The NP9670M is live on Sager's website - https://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP9670M-G3.html
I'm building out an order and wondering can anyone recommend which thermal paste would be better? The options they give are IC Diamond or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.
I have no plans on any overclocking but want to ensure it runs as cool as it can. I do not trust myself to remove the heatsinks to apply my own thermal paste.
-
How soon is Sager building and sending out their laptops? Wasn’t able to see any ETA. Maybe, missed it.
-
I Wonder why they don´t have the 240mhz panel available.
-
I am uncertain. I emailed our Sager Notebook rep for a quote for on the NP9670M with the i7, 144Hz panel, 2080 Super, Kryonaut Thermal Compound, and Intel WiFi and waiting on a response back. Still not sure which thermal paste is better but figured getting a quote sooner is better than later so I can get funds approved for spend.
I plan on installing my own RAM / SSD upon arrival. I will update when I hear back. -

This model is shipping now. They are totally in stock

Awesome
Edit: N/m our sales rep is with Sager Notebook not LPC Digital apologies!Last edited: Jul 28, 2020 -
Was just in contact with HIDevolution and they said their models are to be received by the end of this week and shipped by next week

So just would like to say a quick thanks to those that have directly or indirectly answered some of the questioned us
less knowledgeable people have asked.
From the answers I´ve seen it seems the 10600K would be the best fit for me.
Now to decide on the screen and the gpu.
Not sure if to stay at the 144mhz or go for the 240mhz.
Or jump from the 2070 to the 2070S or the 2080S?
The issue being getting a sense of what exactly you get with each one.
and then factor in the cost of each.
What is worth the effort and what isn´t? -
Go for Kryonaut. It has one of the highest thermal conductivity rates of all thermal pastes. There are only a few other pastes that beat it in this regard. Just be careful to not run the CPU over 80°C for long periods of time or that paste will start to degrade quickly.
I'd go for the 144 Hz screen. You'd be hard pressed to achieve 240 fps in most newer games even on a 2080 ti (and by newer I mean released 2016 and after).
I believe the 2070S has the best price/performance ratio out of the cards you listed, and would therefore recommend going with that. Just my personal preference, but I always go for the card with the best price/performance ratio.goesto likes this. -
Thank you. How would I keep the CPU below 80º? This is going to be a machine I primarily use for work but will also be gaming on it during time off. As mentioned, I have no intention of overclocking but I will likely have long gaming sessions (3-4 hours on a Sunday for instance).
-
If you're running the i7 10700K at stock clocks, I think you'll be fine. Clevo DTRs have beefy cooling systems that absolutely stomp all over the cooling systems in most other laptops.
I believe the X170 will also keep that keyboard combination used to force max fans on Clevo DTRs, so you can use that if need be.goesto likes this. -

Stock will be fine.

Will the 2080 super be a 200watt or 150 watt card

Talking with HIDEvolution today and these are still not shipping. :-(.
What will a Prema Bios get me in one of these with the 10900k CPU? -
Xotic has them listed already on there webpage

Are they waiting for Prema Bios before shipping? Or they just haven’t received the laptops, yet?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Since there is no ETA for the Prema Bios for this model yet ..
it will most likely ship at first with either the standard Clevo or Sager bios..for the most part anyway. -
Yes they are listed at HIDEvolution too.
-
They're not waiting. The deal is not worked out to even ensure Prema will be available for them. I was told that if I got one beforehand and if the Prema comes out later they will flash it FOC.
-
So could anyone tell me what this particular seller could mean with the configuration option "Cooling system"?
I understand the thermal paste, but the Advanced cooling system not sure if it´s a change in the hardware or what.
Do you think it´s possible?
-
Can anyone share what are the main clevo/ sager dealers in the us please. So I can do a little more reaserch on them. I was talking with Donald a HID but I had been seeing some negative feedback recently so I guess I want to check out a few more places for due diligence

from the price of €45...
...my guess is the optional installation of the "anti-dust fans for better thermal cooling? -
Just ordered mine on monday from PCSpecialist here in the UK.
Went for an i7-10700K, 32GB RAM, RTX 2070 Super and 2TB NVME drive, then ordered a 2TB M.2 SATA drive off Amazon. Probably going to use that for my O/S and apps and the NVME for games.

The left image is from the p775 though. Not sure why any X170 would have a p775 cooling system in the first place, just to ask people to upgrade to the standard x170 cooling
-
Curious what negative feedback you've heard, if allowed to share here. Been chatting with them past few months and they've been very helpful with my questions. But, I like to hear all feedback good and bad about a seller before I throw thousands of monies at them!
-
Thats from a Clevo presentation that was used by them to sell the laptop to their resellers..
That image is not even shown in any store.
Cooling upgrades are always a repaste, or some time ago, gluing crappy little cooper heatsinks into the heatpipes.. -
If you just google or even search on the notebook forum you will find some that are more recent that have had issues on similar rigs. Like the laptops with the 2070 super. I would think that anywhere you order something from would tuna benchmarks for at least 24 hrs and check it all over before shipping and with some of the things people have reported like blue screens and things not seated completely it leads me to believe that they aren’t checking things over the greatest with the amount of ordered they are pumping out currently. I still think overall they are a good company but there’s been some stuff slipping through recently

Anti dust fans usually get spun quickly in reverse to help shift dust every so often.
-
Is there any plans to offer the 240hz model through Sager on this model? I nearly lost my drink when I saw how affordable you guys were offering this machine.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's going to be what you see for a while.
-
Difficult to obtain 240hz panels? Short in the market? Or is there another reasons for not offer it now?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'm not in the sourcing department so I can't say for sure, part of it could just be lack of benefit, 144Hz is at the point where people can't tell the difference.
-
The 12 year old, with the $8K rig, on the other side of the line, can tell when you have lower graphics when playing games. They always do.
-
I only see HID and Origin have the 240hz panels. Kinda odd. But at least they’re out there if we want them.
-
What is the Prema BIOS? A custom BIOS for people to overclock? Is there even a reason to overclock such a beast of a laptop? Will you even be able to get any performance increase without it melting? Sorry if my questions are dumb, I've been gone from the consumer market so long I'm having to relearn a bunch of stuff when it comes to gaming machines.
-
What company do you work for sager is sold under a few different company names

An advanced user on this forum posted the below about the Prema Bios a while back. Most is still valid however....
Benefits of the Prema BIOS
• Restores user ability to overclock or underclock the CPU
• Restores user control over CPU power settings (voltage, watts, amps) for optimal performance and/or thermal efficiency
• Restores ability to control non-turbo CPU core ratio
• Restores ability to control CPU c-states and p-states
• Restores ability to control BCLK (northbridge) and FCLK (System Agent) frequency
• Restores ability to enable Intel Speed Shift Technology functionality
• Restores ability to disable Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) functionality which is intended for software developers who want to use that feature and causes erratic system behavior
• Restores ability to control RSR, Watchdog Timer, ASPM, ACPI sleep and hibernation functionality
• Restores ability to control RAM timings, clock speeds and enables the utilization of XMP profiles
• Restores ability to control selection of Legacy, UEFI and CSM to install whatever operating system is desired
• Restores ability to control CPU-based DEP, AES (encryption) and Virtualization
• Restores ability to control GPU scaling, PCIe speed and power management features
• Restores control over Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 configuration
• Restores control over SATA port configuration and Intel LPM. Having the ability to disable drive ports allows exclusive control over what drive receives the BCD/boot sector, system and recovery partitions during Windows Setup and eliminates the need to physically remove non-OS drives when installing a new OS.Mr. Fox, DreDre, raz8020 and 1 other person like this. -
Think this is more a price question. Have all options in stock cost money. And the machine looks cheaper for the buyer when you don't add in a more expencive Full-HD panel in the customization. More tempting price point means easier for the customer click the buy button
240HZ = +$370 here home

Sager, we have a few partners who resell them too. -
That makes sense. The 4K upgrade is only $295 on sager. So they might just wanna make sure they move stock by not having the 240hz model. Atleast it has g-sync.
-
At PcSpecialist the 240 hz display is +120 usd over the 144 hz one.
Would be nice to see this 240 hz panel response time . If it's the same one as the one used by Gigabyte then it has 18 ms gray2gray which is about the same as the 144 hz panel used for Clevo p775tm1-g. -
Ah yes, Scandinavian pricing
-
I'm in the same situation, but through the comments on this forum I'm getting up to date on all this stuff. Sometimes it's a direct comment on something, other times it's apartial answer that will lead me to look up that info somewhere else for a more in depth answer.
Sometimes I have to go look up some of the vocabulary they use . But more often than not it's how to gauge things. What is the relative importance of one thing to another. -
Could you keep us up to date on how your order goes?
-
Ok I got an answer from the seller. I´ll just add the link so whoever is interested can see what they offer as an Advanced Cooling system for this model. But it has to do with polishing the heat sinks etc. What do you guys think?

What manufacturers in the us use liquid metal I can’t decide where to buy this model from.
