you uninstall XTU. ;)

Unless you have some unsupported or unstable RAM there should be no problem.

it's a kit that has been shared here for a bit occasionally, and yes I did clear NVRAM to reboot and reset it, it has 2 xmp profiles and I also tried the 2 slots under the keyboard, just because, same result

Tried both profiles , both slots, fails to boot, heh, guess I have to give the ram back.
Funnily enough I tried a profile with the other kit I had, 2x32 3200Mhz Jedec cl22, and that fails to load too.
Seems like xtu can't get anything to work.
My Bios is the same as last year, 1.07.03, rtr1 being the xmg version which has some features unlocked, not xmp ofc

Generally you get a machine from a partner shop to get the firmware.

Assuming you mean Prema, yep, I know. There isn't one in the UK and I didn't want to risk EU at the time of ordering due to the whole brexit nonsense.

Small update, I made a custom profile for the ram following the specs, it booted fine, everything except task manager does report the speed as 3200Mhz....thanks clevo-intel-whoever for making this harder than it should be.
Edit : profile is unstable under stress, eh

It's best if you can pay VAT in advance. But I don't see any UK shops going to custom firmware.

That's not just the problem. They're slamming people for tax if you send the device back for repairs too.

Which is why I didn't do it.

After polishing the gpu vapor chamber I noticed I could see a pattern, it isn't even, it's like there are small even bumps over it, as if I could see the inners of the cooling unit. Obviously I went in very light and applied very little pressure.

If you can provide proof of purchase and paying tax originally you can get a refund on that in the worst case. Make sure any shipping info clearly state it is a repair return and usually it's fine.

Speaking of which, I tried, for the nth time, cleaned everything to shiny status, used the stock IHS too, LM on die and thermal paste for the heatsink, results are still worse than non delidded, I am pretty sure I watched and followed every existing advice when it comes to delidding and LM application. Mind you it's not like I got 20 C more than the stock TIM, but it is consistently marginally worse. Not even pressure is a problem considering I am also using Fox's mods on this ( and so I did when stock ) .
In short, either I got a great 10600k with regard to the stock TIM that was present , or I am missing something here I can't for the life of me see.

I assume you would use the fans that are already in your machine as it seems to be the right size.

Shame they don't ship to the UK. Would love to get that and then add quick-release fittings to it.

You say that, but customs legit don't care after brexit. Seen mates buy stuff from the EU, send it back for repair and get smacked with the fees on return due to the declared value for insurance purposes. Sometimes they get it back, sometimes they don't.

Good, well, speaking of which, my fans started misworking and glitching with a weird electrical noise, I noticed the cpu fan attachment to the mobo was damaged. Gotta send it to pc specialist who I am sure are very much willing to remind me that like pretty much everything else it isn't included in the warranty.. I am definitely not gonna pay hundreds of euros over this.

I sent it to them the I cool it onto an exchange and it was exchanged.
Into an alley I bought a factory one from Ali and I use it currently.
By way of PCS envoy there is customs under a treatment yet (FedEx) and I sent in documents. I do not want to make a loss on him nothing, because an exchange under guarantee happened.

To get at the back of the fins to clean them do you have to remove the whole heatsink assembly (so need new paste and pads each time?) Thanks.

Has anyone tried bare die cooling in this laptop? I acquired a 10900K today in the mail, but the seller did not reglue the lid on after delidding.

One more question: what is the best liquid metal to use in this laptop? Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut or Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra?

Yep, it will. And you get better contact between die and IHS. Remember the iSTIM is thicker than a layer of liquid metal.

Would I need to get the Rockitcool pure copper heatsink to ensure proper contact with the heatsink, or is the decreased height from delidding with liquid metal on the stock IHS fine?

Depends on the Clevo heatsink lottery :D We with the P870 have been into it. Even the Clevo Intel bracket lottery baked into this. Test and errors is the only way.

Man you don’t know how much you use a machine until it’s gone. X170 is finally back. They were having some issues getting it back to good temps during games. Running a few benchmarks to confirm they got it running the way it should.

I'm still waiting on mine. I bought it almost a month ago.

It keeps getting delayed, but none of the delays are the vendor's fault. It's as if the laptop doesn't want to arrive at my house and is giving me a big middle finger. The vendor is giving me amazing service.

I'll be really happy when it finally arrives. The 10900K I ordered for it arrived on monday. I got the RAM I wanted to put in it 3 weeks ago.
