So, my laptop is doing something odd now. The bios time/date and the boot order are resetting when I turn the computer on and off with just the battery. I figured the cmos battery was dead or getting weak so I went ahead and replaced it. I test it out, and it did it again! However, I tested it with the psu hooked up and it keeps the settings. I'm not sure if I have a bad motherboard or a bad battery or what. What do you guys think?

Could be running it off the battery when its plugged in and if the battery voltage suddenly dips, reset the clock. Really odd.

Yep, I even tried unplugging the power supply while it was on then plugging it back in after a few minutes. I shut it down, let it sit for a few minutes, then turn it on again and it kept the settings. It literally just does it when I shut it down with just the battery in. It's like it's completely losing power when I turn it off while it's unplugged. I thought it could be a bad mobo, but everything runs fine...I'm confused right now, so whatever ideas you guys can come up with are welcome haha.

PS: Should I even bother reflashing the bios, or am I just grasping at straws now?

You could try a reflash of the BIOS and EC and make sure you have the latest versions.

I believe I've found the problem. The contacts on the cmos battery was slightly bent and I guess it wasn't making proper contact with the battery. I've tried recreating the problem and it hasn't come up, so I think it's fixed now haha.

I need to find a replacement screen. Mine got crushed as I deployed overseas with the military recently. Anyone know where I can get a good replacement? I have the 90% gamut screen and would like another 90% gamut screen. Help a brother out! :p Point me in the right direction!

Here is the HWInfo shot of my screen.

Somehow the "alt" key on my keyboard quit working. Works fine with an external keyboard. Anyone ever have this issue?

I'm going to try and repeat the cable. It may have come loose when I was replacing the screen panel. I only noticed it a few days ago since I've been using an external keyboard for a while.

Hello everyone. I am new to this site so I hope this question is placed in the correct forum. I own a Clevo x7200 with the (2) 460M video cards in SLI. I purchased a GTX 680M video card. I thought the 460M heat sinks would fit but apparently they will not work. Where can I purchase on that will fit the x7200 and 680M? Thanks

The heatsinks for GTX 485m/ 580m fit perfectly, I use them on my GTX 680m SLI setup in my X7200.
Ask your reseller to sell you that heatsink.
I think you might find one at rjtech.com, too.

Another newbie question. When I first bought my x7200 I purchased the max capacity of ram 12gb DDR3 PC3-10600. Is this the max amount I can use? Can I go with the PC3 12800? Thanks

I have 24GB in my X7200. 3x8GB sticks. Sadly I've had a DIMM slot die on the motherboard, so I only have 16GB usable, but 24GB is the max I think. Unless there are RAM sticks over 8GB. The X7200 has three slots for RAM.

Need help!. Can't find answer anywhere. Installed 680M in my x7200. Can't get windows to recognize. It thinks its a generic display adapter. nVidia doesn't recognize the hardware and constantly stops install due to not seeing nVidia hardware,. Any ideas?

    You need a modded driver.
Use one from laptopvideo2go or see the guide by Sirana in the thread in my sig.

I don´t think so - what version do you use right now?

Did you try a modded inf?

Exactly, it should just be a case of inserting the modified inf into the unpacked drivers, no flashing needed.

Can anyone help a newbie?. I am trying to get my GTX680M working in my 7200. I flashed the mother board with the most up to date bios. I have tried drivers from all the recommended sites on here but during install it always stops stating no nVidia hardware found and halts. I read thru SIRANAS INF MOD GUIDE for GTX 680m but its mentions going to device manager and right clicking on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M properties. Mine always lists the display adapter as stardand display adpater. Can I use his write up with this display adapter listed? I am running out of things to try.

    Just go to laptopvideo2go.com:
    LaptopVideo2Go: Drivers

Download the driver AND the INF file. You can download the original driver from nVidia, too, the important thing is the INF file!
When you download it, make sure the filename has the ending "inf" and it´s named "nvwin.inf". Copy the file!
Extract the nVidia Driver, and then go to the Display driver folder. Drop the copied inf file there, it will say that the file already exists and to replace it, click yes!
Then start the setup for the nVidia driver. Now you are going to install the driver without any problems!

Can someone help me? I own an x7200, and although my intel rst driver is up to date i think it won't work properly 'cause the bios raid rom isn't updated, and my 3 ssd setup isn't working at full speed. So my question is, is there a way to update the rom in bios, w/o flashing a new version of it? Thx in advance

Whenever I download the modified inf file from laptopvideo2go a notepad screen opens. What do I do with this? I fully understand I need to replace the original inf file with the modified one but how do I do that with a text document, which is what I get when I download the inf file. Thanks

Just replace the ".txt" against the ".inf".
Or, copy the entire text, go to the original .inf file in the Display folder, open edit by right clicking and choose to open the file with notepad/ editor. Then delete all the text there and replace it with the text you copied, and save it.
BTW, I guess you download with Internet Explorer? I think it happens with IE, but not with Mozilla Firefox.

I replaced the original inf file with the modded inf file. It replaced the original so I know I did that correctly. BUT once again when I ran set up I got the dreaded no nVidia hardware found and installation stopped. Any more suggestions? I am at a lost and would love to get this video card installed. Thanks

I also tried to update the driver thru device manager with the have disk option. I keep getting the error "the driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows". I am using a win 7 64bit driver. Tried with and without modded inf file.

When you run the setup again - do you use the original downloaded driver setup? Because in that case the new inf-file would be overwritten again.
You have to use the setup in the already extracted main folder.

Just need to clarify somethings first to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Try two different methods to install the 680m:

    Method 1

    1. I extract the original driver, I am trying to use 305.53
    2. Place modded inf file into the display driver folder to replace original file.
    3. Run set up in the original driver folder.
    4. nVidia program launches, always stops because graphic driver could not find compatible hardware

    Method 2:

1.Tried to update the driver thru device manager
    2. Use the have disk option.
    3. Pick the modded inf set up file
    4. Select device driver for the hardware to install
    5. Keep getting the error "the driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows". I am using a win 7 64bit driver.

    Anything I am doing incorrectly?

Why are you using such an old driver?
I don´t know, but it could be the driver doesn´t support the GTX 680m. It was something with 306 that first supported GTX 680m, I think.
Download the newest driver and the inf file from laptopvideo2go that matches your driver.

I don't believe you can update the RAID BIOS unless it is included in the normal BIOS flash, as the RAID BIOS is a sub-set of your normal BIOS. And I also don't believe Clevo has plans to release a BIOS update to include this.

    Hello @ all,

don't know, if this was already posted in this thread, but I need some advice in replacing my glossy led screen with a non glare led screen for my X7200.
The question is: how do I get the front bezel removed!? I removed all the screws from the front bezel but it wasn't possible to detach the front bezel from the rest. So I got a closer look in the user manual and noticed that it seems necessary to detach the hinges. I again removed all screws around the hinges but to no avail! Even without screws all the parts are attached bombproof.... :(

Has anyone already tried or even replaced his led screen? Your help in this is most welcome!

I replaced mine about 6-8 weeks ago. My creek cracked during a flight. :( I think you just need to pry the bezel apart. If I remember correctly that's why I did.

Ähm, I'm not so familiar with the word "pry". Do you mean "to pry open"? In German it means something like "to break open". That's NOT my intention! ;)
Can anyone confirm that I only have to remove the front bezels's screws and afterwards prying the front bezel apart?

How do I know if my X7200 Motherboard is a D03 version or a D04 version? Is D04 the version with the express card slot? Also if that is the case, and mine is a D03 (I don't have an expresscard slot) wil a D04 motherboard work in my chassis? Thanks guys. I contacted upgradeyourlaptop and they have the motherboard for sale for about $345.

So long as the ports are the same a motherboard will fit into a chassis just fine. I doubt they would have changed much else around it for a mobo revision.

    Hello!

I have just registered to ask a question. I am a happy owner of the X7200, but I got dual GTX 460ms in there, and they are getting seriously outdated. So I am thinking about replacement, and I had my eye on the GTX 675mx. I am wondering, does anyone have the experience if it's compatible with the X7200? Heatsink and Bios wise?

I have done some research, the 460 and 675mx look pretty much the same, when it comes to the heatsink compability. They have a square chip. But I can bever be sure... When it comes to the bios, I have read around that I need to just register some ID of some sort, which I will figure out later.

    Thanks!

You'll want the heatsink I believe and a single 680M would be a better choice.

So no one has confirmed if the X7200 can take a 780m huh, I've read in a different thread they are the same card, just the 780m is fully unlocked so I'd imagine its compatible.... But it would be nice to confirm it before dropping 800 dollars on it :/

THat's a lot of money to upgrade the video card on this laptop, considering that it has first gen i7.

With that said, should I upgrade my dual 460m to something like a 580? I don't need top of the line, since that'll break the bank.

Just something better than the 460.

Your 485 is still a bit more powerful than mine, even with sli enabled lol.

Still, out of my group of friends, I'm the only one with a laptop that weight 10 pounds and houses 2 video cards. :p

I had my power cord come apart at the AC adapter, even after electrical taping the hell out of it at the first signs of it coming apart. Apparently the AC adapter isn't covered under the 3 yr parts and labor warranty I purchased. I've been waiting over two weeks now for my new $200 AC adapter to come from Sager. I have a $3,500 paper weight until it gets in. Treat your AC adapters like you would a new born baby. They aren't cheap!
