Does anyone know how does the Clevo bios react when a non K cpu in installed ?
I am thinking of using a 10700 non K since it's cheaper and 8 core 4.6 GHz all core turbo is still an overkill for gaming.
I know I can't overclock over 4.6 GHz however will the bios allow me to manually set voltage and will it allow me to underclock core 1-7 to 4.6 so the CPU would run at 4.6 GHz no matter how many cores are used ?
I remember having older Asus laptops with 6700hq and 7700hq where I could not increase core ratio but I was able to decrease so I was able to set all cores to run at the same speed no matter the load.
Can I do this will the 10700, can I set all core to x46 multiplier in the bios?
Or the Clevo bios detects that it's a non k CPU and hides all CPU settings including ratio and voltage setting ? -
If there is no major changes on the new models you should be able to use XTU/ThrottleStop.jc_denton likes this.

Thanks but I would like to avoid third party apps like xtu and TS because a lot of times it is too much hassle to set them up (automatic startup, CPU settings etc) and there were times where xtu even caused issues.
This is why enabling settings like core ratio and voltage is better and safer to do so from the bios.
The question is does the bios allow such settings for non k CPU or it hides this because it is categorized under "overclocking"Papusan likes this. -
You’ll need wait for proper info from OEMs. @Donald@zTecpc is up with specs today or tomorrow. Maybe @XMG also can reply.
Regardless. Throttlestop is the software to use.
Edit. Remember most OEMs own power related software is built on XTU services.Last edited: Jul 6, 2020Rei Fukai, raz8020, BrightSmith and 2 others like this. -
Yes exactly, the bios does sound quite locked down atm, so your best bet would be TS or XTU.raz8020, Spartan@HIDevolution, Papusan and 1 other person like this.

I've decided to hold off until the new generation of graphic cards. The 200w gtx 1080 in my P775TM can still hold its own. I'll wait for the RTX 3080 refresh chassis (and maybe 4K@120hz).

@Donald@zTecpc you sell me a preorder on the X170SM-G and then leave me at HID by myself? I had to find out through the forum.

So is this a buisness he owns or just is he just doing sales again. Is there any info about this company etc at all. It’s all new to me.

He works there now. His reasons are his own. Better pay maybe? You’d have to ask him personally as only he knows the real reason. And there is an About Us on the website. Should give it a read.

4x 32GB 128GB DDR4-3200MHz XMP to 4000MHz CL22? (Samsung M471A4G43AB1-CWE)

It's a 4000Mhz rated kit running at 3200 CL22-22-22-52 in the X170, bios probably doesn't support XMP at this point.
At 24s and 1m16s in the first vid for AID64 memory bench.

I hope that be just forgot to enable xmp.
Would be pretty pathetic if xmp settings would be hidden.
Even the old Ami bios with the 20 year old design had it visible. -
Also FHD 300Hz

Yeah, the new default BIOS seems pretty empty. We REALLY need a unlocked BIOS asapDaMafiaGamer, Papusan, jc_denton and 1 other person like this.

Of course not.. I had a Clevo/Sager “once”. Had several @Prema powered Clevo machines..DreDre, Papusan and electrosoft like this. -
Now that Donald is gone from hid. What’s your guys favorites to order from and do you think liquid metal is essential to keep this beast cool. I bought my last sager from xotic and it was a 4700k with a 980m and it’s still going to this day never had liquid metal or anything special other than a laptop cooler and no issues.

might be, depends how warped are the sinks. unified heatsinks never liked liquid metal (especialy warped clevo sinks)Last edited: Jul 9, 2020

Has any reseller received it yet who can test a non K cpu and confirm if Overclocking page (to set multipliers and set voltage) is hidden or not ?
-
Based on a i5-10400F w/ RTX 2060 video, it is hidden. But can't confirm.

I don't think everything is up and officially yet. Maybe we will see a reshuffle who will be a @PremaMod Partner. The X170 is brand new from Clevo and not much we know about this model. Give it some time.DreDre, raz8020, Darkhan and 1 other person like this.

Hello all,
Is it better to have a workstation like the Dell 7750 with a GPU Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000/4000 (powered with 80W) or a gaming laptop like the Clevo X170SM-G with a GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super (powered with 200W) when your goal is to use Siemens NX (CAD software)?
I don't care for the certified driver.
I don't need a certified workstation.
I need the best portability solution without power compromise.
Thanks! -

Not an expert on the app but if it takes advantage of the quadro drivers they tend to be much faster. If not the consumer series is going to be a lot cheaper for the same performance.

On my order there’s wasn’t anything about a Prema bios with HID.

Anyone have the bios for the 2070 super mxm?
-
havent seen this posted, so sharing with everyone.

If performance for Siemens NX is specifically important to you, buying a GeForce card is an exceptionally poor choice. SNX is notorious for relying on features provided exclusively by Quadro cards such as rendering double sided polygons and wireframes using its antiquated single-fixed rendering pipeline.
The most entry level mobile Quadro T2000 using 50 watts will demolish a 250 watt RTX 2080ti by 5-10 times depending on the VRAM requirement of the project.
If SNX performance is all you care about, your most important decision should be focused on whether your projects will require the 16GB of VRAM provided by the RTX 5000 or if you can stay within the 6GB / 8GB limits of the lesser Quadros. Do not consider GeForce.Last edited: Jul 10, 2020Guntraitor Sagara, raz8020 and kalo86 like this.
