Your reseller should be able to source them, also the GPU fans from the P570Wm also work :)

Thanks for the reply, but I didn't purchase the laptop myself so I don't know exactly what reseller to contact. From what I've read xoticpc seems to be the people to email about replacement parts. Hope to hear from them soon with some solid info. I also tried searching for the P570Wm model fan, but came up with nothing also. It seems everywhere I look, only cpu fans are available.. if that. At this point I'm will to sell a soul for a fan replacement.

We can help but only with computers originally purchased from us. If you can contact the original purchaser to find out where he/she got it from that would be best. If it is a "Sager" branded computer you may be able to contact them directly.

Hey guys I'm new to the thread, but does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the Mobo in a X7200 to the X79 ones found in the P270wm and the P570wm? I want to install a Backlit keyboard and I7-3970x, but the original Mobo doesn't support either of them.

I have a x7200 with an AMD 6970M GPU. Has anyone successfully connected a 2560x1440 monitor? I get 1920x1080 using the DVI connector or the HDMI connector.

The only connection on the machine that supports beyond 1080p is the dvi connector. If using that a dual link cable and display must be used.

Thank you. I am trying to get a Dell U2713H Monitor to work. I am using a DL-DVI cable and can't get more than 1920x1080. Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Ah I think the issue is the amd mobile cards do not support dual link dvi, you would need an nvidia gpu.

From everything that I have found on the internet it looks liks this is correct. I just have not found a definitive statement that it is correct.
So, on to a replacement laptop.

Unless I can get a one cheap, I am just going to move forward with getting a new laptop sooner rather than later. Would like a P570WM based system but will probably go with one based on the P770ZM.

Just ordered a P770ZM. Should be here sometime next week.

Anyone have a rough number for what I might get for the X7200? Specs are in my sig. Only exceptions would be the drives. Most likely I would only sell the 830 Pro.

It's hard to say for a niche system like that these days, it's more about finding a buyer.

bought my x7200 in 2008 and only thing i went cheap on was ram at the time. she's got a 990x with 12gb and dual nvidia 480m's. after stumbling on this great forum from googling bios firmwares i pulled the trigger on 580m's at a good price. i went to put the 580m's in today not knowing i would need new heatsinks and x brackets :vbeek:

i bought the cards off ebay and have a 2 weeks to return them and don't know what to do as i can't really tell if they work and i'm worried i may not get to test them before i would get some new heatsinks and x brackets. i've read here about the 680m and 7970. what do the experts think? should i unload the 580m's for a single 680m or 7970? obviously would still need a new heatsink kit for appropiate card and this is not easy.

A single 680m is a better option especially if you tweak it.

Use your current one and place new thermal pads on it to match the chips on the new card.

Doesn't sound very promising ... though with a bit of luck one of the smd fuses saved your board (it's their intended purpose, after all). Check the area closest to the plug, hopefully these will labelled on the pcb.

Have a look at the motherboard images from the service manual to figure that out :)

Don't have this model, but skimmed the service manual; seems merely the heatsink is fine to access the bottom-side of the motherboard. Though the top-side would involve lifting mb from base, just removing the keyboard is not enough ...

To be sure you would want to inspect both sides but a new board is most likely required.

    Greetings!
I have a Clevo x7200 that started having a weird problem lately.

If I move my laptop screen to a different position the computer freeze. If the screen is already in a bad position the computer doesn't even turn on.
I'm not sure what is going on, but if I don't touch the screen the computer run smoothly.

Any ideas on what could be happening?

If any one knows how to map the computer main screen to an external monitor I would also appreciate it (when I say changing the computer main screen I mean making even the bios recognize the external monitor as the main screen, because right now my computer just start recognizing the HDMI camble after the OS starts)

Obs: my main specs are gtx460m SLI and an i7 950

    Thanks for the attention.

Sounds like you have something not quite making a proper connection. It might be worth stripping it all down and rebuilding to ensure everything is properly seated.

Had the same happen to my 7280 about 18 months ago or so. It turned out one my 580M's just shorted out. But same situation was just browsing the web heard a pop sound computer shutdown immediately and had smoke and the electrical burn smell coming from the laptop.

Thanks for the answer! I'll try that once I have the time I'll do it and post back the results =)

    @Pradege
Hi there! I'm not sure how similar the problem is. In my case, my computer would stop working only when I move my laptop screen =(
Anyway, it seems my 460M is still working =) I hope it doesn't burn out!

It may be the display cable shorting and tripping the supply, so don't do it too often, it could kill the board at some point.

    Hi all, question

Just picked up one of these old beasts with a 480m gtx

Firstly I have a clevo enduro enabled 7970m will this work just popping it in

Secondly will the existing heatsink work with the 7970m?

It may work with the HM vbios (enduro disabled) if it's PCB version 1.2.

    Hi everyone,

I posted in the what laptop should I buy forum that I am looking to replace my old x7200 (460M SLI, i7-950) (link http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/looking-for-new-laptop-to-replace-old-clevo-x7200.776044/ ).

One individual recommended upgrading the GPUs and storage. Storage and RAM are easy upgrades, but I am concerned about the GPUs. That being said, what GPUs can I upgrade to? What problems would I be facing? What GPU would you upgrade to? And finally, is there a guide out there that I can reference?

I'm in no rush, the problem is that my 460Ms are just starting to fall behind in the performance realm for new games. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you read the last couple of pages? I know the 680m works but a single 980m modern machine is better than getting two 980M cards.

The GTX 680m works (see link in my signature), even two in SLI will work.
The GTX 780m does not work, there was a user in a german forum who did try but couldn´t get it to work (black screen, I think I remember). So I would think the GTX 880 wouldn´t work, too, because it´s nearly the same card as 780m, only higher clocked.
I don´t know if anyone tried to put 980m in X7200... I could try (have the P177SM-A with 980m), but since both my laptops run so well/ cold etc., at the moment I don´t want to repaste etc... but never say never ;).

I would certainly give the display cable a reseating, thermal creep can make a connector come loose over time.

Can't seem to find any cards from Clevo/Sager and many sellers claim their cards are compatible even though they are selling Dell branded cards.

Also, would a 4GB be much better than a 2GB card? All the new ones are 2GB and there are a few used 4GB for about $500+, though.

Usually the 2GB ones are dell and the 4GB are sager.

Modern titles can use more than 2GB yes, especially if you tweak the clocks of the card. As for where to get them I have not been looking recently.

So next question, would a 680M from an MSI GT60 work in our machine? I'm not sure if the MSI GT60 is a Clevo rebrand. Some guy is selling a 4GB 680M on ebay for $400 used.

So I got lucky and was able to find someone selling two Clevo 680M 4GB cards (cost US$400 each used, though). Now I need to find a cooler and whatever hardware needed to install the second card. Any suggestions? :)
