It sounds like you may have a faulty keyboard, or more likely, a damaged ribbon cable. You might want to see about getting a replacement, if reseating it hasn't helped. Double check with an external keyboard to be sure that you're not having an OS software issue though (or boot a Linux live CD).

Maybe the last time the ribbon was installed, it was not really seated in there ALL the way.
Then in time with the normal slight vibrations of a running x7200 it wiggled itself out.

OK, could use a hand here.
I have been seeing this error in my application log:
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on the Shadow Copy Provider {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}. Routine returned E_INVALIDARG. Routine details GetSnapshot({00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000},0000000000FE1640).
anyone have any ideas whats up ?
I cant tell (and have googled) what disk this is refering to....I am not seeing anything failiing. I know this refers to the Volume Shadow Service, but my backups are going fine, no errors....so it dosnt make sence. -

I have been the google route, checked the Volume Shadow Service.......cant find a reason. -
Playing a few games really annoys me for this reason: The cutscene voice audio is extremely hollow/quiet compared to in-game voice. I have tried every speaker config I can think of and nothing changes. Plugging in headphones I notice that the voice either switches to the right or the left headphone and if directly "looking" at the voice source it doesn't play equally in both headphones. Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Mafia Wars 2 are games that I notice it the most in. Has anyone else experienced this? What are my options?
-
Try updating your audio drivers.
-
In sound properties in control panel, click on the "Configure" button in the bottom left of the screen. Run through that wizard.
In the properties of your playback device, make sure that all "Enhancements" are disabled.
Have you reinstalled your drivers, and set everything to default?
Couple thoughts -

OK on close examination of my keyboard ribbon, I seem to ave a small tear
so that explains my ctl key(s) not working. (I think)
So, now...any place I can but a replacement keyboard ?
I have temporarially remapped the ctl key to the windows key...but still -

I had the exact same sound problem in Dragon Age: Origins. It was especially frustrating because I would miss half the conversations between Alistair and Morrigan, and those were hilarious! I can't remember what I did to fix it either.
It sounds like the software surround sound in the game is conflicting with hardware surround. Have you looked at Bioware's forums for a fix? -
The only solutions people seem to have is to configure their realtek systems to stereo or buy a new sound card. Neither is an option for me, hopefully Mass Effect 3 has this sorted out. Are realtek cards some niche thing or bottom-of-the-barrel junk piles? I notice that the only games I have problems with cutscene voices are Bioware games. ...Well, at least their games aren't reliant on conversation wheels, narrative or story telling in any sense. -

Realtek definitely isn't junk or bottom of the barrel.
ME:2 uses the Unreal Engine. You wouldn't happen to have any other games that use Unreal 3 would you? That's another way to test the surround sound. -
Thanks again for the great service -

For any newcomers, new x7200/NP7280 updates for Feb 2012 include nVidia video and JMicron Flash Card. See link in sig.

Something like that. So I don't think you can fix it. At least I couldn't on mine with the Roccat Kave 5.1 headphones. -
So of course, what I dident plan on happening, happened this morn....system would not boot and the SSD had died.....go figure my only single point of failure....
Yea for daily images

I'm really not sure what to think about it so far. It feels a lot like my Windows Phone, which I really am not impressed with.
It feels like they grafted my Windows Phone interface to Windows 7 and called it a day, but that was with the 30 minutes I got to actually play with it so I wouldn't really call that a fair review. More like first impressions. -

Hey guys, I have moved from Asus G73 to x7200 .
so I would want to know some info about x7200,
can I install an p270wm keyboard in this laptop because I need back lit.
and any upgrades possible with this? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Unfortunately your x7200 will not support a backlit keyboard.
What other upgrades are you considering?
What is your current configuration? You should really update your signature to include it, instead of your old G73JH. -
Signature updated, which processor should I go with?
I actually didnt buy the Clevo x7200 , but Il be buying it for sure, Im buying it as barebone.
Things I need to make it work are,
1.CPU
2.Harddisk
3.Wifi
All other items are included,
I dont need a very powerful CPU , storage wise 500gb is enough for me,
but WIFI should be very fast , does this have 2x pci-e port? for wifi and WAN? -
1) CPU will be constrained by your budget and want/desire at any over clocking. For my purposes, the i7-970 sufficed.
2) Harddisk - again constrained by your budget. If you can go with a Crucial, intel, or Samsung SSD - highly recommended. For more storage, you can go w/ a 7200 RPM platter based drive, or the 750GB Momentus XT Hybrid would suit as well.
3) WiFi - I'm using the Intel Ultimate N 6300. Great adapter. A few gotchas when connecting to known networks (as you have to be logged in to connect), but nothing too much to complain about. I also know others have strongly recommended the BigFoot card as well.
In regards to pci-e port? Are you referring to the network adapter? Dunno how it connects, as the manuals don't say anything other than a port in the x7200 for a wireless network adapter.
Also, what graphics cards are you considering? Do you want to overclock an SLI/XFire config along with the CPU? If so, you may want to consider the 2nd power adapter (along with coupling adapter) in order to provide your x7200 w/ enough power.

Hey thanks for the info,
CPU = i7 965
GPU = GTX 480 / GTX 580 ( middle of an ocean )
Ram = 12gb @ 1600
HDD = no decided yet , I mite buy the 7200 rmp ones,
WIFI = Big foot / intel 6300 (is the price range very high when comparing both)
pci-e = does this motherboard have an exta slot as alienware has for 1.WIFI 2.Wan .
I may overclock this to maximum ,Im not intrested in sli or crossfire. -
Intel vs. BigFoot are roughly the same $40 USD.
When you say "pci-e", do you mean actual PCI-e or do you really mean Express Card? If it is the latter, then the latest model of the x7200 comes with an ExpressCard/34 port on the front. -
yes I ment PCI-e, there is 2 pci-e slots in alienware m17x , m18x ,
does x7200 also have 2x pci-2 , one for wifi , 2nd for wan? -
link broken? i can send u one... -
can you send me the link because I dont have adobe reader.
Thank you -
Hey , thanks for the link,
as alienware ,clevo also has 2x mpci-e ports. -

waiting for p270wm3 680m sli and thinkpad w702?720?ds... -

Hello everyone. I'm having syncing issues with my gpus (460ms) in sli when using the latest drivers (295.73 & 296.10) resulting in a constant nasty stuttering. I've tried using the clean install option with the installer, but with no improvement. Would anyone recommend manually cleaning up everything before running the installer, and if so could someone post a link to a guide. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well.
