ya.. i'm thinkin that's odd eh?

when the d90x series came out.. and was touted as the most powerful notebook in the world.. there was much going on here..

and the only competition at the time was the m1730 with dual 8700/8800's.. I hope things pick up.

although the power issue thing might be making a lot of folks re-think and not want to purchase.. hence the socks coming out and saying how awesome their purchase was.. ----not that i'm doubting it.. rest assured i will say it for my own-self.. if it's indeed so.

    @Bigkid,

If you don't stop spamming the forum, you'll get yourself banned!

I agree with the rest - this is a very ugly trolling attempt by eurocom or one of their ghosts - it will neither improve their reputation nor win potential customers.
Hopefully, mods will address the situation soon.

    Is this true ?
Can anyone confirm that their x7200 has only 3 of the 4 vents open ?

Lol. in the video "they say" our engineers have solved the cooling problems by incorporating large amounts of copper. Eurocom is bragging for what clevo did. How messed up is that ?

    Oh, and i almost forgot.
How is the subwoofer performance ? Cause everybody seems to care about benchmarking and stuff, no one mentioned anything about subwoofer and speaker performance.

I think the idea of water cooling a laptop is fantastic...lol but if its logical and will ever happen who knows. With so much of laptops focus on heat, figures something will come along some time, maybee some advanced form of electrical cooling by itself with no need for copper and fans?

Why does Eurocom offer 470m 285m in SLI and the 3 Quadro cards but we cant get them in the states? Which would be perfect since the 470s are 75w TDP

now that would be bulky.. and scary.. with moving the thing around.. and especially if the rad isn't built in. i could just hear the sizzle.. :)

i remember way back when.. i got my sager 5680.. someone was trying to do a water cooling mod on it.. they also had a solid silver heatsink machined especially for it.

I'm still debating between the X8100 with a 940XM and 5870s in Xfire Vs X7200 with a i7-950 with 480 in SLI. I plan on getting it with a single seagate 500g hybrid and I have 2 160g intel SDD from my old dead OCZ whitebook I'm gonna throw in .... But not in Raid 0. And what about memory is 6 gig enuff for basic gaming and mapping and routing programs?

    nice choices mate!

6gb of ram is plenty... my bud runs a geomatics firm up here and does some mega mega mapping for BIG OIL. he has a d900F with that much ram and he is fine.

you could raid the ssd stripe or mirror for redundancy too.. there's many options for you..

screen size is bigger on the x8100. but.. pure power and desktop processors in the x7200.

i briefly thought on the x8100.. but the x7200 is in a class all by it's own-self.

It really hard for me to make a choice between the 2 laptops .... In the past I was an alienware fan boi pre dell buy-out ..... I had purchased 7 computers from them lappys and desktop. But after my last D900 I got from them was a utter nightmare. I ended up getting my next 3 laptop from mark at killernotebooks. I'm not a huge tech geek so when my warranty ran out I would just call mark and say build me something nice under 4g's. And I would trust anything he sent at me. But since he is gone. I'm kinda lost in the shuffle of trying to figure this out on my own. And it really hard to trust just any resellers cause I know like any business they are just pushing the product.

If anyone has and knows of anyone selling a 7950GTX GPU for the 570RU PM me I'm attempting to find a replacement I planned on giving this thing to my mother to tool around on. And I have no plan on buying one from RJtech for 1 grand

i picked up mine from rjtech.. it's no-nonsense.. they give you pretty much barebones clevo---to fully decked out.

    cut---dry.

    i've got clevo's from :

pctorque this was where i got the first 2 notebooks from.

then eurocrap----never deal with them again.

now rjtech.. good experience so far..

There is a cooling technology with nothing but electric current.
The way it works, is that the energy from the current is used to create enourmous sound of like 150db inside a vaccum enclosed casing, this sounds aggitates helium molecules or smtn, and the result is cooling below zero.
This technology is supposed to be used in next gen refrigerators.

Let me see if i can get some video with the stuff,

I plan to run them all out of a raid config SSDs alone are plenty fast enuff for me out of a raid config. Plus having trim support is a must.... When I first got the SSD and stuck them in I had them in raid but after a few months you could tell they were getting slower .... So I formatted them and took them outta raid and I was stil pretty amazed. I'll prob stick OS, WoW, EQ2, FF14 mostly all my MMOs on one and then stick Steam on one cause my steam folder is 104gigs alone. Then use the hybrid for I-Tunes, Routing , Taxes and Trip information programs. And maybe when 3gen SSDs come out someone will figure out how to get trim support to work with a software raid config.

Quick question. Has anyone ordered this beast knowing full well that they are not going to use anywhere near it's full power? I had an argument with someone about it. He kept saying I was wasting money on it but I was like "hey man, it's MY money!"
I know Im not going to use all of it's powers but it is nice to have.

    Do you guys have opinions?

I only found ordering it with the extreme CPU was really a waste unless you happen to be one of the people that gets the SLI PSU. The one I ordered was cheaper then the alienware M17x and only 200.00 more then the finally decked out x8100. I've spent more on lesser laptops in the past.

Of course it is not that you need a x7200 with a 980x cpu or the x7200 period with it's capabilities with a standard i-7. It can be compared to the high end auto industry. EG...

    Bugatti Veyron: 267 mph, 0-60 in 2.5 secs, SSC Ultimate Aero: 257 mph, 0-60 in 2.7 secs, Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo: 248 mph 0-60 in 3.2 secs, Koenigsegg CCX: 245 mph, 0-60 in 3.2 secs,
    McLaren F1: 240 mph, 0-60 in 3.2 secs, Ferrari Enzo: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs, Jaguar XJ220: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.8 secs...

Some people just like the power and speed...just because.... :D

^^^^Just a note to think about, most all if not all of the resellers no matter where they are located, the units come from the LA California area. If you would want to retrurn it for any reason it would need to go back to one of the factories in the LA area not to Nebraska or Virginia or any other state where the reseller is located. Just to give all a heads up in case you did not know this... :)

I am new around here(as a matter of fact its my first post). I am an art student, and I do a lot of video editing and photoshop. This machine would be perfect for editing photos in CS5 and crunching some video conversion and edition on road. Apart from power supply issue (I don't mind lugging around a sli psu) its the screen which is sort of deal breaker. Can one replace the screen somehow? Say with something like HP 8740w's IPS panel?

    Regards
    Leo

I don't see the X7200's screen as a deal breaker. It's a good quality TN panel (perhaps one of the best non-wide gamut glossy screens currently available for laptops). If you're ok with a glossy screen - then you're fine.
Replacing it with an IPS is not an option at this point. The later requires much more power and would aggravate the PSU tripping issues. Also, you'd need to mod connectors for that screen to even fit the X7200.

yeah...i would be calling on the phone, before posting in a forum as to when my order was shipping...forums are nice and all, but nothing like talking to the people who are actually "forwarding" my laptop to me. unless "they" have to actually assemble, test and ship it.

still, a phone call is best.
