That graph there is slightly misleading. Although the 3DMark scores are claimed to be indications of 3D gaming performance, this isn't necessarily the case. 3DMark is a theoretical benchmark, it tests the CPU and GPU and combines them (treating their influence 1:1) to create a score. However, in games, it is the GPU that is the bottleneck. No matter if your CPU is a 5GHz Quad Core, if your GPU is still a GTX 560m or something like that, it wouldn't matter in real world gaming performance. For those of you who know basic chem, let's just say that the GPU is the limiting reagent of the equation. ;)

So, I just spoke with tech support at Sager about this and I didn't get a direct answer.

Is this model compatible with the recently released i7 980?

All of them have that vent blocked as it actually runs cooler and more efficiently that way. When it is unblocked, it actually runs warmer.

The latest on the new bios posted on Sager's website is that it is the same as the last version. What changed is the EC was update in that the speed of the fans during certain temps have been adjusted to new levels.

This is all that we know on this. There is no changelog to post. :)

It will cool the CPU more but other components like VRMs, ram, and other things will NOT get airflow over them and run hotter.

It may be possible that Clevo knows more about this than you/me......

I have not been benching linpack, I usually use wprime as a stress test for CPU. If I have 4 sticks of ram I hit 100c and shut down. With 2 sticks I am topping out at 93c. I am drawing about 105W with CPU and running at 4.5 GHz on all cores under load :D

The difference though is that this is a mobile part made for higher temps, the Gulftown CPUs cannot take the heat as well. (not to say I am happy about these temps....but have not picked up any DICE yet :D)

what is it "dice"?? using four planks of RAM you get the 100C at the processor, and you have a laptop off?
You feel normal, if I load in Linx obtained Throttling and the temperature reaches 100C? You can continue to use so on a laptop and do not pay attention to anything? Interestingly, this is at all?

I just took off the back of the notebook and put the turbine speed at maximum (the result of temp no more than 89С ;) as it runing intel LinPack, as well as tried at speed in AUTO mode (the result of not higher than 96C)

i start intel linpak stress-test and CPU throttling get a 7-9 step of 20
however, my Titan passes all the test steps and does not have this throttling.
Cooler Master has itself a wretched construction, poor air flow.
Lets try intel linpak ( LinX ) with problem size=14000 Run=20 and u will see a cpu trottling. i test 990X EE.

I must admit that if you turn the fans up all the way it is loud. I use it with the fans 1/2 to around 2/3rds level. 1/2 most the time, this keeps the bottom nice and cool even when benching.

A side note, the blue lighting matches my Razer keyboad. :)

I just got a np7280 with an i7 960 and dual 560m's. Should I be using 2 PSU's for this set-up? Also I've been playing BFBC2 on advanced settings, and the game keeps crashing after awhile. The CPU temps are at 80c and the GPU's are at 70c+. Is this an issue with the game running SLI, or a temp issue crashing the game?

The lowest my CPU idles at is 58c... I'm guessing this is common? Kinda unfortunate I say. I just bought a CRYO pad, hopefully that helps a little.

Also, I keep leaving the computer on when I go to sleep, and when I come back in the morning it has experienced the BSOD. A bug check indicates that a driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state. Has happened 4 times, and only seems to happen after the computer goes to sleep mode. Anyone else experienced this problem with their brand new np7280? Any quick fix? I already went through and updated as many drivers as I could, dont know if it will work though.

I also keep having issues where it will loose connection to my Razer Nostromo and wont load the profiles on it. And 3 times it has shut off my external monitor for no reason, and turned back on the laptop monitor..... I'm starting to feel like Ive bought a lemon.

EDIT: I solved the cooling issues by better ventilating the cabinet the laptop sits in. The previous fans I had installed were ok for my last laptop, but couldnt keep up with the heat output on this one. Now it idles at 46c and during benchmark, maxes out at around 78c.

The BSOD and all other problems were caused by my external USB port. When I was setting up everything on this machine, I forgot to plug the usb port into the wall, so It was struggling to power all my devices off of the laptops usb power. Ive had no crashes since I plugged it into the wall. Amazing that one thing can cause so many problems.

how you can bench, if the stand is on the table and it is from under the table can not apply the normal flow of air!! it just does not give it! behold, if a little stand, lift or put under it what the subject matter, thereby creating space, from under which you can take a stream of air, then it starts to "blow."
