Are the 2 GPU Coolers the same thing?

Yes each is identical.

Is anyone running Windows 8.1 or is everybody still on Windows 7?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I doubt many will have bothered with 8.1, 10 will be the step that more people are likely to take due to the Direct X enhancements.
-
I'm still on Windows 7 fwiw

I can understand waiting for 10 but that is not going to be out until the fall. That is not that far ahead but 8.1 came out in the fall of 2013 and don't think most people knew what 10 was going to be about. I upgraded from 7 to 8.1 a few months after it came out and like a lot of things about it (like the GUI is faster, looks better that the Classic Theme in 7, boots, hibernates and wakes faster, too). 8.1 has been a little quirky but runs fine overall. I just upgraded to the 680M SLI so lets see how that works. The single 485M was where most of the problems were. Parts of Waterfox (64bit version of Firefox) and Outlook 2013 would go black and/or look a bit scrambled depending on what windows were open at the moment.
I'm wondering if 10 will support everything on our machines. The Hotkey software is an issue with 8.1 (works best when set to run as admin but sometimes crashes on boot or wakeup, anyway). -
Also, has anyone tried Eurocom's X7200 BIOS on the Sager NP7282 or are there any reasons not to do it?
I tried it and all of a sudden I had a TPM installed but didn't fix what I was hoping it would so I went back to the Sager BIOS. I was hoping it would add support for a single 680M but everything seemed to work fine. -
Windows 10 (10240) supports everything I threw at it so far, it even installed the Killer WiFi drivers automatically. Which Hotkey drivers are you talking about? I actually didn't have to install any of the regular X7200 drivers manually, except the NVIDIA driver (modded inf for my 680M).
-
I'm talking about the Hotkey software that makes the volume and mute lights come one. It also supposed to control the other Hotkeys but those seem to work without the software.
Also, I'm wondering if the RAID controller will be supported and whether DX12 will provide any improvements when using DX11 cards and games. -
You're right, the volume lights are not showing, I didn't notice it haha. Funnily enough, the Wifi/Webcam lights are working fine.
I guess we will soon find out about DX12 though

The Intel raid will be fine.

Regarding Maxwell GPUs in the x7200 i will start a new Thread

Looks like there are Windows 10 drivers for all the devices in our machine. The GTX 680M will still need the patches to make it work. I haven't installed it yet, though, I am planning on doing it.
Anyone take the plunge besides Sirana?
-
Wondering this myself. I've been holding off upgrading.
-
I upgraded about 1.5 weeks ago and seems to run fine. If you are using RAID, you have to use the built-in driver because Intel's v14.5 crashes on boot. The built-in driver seems to work fine. Also, seems like you have to install the Renesas USB3 driver because, if you don't, USB3 devices don't seem to work properly. The Clevo Hotkey software works perfectly, too. I have no idea why it wouldn't work in 8.1.
MKX runs at a slightly higher frame rate but I don't know if it is because of the OS, newer video drivers or if it is related to a fix installed during the game's update. We'll see how it goes in the next few weeks. -

DX11 games are unlikely to change really.
On the driver front I would upgrade if you have issues and leave it if you don't for now. -
Forgot to mention, I have been having issues with the esata port in W10. Causes the RAID to stop responding.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
What happens if its plugged in at boot?
-
It will work and appear to work no matter when it is plugged in but every so often the RAID array just hangs and errors appear in event viewer.
-

Was the eSATA drive set up as part of your RAID set up?
-
It was not part of the RAID setup.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
What intel drivers are you running?
-
The built-in driver. I tried Intel's new 14.6 RST Driver a few days ago and that one is even worse. Boots 0% of the time.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If that is the case then that sounds like it could be the issue, it may take intel a bit to get their act together.
-
I have a feeling it won't happen with this one because it is a 6-7 years old controller. W10 comes with v13.2, I tried 13.6, 14.0, 14.5, 14.6 and all have problems. W8.1 started to have problems since version 14.5.

Hey guys, not sure if this question has been answered before, but i have searched the net a bit and haven't found the answer. I have both an NP7280 with dual 560m's and an NP9570 with dual 770m's. Will the 770m's work in my NP7280? I want to swap them over and upgrade the NP9570 to 980m's.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I don't think so, but why not just remove the first card and try a 770M in there quickly?
-
Hi all, got an issue that I've seen discussed a bit but I've heard conflicting answers on. I got an x7200 from Malibal back in 2010 which recently had its original 480m burn out. I got a 680m after Malibal support gave me that model number as something that's compatible. Unfortunately the one I ordered isn't being recognized by the BIOS or OS as anything but a generic Nvidia card. At least it's able to start up. I looked around a bit and read that some x7200s have had trouble with some cards until the BIOS is updated, which would make sense for my case since it's so old. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a BIOS update for this thing since apparently Clevo pulled them and Malibal either followed suit or never had them to begin with. I called the support guy from Malibal who said he'd look around but it didn't exactly inspire confidence.
tl;dr any idea where I might find a BIOS update for a Malibal x7200? Does the fact that it's from Malibal really matter in this case? Thanks!
Current BIOS version is 1.01.05cSA, for what that's worth. -
Reseller doesn't matter, Clevo bios is fine. See this thread: Clevo BIOS (older models).
Latest EC is 1.00.08 and latest bios 1.00.12. Read the intro/guide at the beginning of the thread first; flash EC first, bios second. Here's another source for the same files; Clevo mirror (just in case).
If the bios/ec update didn't work; check the various vbios/card revisions.DCBomB likes this. -
Thanks t356! No dice, unfortunately. It's still showing up as Standard VGA after the ec/bios update and trying all of those vbios versions. It should be the Dell one that works, since that's what the guy says it is but I guess that's not the issue.
Looking back in the thread on page 618, I see Myrsprett has the exact same hardwareid that I do. I guess I should try what he did next. -
AHHA
Modifying a driver from Dell did it. Having trouble with some higher end games, though. One in particular just goes black after a few seconds. -
Disable as much of the optional driver features as possible and retry. And you might check the driver's or games' log files, with any luck there's something of use in there.

Well that keeps it from crashing! I guess I should turn them on one at a time, now. Thanks again!
Here's a thing. DXDiag thinks the card has 4GB. GPU-Z says 2GB. I wonder if I got the wrong driver in there. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
DXdiag adds all available memory together so dedicated and potential system ram.

So some of you may remember a nagging issue I had. A few years back (2013-2014) I was deployed and gaming on my X7200. Well at some point I blew ot the motherboard. I had to but a new one. The new motherboard for some reason could not boot with hyperthreading turned on. A huge bummer, essentially making my 980x a large useless processor.
Well I used it with hyperthreading turned off for the last two years. I figured I wasn't benching anymore.
Anyway today I decided to update to the Prema unlocked bios since I never updated the bios. Low and behold that was my issue! I'm a frigging idiot for not doing that. I meant to a lot, but never was motivated enough. So now it actually runs with hyperthreading!
Hopefully this solves some of the stability issues I was having!
On another note I completely forgot all I knew about overclocking this system/CPU. I can't change anything and get it to boot, where before I was doing crazy benching and had it fairly stable for everyday use at 4.1GHz
But at least I have my 12 threads back!
Oh and on another note, I upgraded my two storage HDDs from 1TB, to 2TB drives. Also upgraded my 256GB gaming SSD, to a 1TB mSATA drive. My OS is on a 160GB SSD. so in total I have over 5TB (4 internal drives) of space inside the "laptop" :-D

Yea, and I meant to.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like it did anything for the instability issues I've been having.
Trying to do a disk backup of my gaming SSD, it almost immediately BSOD upon start. I'm using Acronis True Image 2013.

So I think I got my stability under control by reverting my GPUs back to stock clocks, which had been overclocked for the last few years.
Does anyone know what the newest or best GPUs are that can run in the X7200?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk -
Nope wasn't the GPUs, it was the CPU not having enough voltage at stock/default settings.
Does anyone have one of these for sale? My son damaged mine. It's the Clevo dual PSU adapter.

How is it damaged?
-
My theory is that when it arched it got hot enough to warp the contacts inside which actually sealed one. Probably because polarity was reversed. Now it won't slide over the pin on the motherboard socket.
My son had been watching me as I was testing hardware and swapping GPUs and memory, ect. After each test I would unplug it and then plug it back in when ready. Well I turned around and he wanted to help. He's 3 and a half Lol.
When it happened I heard the sizzle and could smell the burn. Scared to poo outta me. Thought for sure the board was done.

Have you asked your reseller?

Net yet, scoured eBay and Amazon with no results, so that's my next move.

Might be worth checking with Sager directly if your reseller doesn't have them.

Sometime this week I'll shoot out a few email inquiries. My system came in a trade with it, so I've never had to purchase it.

Been doing some tweaking with Rainmeter the last few days. Took someones skin and tailored it to my system a bit more.
