Anyone know if the x7200 SMB has built in heat sensors or if it does, software to read the values? I can see SMB, CPU, and GPU in HWMonitor, but do not see anything for RAM, HDDs, fan speeds, etc.

You could also try HWiNFO, sometimes that can display more detailed information (if the computer is reporting it).

J.P. - I'll report back what I find. Thanks for the recommendation.

    -------------------------
    Edit - Report -
J.P. Thanks. Pretty detailed stuff in this tool! Thanks for the recommendation. In regards to sensors, it reports all the CPU Cores, Clevo EC (CPU and Temp2), nVidia's GPU Temp, and that is it. Similar to the same temps I see in HW Monitor. Does anyone familiar w/ either tool know more about the capability of RAM or HW sensors for the x7200?

    Hey guys

I know this subject has probably been beaten to death, but I have scoured the internet and have not found a solution to my problem yet :(

I have a clevo x7200 with AMD 6970m in crossfire. I would like to be able to find updated drivers for these cards, but it appears that the only drivers that install/work correctly are those that are provided by the individual Clevo laptop manufacturers. These drivers, unfortunately, are far from up to date, and I have not been able to find a more viable solution as of yet. The 6000m catalyst mobility drivers on the AMD website renders my laptop as useless and I have to revert back to prior settings.

If anyone has any input on this matter, I would be very grateful.

Check out the x7200 drivers/BIOS page. (See sig) I have Catalyst drivers listed. Are they incorrect?

Takes a new motherboard AND addin card. The full conversion will run you like $500'ish for a new mobo and part.

Yeah, I've tried those drivers from AMD, but I always get the BSOD whenever I try to install a non-laptop manufacturer driver. All of the AMD released drivers that I've tried have the same problem.

That is really strange. Sorry I cannot help, as I don't have access to the Radeon in my x7200.

When you update the drivers, have you tried manually removing your current drivers, rebooting, and then installing the AMD supplied drivers? I don't know if that will work, but it is worth a shot.

Tirenz (if you're still reading this thread), do you still have the Radeon's in your config?

Concerning the power supply of the X7200, since there is no practically of putting in 600W for a dual PSU arrangement, and since the connector to both the PSUs essentially uses the same connectors as various Targus PSU's, can you use a 300W PSU and then, say, a 150 W PSU, since that would be more than adequate, and they are like 400% cheaper... if not is there any solution to trying to suck more juice from the outlet than spending 200 dollars?
    Thanks!

theres a code in vbios controls vram multiple amount(2 level:normal/double)
the stock 580m vbios is on normal level, asked expert to mod to double but no luck.........so try 570m 3gb(double) one, still no luck

I'm planning to upgrade the ram and install an ssd soon for my np7280 and could use some advice. Also, I could use a little help looking up my systems specs so I can update my profile. I'm upgrading to 12gb and am interested in a 128-256gb ssd.

Having recently upgraded my RAM, its not bad. Removing the keyboard is pretty simple (Yes, the memory is under the keyboard), putting the keyboard back and working is more of a challenge, se there is a REALLY SMALL ribbon cable you have to insert into a slot then lock down, I reccomend a GOOD light and steady hands.

Best part is, you dont know if you got it right till you have it in and powered up........trial and error. It took me three tries to get it right. Thats right, Three times takeing it all apart and putting together again. Dont get me wrong its doable, just no where near as simple as the manual makes it look.

As for the SSD, I have a 256GB SSD I boot off of, I REALLY like it.

if you can work in tight spots you dont need to disconect the cable just angel the keyboard and unscrew the screws on the metal plate under the keyboard thats what i normaly do

Yes this is what I do. I gently lean the keyboard over the touch pad area, laying it down on a soft cloth there. No need to disconnect it. :)

I see good things about the Intel 510, Crucial C300 and M4 and Samsung 830 on the SSD forums. You may want to peruse or search through that forum for other ideas.

Since we're stuck with SATA II on the x7200, be careful and don't overpay for a SATA III SSD when an SSD II would suffice.

Yeah, I've gone through all the motions of deleting my old catalyst files, with and without using driver sweeper, multiple reboots, but every time I try to install any non-laptop-manufacturer released mobile AMD driver, BSOD every time. I mean, for the most part, my laptop blazes through games with very high FPS, but with the newer games, I know that I can get a whole lot better performance if my drivers were updated :/

Question. Can someone please tell me which 80gb Intel drive would have been available in a NP7280 built in January 2010? I believe It would have been the x-25m, but wanted to confirm. I couldn't tell from looking in device manager.

    Thanks
