That's the system drive I wanted, but it was going to take an extra week or so for xoticpc to put it in. I need the system quickly, so I hope to do a self upgrade to SSD later on.
I wasn't sure if the 750's should be raided or not. Seems to be some debate on the Adobe CS5 forums. Some say 3 separate drives might perform better: Software on one, page files and scratch on two, media on three. But I wonder if you Raid0 drives two and three, if it would be faster??
Unless of course, you plan to add a third drive externally, then you've got the best speed combo of all, but more to lug around...

looking at the 5870m's...they scale about 90+ percent
so with any luck...so will these.. -
Planning on getting the X7200 w/ GTX 460Ms in SLI. What driver needs to be installed for these cards? The 260.99 on NVidia's website or a modified one from LV2G? A link for it would be nice.
Also, does the BIOS or anything else need to updated upon arrival? Just curious because I've never had much experience updating BIOS except once on my SXPS 1640 (it was just a simple install). -
265.xx from lpv2go is the best solution now but nvidia is suppose to release just now a 265.xx driver on their website so if you wait a bit no more modifications will be needed.
But it seems the modified driver from lpv2go works as expected. -
I'm already ordered Sager NP 7280 yesterday, I'm a little disappointed because I can not ordered it with GTX480M, but I,m happy after read this forum because there is statement that GTX470M better than GTX480M. Does GTX470M has better performance than GTX480M ? Is it true that GTX480m have heat issue and battery issue ?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
^^^^The x7200 and NP7280 owners that ordered the 470M or in SLI in theirs hopefully will report to us by as early as this weekend on the performance they see...

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
The GTX480M is more powerful than the GTX470m but because the power consumption and heat they decrease the voltage and clocks on the GTX480 so much that's why the GTX470m becomes faster funny but true

Lol! Had to go hard. What's funny was just 4 months ago, I was just casually looking for any old notebook. I then stumbled across this fourm and was bitten by the performance bug.
-
^^ So true, lol! A year ago, I was happy with my old IBM ThinkPad, and after stumbling upon this forum bought a M17X-R1, then R2, then HP 8740w and..... here I'm, selling Clevo's. Something tells me, this is not a bug. This is a plague and cannot be cured!

Cannot wait my NP7280 GTX470M SLI, Did NP7280 support 3D vision ? I have plan to buy ACER GD245HQ

For those who want a brighter and colorful screen for the X7200 i swap the screen from my wife's Dell Studio 1749 to the X7200 and it works is like night and day difference the PN is B173HW01-v4 is an AUO panel they call it B+RG on dell website is supposed to be a 300nit and 92% color gamut all i can say is woooow this thing is almost like RGB 8bit
-
very nice,,if you can change the tim to ic diamond its a better long term tim and preforms better under heavy load.... -
I would stick with the 460Ms, then wait and see whether the 6900M or GTX 500M comes to this machine, and are worth upgrading to afterward.
-
speedy this is the same one right?

How difficult is it to remove? If one were so inclined to remove it of course.
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
takes like 5 min to remove the screen of the X7200 just remove the rubber bumpers the screws take the bezel out and remove the screws holding the screen is the easiest job i ever done for a laptop screen that's for sure
this is not a screen for everyone the brightness can damage your eyeballs"
i love that lol -
unboxing. first time i've done this, im not that good at it.

Wow speedy! I wish we could see a side by side comparison of the stock screen and this one. Or did I miss it?...anyway very interesting...
Thanks for the video!! This will be helpful to others...

.....hard to hold a camera and unbox it.......in retrospect i shoulda set the camera up somewhere
Yeah I mentioned you a couple times in the video linked you in the description based on the fact that you have a good rep on here -
Hey Speedy Gonzalez would that screen fit and work in a 8760?
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
if the 8760 has the same handstar screen yes it should work
Edit: yes it works on that machine too -
It has the handstar HSD06a5 but I don't know what you mean by the same screen
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
yes i am sorry i mean the same screen the X7200 has but i already check with a friend and is the same the connector should be on the left side looking the screen from the back
-
Good job Burnt!
But the dropping it must have hurt! -
haha yea lesson learned never try to open a 13 lb laptop one handed....that thing is way heavier than it even looks (and it looks heavy)
-
I lift weights and its stilltoo heavy, but worth it, lovely configuration you have too.
-
What speedy did with his screen got me thinking. I have noticed significant color banding with color gradients esp while gaming. Quite annoying and frankly disappointing given the load of dough I paid for this thing.
The thing is, I have this very nice wuxga 17" screen sitting in my now old Gateway P7811fx. I don't know if it is an 8 bit screen but I sure don't recall seeing color banding like this. I also don't recall having to correct for over saturated colors like I do on the NP 7280.
Of course, the problem is one of linear dimensions. The wuxga screen is a full 9 inches high, too big to fit into the viewable dimensions of the 7280 bezel.
Speedy, have you noticed better color (in terms of reference color) and decreased or eliminated banding by using your new screen? -
Speedy, did you have to order a separate connector cable or did the X7200 one fit the AUO screen? NOTE to resellers: Break away from being clones of each other, I realize there may be warranty issues involved but you guys should offer customization for customers that want it and provide your own warranty for those parts that are customized like the display. Speedy has just demonstrated how effortless it is to swap in a better display and if a reseller did this, you'd probably attract a lot more customers and it would make your business stand out. Aikimox, you said you wanted to be different, here's your chance buddy. -
that's how kn notebooks went out of business....lol
speculation of course. -
Never heard of them, what customizations did they offer? -
Killer Notebooks
and you're not missing anything...
but they did all sorts of stuff. there are still some k/n owners floating around here. -
hey how do you guys feel about something like this
SSD Tweaker: a tool to optimize your SSD disks | How-To New
to optimize an SSD? I've never owned one before; I'm trying to make moves to give it more longevity. -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
The stock cable works without any modification they can easy offer this screen with the config if they want
well coming from a M17X RGB screen i was missing the color reproduction and brightness of it, if you let this screen on stock profile is perfect for movies the colors looks real but for games i have to raise the saturation because the games looks much better that way i didn't noticed any banding
now the black levels are better on the handstar screen this one is kind of gray but nothing to bad and i sacrifice that for better colors and brightness -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
all you have to do with your ssd is:
disable superfetch
disable windows search
disable defragmenter
disable indexing on the drive
disable system restore
and if you using firefox make it write cache on Memory ram
