Can you elaborate a bit more? Lights work, but not the touch sensitive? Lights and touch completely out? Are *all* of the touch items affected - volume, camera, wifi, bluetooth or only a portion of them?

looks like something is messing up the OSD software. Could you reinstall it and see if that helps?

Sorry, I did not get the run down on this one. However, I would think it is not a critical update. I can check Monday.

It is very common that they do not post the very latest bios update for general downloading.

Sad to say I have not updated a lot of drivers and such on my 7282... including this update.

I will be getting it ready for Ebay sale real soon. Then I will update it. :)

A bit off topic, but was I arguing with you back then about matte != anti-glare? If yes, then I'm taking my words back, you were right. The anti-glare is not always matte. my apologies and +1 rep :)

The touch keys work, the osd works too, there's the on screen indication that the volume is being increased/decreased or muted, but the led indicators don't seem to be working :-S. I've tried to reinstall the hotkey app, but it's still the same...

If they're all out, sounds like power to the "touch bar" is cut-off as I cannot see multiple LEDs all going at at the same time. Have you checked the connection to that "touch bar?" Or are the LEDs down in the chassis (not on the touch bar)? It's been a while since I've had mine disassembled. In any case, you're trying to find a loose connection to those LEDs.

That doesn't seem to be it, because the "V -" LED is on, it's the rest that does not turn on when you increase the volume, or mute the sound. They all turn on after formating the PC, but then it stops working...

Did you flash your BIOS? You're reporting 1.01.12, but 1.00.12 is the latest release. When you say it is reporting 8GB, where do you see that? At the main BIOS screen?

What type of memory is installed? You may want to check w/ your vendor to see if there is some kind of compatibility issue. Otherwise, if it is running just fine, you may just want to forget it.

You should find something in your Control Panel along the lines of "Realtek HD Audio Manager". If you click on that it should bring up a window with a picture of a living room or theater layout and speaker icons. There should also be a drop down menu on the left side to select if you want the sound in Stereo or 5.1 surround. To check the individual speakers to make sure they are functioning, simply click the speaker icons in the room layout picture and it will play a sound through each speaker you click on. That is the easiest way to test your speakers to make sure they are all functioning.

by 2019 notebooks may cease to exist ;) But yeah, I also envy those who will grab the next gen. It's inevitable, the race is so intense and refreshes are so frequent, you simply can't have the top tech for longer than a few months regardless of how much money you invest in it.

It might make a marginal difference, but because it's not actually shutting down any cores, it's not going to be significant. You're better off repasting or in extreme cases, downclocking/undervolting.

It wont make the slightest difference. Disabling Turbo Boost will help as it wont allow your cores to exceed 3.2GHz. (whatever model you may have) Another option is to disable 2 of your cores, most programs aren't multi threaded so disabling 2 shouldn't make a difference.

As Malibal #2 suggested, repasting might bring down your temps, and undervolting is a great way to lower temps and increase battery life. You can also lower your multiplier, and that wont adjust voltage at all.
